The problem should never be the colour of the skin of the person singing country music. However, some singers are not good at singing country music, I just don't think Beyonce is good at singing counts music. And you are welcome to disagree. Just because you are from Texas doesn't mean you are good at singing country music. For the same reason I don't want to hear Blake Sheldon singing Put a ring on it and I would not want to hear Dolly Parton singing hard rock

That's what I was thinking with a different spin. Beyonce fixna go for that audience. Maybe she just didn't realize how big it was. If you love music you enjoy it, play around with it. Dolly sang with Kid Rock. Let Beyonce live her life on her terms. I love me some good ol blue music. Music is therapeutic and universal. Stop pandering stop separating stop labeling folks. Stop stirring strife where there isn't any. Some people will complain so what let them have their dog on opinion. Stay in your lane and let the politicians do the politicians. Joy reeds conversations and gossip sessions are not news. The pic a topic the spin it with a couple directions in mind. Biden good, anything else bad. Smear at least one Republican while reminding everyone how low gas is. Extra points if you can tie it to Trump and imagine what torture it would be to give him another term. Take a vacation Joy.

"Fairytale," by the Pointer Sisters was a country song written by Bonny and Anita Pointer that won them a Grammy for "Best Country Performance by a Duo or a Group" for 1974 and performed at the Grand Ol' Opry that same year. So true. What do these music execs do while listening to songs on the radio in their car? The same thing that everyone else does: If a song comes on the radio that doesn't resonate with you, you change the channel, turn down the volume, turn it off or slide in a cd. You like what you like, and what you don't like, you don't listen too. But no one is taking over your choice of music forcing you to listen to songs you don't want to hear. John Schneider ain't doing it, nor is Dolly Parton. Same with Beyonce. If we don't like her version of country music, getting upset over it is childish and stupid. Get over it and change the doggone channel. There are hundreds of other country songs that you can still enjoy. And no one will change that. Regardless of the marketing decisions these music execs make. Common sense.

Had he employed good old fashioned common sense before he opened his mouth, and not allowed himself to be goaded on by the trap laid from that reporter, this wouldn't be an issue. At best country music fans would be skeptical- not about her right to try out country music, but if she could come up with music that really captured the essence of country music.

"Black Cat" wouldn't have been out of place on AOR radio stations, but such stations must not have wanted any part of the song just because Jackson sang on it. Those stations couldn't use the excuse of "Black Cat" being an R&B or pop song.

They don't even know that almost every major country star since the start of country music learned from, imitated, and idolized black musicians. You evidently don't know that Hank Williams learned how to play and sing in the 1930s from a black man in Montgomery, AL by the name of Rufus Payne. Williams talked about Payne until the end of his short life. You evidently don't know that Jimmie Rodgers, the "father of country music," learned how to play from black men who worked with his father and him on the railroad. Rodgers also taught bluesman Howlin' Wolf how to yodel --- in person -- in a little town called White Station just north of West Point, MS. Rodgers was also a huge influence on Robert Johnson, the legendary bluesman. You evidently don't know that A.P. Carter, the leader of the Carter Family, got most of his songs and a lot of his playing style from a black man named Leslie Riddle. You evidently don't know that Bill Monroe, the "father of bluegrass," learned how to play from a black man named Arnold Schultz and often said Schultz was one of his biggest influences. You evidently don't know that Johnny Cash learned how to play guitar from a black man who lived near his family on a cotton plantation in Dyess, AR. You evidently don't know that one of Cash's other big musical influences was Gus Cannon, a black man who'd played minstrel music in the 1900s and recorded a song in 1928 called "Walk Right In" that became a big hit in the 1960s. It goes on and on. Read, listen, and learn before you post. Otherwise, arguing with you, considering what you don't know, is not worth my time.

They even have a Black Gospel category, which implies that gospel is a white owned genre, when Gospel grew out of spirituals, and Call and Response developed by enslaved Africans. For a race, which has convinced the majority of earth's inhabitants that the white "race" is superior and owns everything (like claiming to have discovered America in 1492 when the indigenous people had inhabited the land from coast to coast for thousands of years before or putting forth that Bo Derrick discovered braids after wearing them in the movie 10 when braids had been worn forever by women of color are just two examples) The Lone Ranger, Betty Boop, and so many other examples are of white washing out Black people from history. It's long overdue that POC reclaim what was theirs all along. It's interesting how classical music, which originated in Europe, is claimed by the entire globe by anyone who can master and perform the style. But even so, POC have had to be seated at that table as well.

The discovery of America to white people means the discovery of America according to a european point of view,we never said that nobody was there first,we never said that we were the first human beings to find out,we only said that we were the first europeans to find out,we didn't know about its existence,so was a discovery to us and for the rest of the world. Maybe you should see the meaning of discovery in the diccionary.

@@dhsf5937You prove my point about ignorance being bliss. Esther Jones, a star at the Cotton Club and Black woman, was known as 'Baby Esther', her stage name, created a character which became known to you and the world as 'Betty Boop'. A white woman named Helen Kane copied and stole Esther's persona, tone of voice, lock, stock, and barrel. The ownership case went to court, the theft was proven, and Helen lost her case. Look it up, don't take my word for it. The Lone Ranger and others like Jerry Lewis based his entire comedic personality, physicality, and whole TV comedic acts he stole from a Black Vaudville artist named Stampy. Lewis got away with the theft bc Black artists, at the time TV came along, weren't allowed to perform on TV (be seen of compared). Lewis went to Harlem and lifted Stampy's acts word for word without changing a thing. Being white, knowing Black history, not taught, requires doing your own research. Doing so ruins the narrative that the collective has been fed & white people hold dear. BTW: These are just a very few examples.

Everyone was wondering why this Black guy was on stage and not giving him a chance to sing. He started to sing and everyone stop to listen. He surprised all of us. We did not know he was into country music. He was the best singer of the night. Women were all over him after the song and wanted him to sing more and duets.

Black people have had all these platforms yet I haven’t see that in the entire existence of the BET awards where they given any awards for best Country Album,or Song! No awards for best Rock Album or Rock song! Food for thought! People love to make something racist, when they themselves have been discriminative against their own people as artists who create music in genres that otherwise would called”white folks music!

When asked why, responded that he was from Louisville and all black people in Louisville listen to country. Ray Charles not only listened to country, his country music recordings were highly regarded. There are numerous old recordings of black musicians playing country. Black musicians were often hired to play at white dances so virtually every black musician knew some amount of country.

Nelly singing songs from a album called country Grammer. Southern hip hop artist are actually more country than country music , they're singing in a distinct style that originated during 1700s
