You realize all the crashes so far including the lastest...now appear to be pilot error. "Roy Halladay appeared to be hot doggin' it in his plane in the moments before his crash -- making extreme and unusual changes in altitude ... this according to multiple witnesses. TMZ Sports has obtained footage shot by boaters who say the ex-MLB star's plane was going from 100 feet in the air down to 5 feet and then back up again ... repeatedly. The boaters were so shocked by the flying pattern, they pulled out their cell phones to capture the bizarre dips and rises. Moments later, the plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico -- and the boat full of witnesses raced over to the crash scene to see if they could help. Once they arrived, it was clear the pilot was dead. The responders called 911 and waited for help to arrive. We spoke with other boaters in the area who told a similar story -- "dramatically increasing and decreasing in elevation." Another witness says, "He was flying like that all week. Aggressively." The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the crash.

You need an SPL.. Sport Pilot License. Of which you need at least 20 hours of flight time, including at least 15 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor, of which at least two hours are cross-country flight training. Ten takeoffs and ten landings to a full stop (with a traffic pattern) at an airport. Three hours of flight training in preparation for the practical flight test (completed within 60 days of the practical flight test). At least five hours of solo flight time in a single-engine airplane, including at least one solo cross-country flight of at least 75 nautical miles, with landings at a minimum of two points, and one leg of at least 25 nautical miles. A valid U.S. driver’s license (not under suspension or revocation) or a third-class Medical Certificate issued by an approved Medical Examiner.

And from your comment about radio communication I suspect you do not own a pilot license. TCAS is useless here because while flying below surrounding ground level it won't work anyway. Aside from that if you really want to watch that little screen while flying this kind of maneuvers you will probably hit the ground very soon. There is no radio contact with each other execpt for uncontrolled airfields (even there not really), formation flying or maybe some other occacions, but blasting through valleys, lakes and rivers are not among them. How would you report the position anyway? I don't know the FAA regulations well enough but I guess flying that low is only permitted for takeoff and landing anyway. Everything else probably needs a special permit. At least that's the situation in EASA-land.

As a surviving float plane pilot, this is exactly the kind of nonsense that killed Mr. Halladay last week. Passenger should sue pilot for endangering his life maneuvering at high speed, in close proximity to glassy water. Lovely little plane, about to go extinct because of inexperienced or stupid pilots. Insurance Companies will have no part of this nonsense.

please, could you do the same witth a few extra cams? We only see the board! BTW, it seems great ! THX.
AWESOME!!!!The greatest plane in the whole world!I hope I will get one.P.S.What was that red blink light on the control panel somewhere in the midfle of it,it blinked somewher at 40:50 and way before somwhere at 20:04 and few sec later?
I remember well when I was confusing all the flight terms and was overall a duchebag about flying, but I'm really concerned about this platform within LSA where we will have a lot of inexpereinced folks with tons of money to burn in the air. It's a recipe for disaster, but no more the "autopilot" has been for Tesla. Fun times ahead Enjoy your plane and please be careful
Awesome video! (First flight deck POV without advertising your Asian girlfriend!) But was truly impressed with the water landing.
The video I was waiting for...but needs more com. Still...worth 1 hour and 36 minutes...
What did he say bout the windows at 11:47? Good thing you raised the camera. :) Unpractical color that buoy at 30:09 has.
I don't know how much the rider learned; seemed he was more interested in taking pictures than listening to the Icon representative.
I wonder how the icon A5 will match up against the vickers wave amphibious aircraft? I see the cockpit of the A5 is noisy like a Cessna 152.
Wish you could have recorded com.
Wish you had better video angle but still loved it
I'm not sure where his camera is mounted, but it would have been ideal if it was higher.
nice job on the audio

Sorry so late on the post but is it me or does the aircraft seem to want to roll to the left at center stick?
Is it just me? or does that control panel have a real Darth Vader thing going on?
What a great little aircraft. I learned to fly in the Cessna 152/172 platform ....... It is hard for me to grasp the concept of not looking through a prop. What first caught my attention of this aircraft is the angle of attack indicator. Something that is long overdue on general aviation instrumentation. Correct me if I am wrong but this AC falls under sport licensing not private?
@brigit6281

Yes, I believe a sport license is still all that is required for the A5.
What if you hit those geese or ducks?
Can you take off from sea and landinng to sea ? fuserage colossion problem under salt enbiraments?
Very cool, but they should have fitted a proper altimeter, like any other airplane. What's that hiking altimeter thingy doing in a multi-hundred thousand US$ airplane?
I want to buy this plane!
What an incredible plane! They did a great job of making it feel like an automobile. 🛩⚓️
@andrewcullum7097

Motocop, Aircraft are NOT automobiles. If you got that impression, then the video is seriously flawed. There are quite a few more safety parameters with aircraft, as opposed to automobiles.
The A5 is technically impressive. The thrill seeking mode of flying it is not. Aggressive low flying will sooner or later kill you. See?
HARASSING DUCKS! I WANT ONE!
Still like my Piper Cub on Edo1320's more.
Its ability to land on both tarmac and water is fantastic, although i would say, its design truly needs to be a bit more robust to truly be of higher capabilities for such tasks in weather that a bit more challenging than say.. perfect conditions. I doubt it being truly capable of landing on wavy waters. 2 to 4 foot swells.
raise cam dude it's like I'm a baby sitting there
Icon plane #5 just crashed at lake Berryessa that killed the two occupants. The canopy literally separated from the plane killing the 2 Icon employee's.

Yeah. I was the first responder on that crash. These planes are so light. the whole top was sitting about 10 feet away from the plane exposing the whole cockpit. The canopy was not the cause of the accident. But it sure didn't help protect them.

Tron Javolta did they say if the parachute had been deployed
All I could see was your dashboard?
Notice they don't get out? See1:04:21. They would get their pants wet and it would be a mess. When the water drops the beach is useless. This airplane is not valid in most State and Fed parks. You need to have aux power to move around without the main prop.
What kind of fuel does it use?
What's the red annunciator light at 1:00:05 ~ ?
1:20:00 How is that not dangerous? High-bank turns at that altitude? Otherwise... nice video!

bythedog yeah that was pretty irresponsible. You can hear the stall alert and if anything goes wrong at that moment they wouldn’t be able to recover
Juan, excellent posting as always! Did you ever get my box of books via Lee?
I give this dufus one solo flight
Where was this taken at
does it has an Autopilot?
Has anyone even taken delivery yet? I heard Icon is pissing a bunch of people off
The chair creaks...
It looks more like a car than a plane on the inside, interesting
FYI Roy Halladay killed himself as he was off his face on drugs whilst flying this wonderful plane.
I want one...does it come in black? lol
lol is a little creepy the strange laughing mouth reflex at 31:58
The flight instructor sounds super annoyed
How to buy this glider
What lake is that?
"You don't need flaps when you have an AoA instrument." Really!
Whoever said there's no such thing as a dumb question never had to take this guy on a demo flight. Painful. Fly it like a fighter jet and you'll be sleeping with the fish... like three people so far.
how much to buy???
"Here we go"..... rather than...... Clear Prop!! ??
Next crash will be from flying into geese killing passenger and pilot on takeoff or landing. Repeated flying like this will catch up to them...
And it also blinked at 46:46 ....
He can tell you were wasting his time! :)
hello cool
Plane with a lawn mower engine..What could go Wrong?

Too bad...Couldn't hear any of the commentary and the camera angle was too far down into the cockpit. Couldn't see the outside during flight. :/

MickeyNM it's by design, this aircraft is designed to cater to the sport leisure market. the casual flyer if you will...
