We never had that much variety over here initially, most of the neon style testers we had were from Martindale. We started seeing more variety when the LED versions came to the market.

I received that Ideal tester as an apprentice with the tool bag they gave us. Used it for a couple years. It worked good. Like you said built like a tank and the top pick for wiggy type meters of that time.

Sorry, you are wrong!! The original ""Wiggy"" was called Wiggington"" named after the company who made the ""Wiggington"" . Later the company was bought by Square D!! I have been licensed Master Electrician and in the trades for 51 years. I have the original black case and the original ""Wiggington "" that was given to me by my father 65 years ago when I started learning the trade. I bought the version you have 1976 and a couple more two. I agree with you about the Ideal Volt / Con tester, I have all 3 Ideal testers 61-065, 61-076, and the smaller Volt / Con tester that fits in your shirt pocket.
