Iconic Canadian Mounties collapse during appointment of new commissioner

Two RCMP cadets fainted as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was giving a speech in Regina on March 9. Trudeau was naming Brenda Lucki as the RCMP’s first permanent female commissioner. During the speech at the RCMP Heritage Centre in Regina, two cadets standing behind the podium could be seen falling over during the announcement.

Good observation. I've done regimental parades. 1200 men in like 8 companies. French Foreign Legion. You could have a two hour parade like this and nobody faints. It happens but still rare. For like 25-30 people. 2 people fainting is absurdly high. Western people are weak and cant even stand up straight for a couple hours, I know. I'm western too, born and raised in Canada. I was the weakest and suffered the most in basic training. In my basic training of 55 men first week 5 French men of 7 asked and returned home. Of the two that completed the training, only one finished the 5 year contract. The other deserted. 30 went to régiment at the end of instruction. Myself included to the infantry. Of all the anglaphones I did instruction with; 1 American, 1 Irishman, 1 South African, 1 Englishman (ex marine commando), 1 German, 1 Canadian (myself, the worst of the lot). I was the only one that completed the contract and honourably discharged. Ever man from the developed countries deserted from my recruit class. Maybe a dozen of the beginning 55 man basic training class actually completed the 5 year contract. "No Mercy/ merci in the Legion" -Foreign Legion Infantry Corporal 2013-2018.

The right thing to do is to be quiet so they can remain focused on hearing a for a weakened pulse. Or so people can hear when they yell out for someone to get a emt or so they can hear if the airway is clogged or if there was some gum or a tooth in the way.... trudeau could've killed that person through his arrogance, and would've fired anyone who told him to be quiet

No, it’s actually really hard to stand at attention in a big uniform and not move a muscle, your legs and body don’t get the right blood pumping to your brain and you collapse, it happens a lot in the military

Common, it's not that hard. They're Mounties, for goodness sake. I spent a summer in the grenadier/bearskin uniform standing and marching in the blazing hot sun; it was demanding but not THAT bad. Maybe the RCMP is getting soft; after all, they have elevated the goal of equality above all other priorities, including maintenance of law and order.

I remember being in air cadets and having people pass out. Then other people do because they just saw the previous dude pass out. I was trained that if you get light headed take a knee, take your hat and hold it under your mouth in case you throw up. Officers will tend to you and help you out. Idk if that transfers to RCMP but it should.

This is very common. Standing in one spot like this for long periods of time is a skill noone outside the military/police ever talks about. It's very easy to screw it up and faceplant. Through cadets and my career in the military I saw countless people either pass out or drop to their knee to be escorted off the parade square. The worst I ever saw was in air cadets, a girl right in front of me thundered in so hard she broke her jaw and bit her tongue in half. She didn't collapse, she tipped forward like a falling tree. I'll never forget it.

Admit it, they do not want anything to do with our society. They see anyone that is not the same as them as less than them. They are the true zenophobes and racists. That is why they mostly keep to themselves in their little enclaves with the exception of a few who actually try to assimilate with the rest of us. No different than anywhere else in the world.

When standing for long periods of time don't lock your knees because that restricts blood flow increasing the chances of you passing out. That's how people faint during weddings. When you see someone swaying like that, and look like they're about to faint, wrap your arms around their waist to catch them from hitting their head and assist them to the ground .
