Ebro, thank you for understanding the importance of Cowboy Carter. You don't need to like Beyoncé to acknowledge the way she shifts pop culture every time she drops an album. She is the only artist that does this. Although she is the biggest cultural figure in music/pop culture, she is still taken for granted. Beyoncé unfortunately will not be FULLY appreciated until she is gone.

THIS is what The Breakfast Club should've done. The way Ebro analyzed this album and understood the clear message and vision that Beyonce painted allows people to understand everything that was put into making this masterpiece. I really wish people would actually listen to the message and how she has an album full of different sounds of music that even make up country music.

@@bankm4856 exactly. Beyoncé is effectively pushing her beehive audience to a genre that is small compared to the genre she is known for aka Pop music. Its harder to get a #1 song or album in pop with all the competition so she can easily come to country and take it over. Its just like what Kanye West did when he couldn't get a #1 rap song anymore so he made a Gospel album and took that genre over with his huge fanbase and easily got #1. Its just like trans men who want to compete against women aka easier competition because they know they can win #1. Just how a trans man would be considered punching down since most cant win against their own kind so they find easier targets instead of punching up to their own weight class and gender so to speak that is what Beyoncé is doing by taking the #1 spot away from an actual artist from that genre by using her beehive fan base to get her a #1 in a smaller genre with no competition her size. Oh and if you criticize her you're a bigot and racist apparently.

Fun Fact... This album was actually Act i, initially, and Renaissance was meant as Act ii. In lieu of the pandemic, Bey decided to hold off on putting this one out. Once the shutdowns ended and we were able to get "back outside" she and her team decided that RENAISSANCE should go out first - because it was what the world needed. Dance, free expression, fun and partying. So this county genre-blend album has just been sitting for a few years and was supposed to be the FIRST album release, which is WILD when you consider it.

Finally somebody said it. This is the best analysis of Cowboy Carter. Beyonce won most of her Grammys in categories such as Urban, RnB etc. very few in the Pop categories. Tyler the Creator complains how they also miss categorized his music. Given black people are the roots of country, blues and rock, Beyonce is making a statement with this album. As a black woman I like to listen to all types of music ( rock is my favorite). My friends say to me a black girl is not supposed to like rock. And I say rock was invited by black people. Just like the government does with redlining with housing and segregation in the school districts there seems to be similar segregation in the music industry. As you can see all the fuss over Cowboy Carter compared to renaissance. And he is right, Miley and Post can jump around genres and no one cares. Gwen Stenfani, Lady Gage and Madonna make all different kinds of music. Nobody really complains . But Beyonce a black woman does it, it’s an issue. Regardless how much you enjoy the music of Cowboy Carter Beyonce is making her statement.

@@abigailh7715The history behind Cowboy Carter is The Carter Family's famous guitar playing technique, the Carter Scratch, was taught to them by Leslue Riddle. Black cowboys invented the banjo & their singing field hollers, game songs, & work chants adapted from the tradition of ring shout is how country music came to exist. Many genres of music currently co-opted by non black people are rooted in blackness. Maybe you should start with taking your own advice & finish with asking yourself why it's so important for you to discredit black artistry.

This album calls America out for it's crimes, walks us through who she is as an artist who has done nothing but work and is stepping into her motherly pride. She's pulling from all of our roots and spitting them back up at us to digest in good fun. I know some people won't like it, but she's making history by making statements and showing us our history and current place in time. She is a beacon of hope for a better future and her music is quite literally a beacon for us all to come together and spread love. She also showed that she has faith in herself by persevering even when the world tells her she can't. She's that girl. What an inspiration?! Also, the more I listen to the album, the more I love it.

I have or am learning so much about Black music history and how it has been systemically redlined for black artists in every genre. Yet it’s our creations. Same with Reggae & Dub. This album is a war cry that horse is a war horse. The layers of this body of work is exceptional in every way. I was a very casual Beyoncé fan 🇬🇧🇯🇲 but hearing this album allowed me to see the whole artist that was relatable to me has a Caribbean British woman. I have been down so many rabbit holes with this album from the Italian link, the opera, Chitlin Circuit documentaries, Linda Martell’s history and Son House, finding so many current black country artists on Spotify l had to build a playlist. I love the album sonically too. I researched Rhiannon Giddens the banjo 🪕 player on Texas Hold Em remarkable musician/singer Grammy winner . The journey continues so much to reflect & soak in. Beyoncé should be proud of this album and all involved. Masterpiece 🤠🎠🎤🎶🐦‍⬛🎸🐝🙌🏾❤️🔥🌍

Facts Ebro! It seems that these country music / cowboy themes and shining that light on that history has been percolating with the Carter family around the time of that “Harder They Fall” movie.

This album is meant to serve as a musical education of the African Americans historic place w/in Country music, which would sound like Irish Folk (great in It's own right, mind you) if it weren't for the Blues & Gospel of the enslaved Africans. This includes the BANJO, which was created by enslaved Africans in the Caribbean then, later brought to The States. Yes, the banjo wasn't created by the Appalachians but by Africans. I could also go into the Black artists that many of the earlier big name white country artists learned from then portrayed as their style.... as it was with Elvis and Black artists like Roy Hamilton, Big Mama Thornton, Chuck Berry and Sister Rosetta Tharpe - The Godmother of Rock & Roll), but it would take awhile. ;) Beyonce adds a bit of those artists work into this album as well. Her last few projects have been a meld of grand musical production, a mosaic of Black History and how the two interconnect. It appears that Beyonce is in a period of the Reclamation and Rejoicing of African American Culture, trying to correct the record due to the erasure and gate keeping whilst also trying to push The Culture forward in Unity, Knowledge and Beautiful Experiences and Conversations. 😎 It's what she's become known for. The Superficial and surface level won't fully appreciate this album over the more curious and expansive minded.

When it comes to beyonce a lot of peoples misunderstanding comes from false information, media can be misleading and loves thriving off of negativity at times, but every star faces that, the top will always have more criticism though, it’s ok to not like her music aswell, everyone ain’t for everybody, that’s life.. plenty more great artist out there aswell, a lot of us beyhive get her message, and we glad she’s still here four decades later 👌
