Icon 48oz Large Steel Core Dead Blow Hammer Review
This actually seems reasonable for the price and is the long awaited upgrade to the very old and orange Pittsburgh dead blow hammers. It just could use a softer and more comfortable handle.

The orange clown hammers are great and cheap. I beat up the 3lb for years now in repair carpentry. Beat the hell out of it, still going strong. 7$ on sale, can't go wrong

Great warranty too
I visited 2 HFs today. They are not close to where I live. I have to admit that some of the pricing has cooled my interest. I bought a 4 pound dead blow off of the SO truck and they have replaced it 3 times. I paid about $100 for it initially. They continually upgrade their products and they have always given me the latest and greatest current tool. No regrets on that purchase.

Snap-On can be worth it if you're a pro using the tool for work - my brother was a mechanic for part of his career, and found it so (although I used to joke he was working for Snap-On, but getting paid by the garage). I'm just a DYI guy, so often even a cheap Pittsburgh tool is good enough for me - a tool I can justify buying is much more useful than a really good tool I can't.

What did you have to do to get it warranted? I have one I need replaced, but I don’t think it’s quite ready in terms of condition.

You have to do it with the franchisee or call corporate @@tenmil1
I have all 3 sizes from Icon. I use them in the industrial setting. Great for moving heavy metal parts into desired places.
I have one of the orange hammers and it's been a fantastic tool for me.
A 45 oz Soft Face Dead Blow made by Trusty-Cook in the USA is $39.00. Or if you have a store that sells Tekton tools it can also be had for $45.
I bought a Neiko 4lb. dead blow for $21 from Azon. Pretty nice. I wouldn't pay 40.
Icon has very comfortable ergonomic handle
Would love to see a video of tools that you actually like and recommend.
Hello again Catus Maximus and Tiny Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I am not sure about the ICON Hammer. $40 bucks seems too much. Again thank you 😊
I got the 4 lb orange one I can't believe that red ones like 50 bucks you know it's basically the same hammer
I have the trusty cook and the icons the exact same hammers and I prefer the icons to me my opinion is the icons are way better love them
the cheap orange dead blows have a life time warranty too and there 6 to 13 dollars

I've had them for years, and only destroyed one. I didn't bother to try to return it,: I knew when I started hammering I should get another hammer, but I was too lazy, and so when I finished it and it was wrecked, I just replaced it on my next visit. If I were using the tools regularly for work, or even quite often at home, I would get better ones.
My machine excludes the use of any comfort grip tools. So much oil (metal forming) that that type of rubber does not last. I've also seen the NAPA sells their brand of deadblows, too.
I've been very happy with my orange HB deadblows. They also have a softer feeling plastic, and have held up very well so far. They're great for things like setting or adjusting decking support columns...generally anything you don't want marred, but need to shift or move.
Where to find that Husky 27oz Hammer grey head with red handle?
ICON, you out, of your cash...
My only complaint is the grip.
I can 100% not recommend the Icon hammers. Not when you can get Trusty Cooks for a few bucks more, and they're US made.

I've noticed that with alot of Harbor Freight's "premium" tools. Usually brands like Channellock, Klein, Trusty Cook, Estwing, and others are literally only a few dollars more and they're US made.

if you do watch repairs don't waste your money on this
Dude found every way to nit pick this and HF as a whole. Dude is just a hater
to be honest it don't look a great buy for 40+ bucks, looks bit of a lower cost manufacture choice effort and trusty cook best way go for mid-range decent dead blow hammer options . HF either needs sell it cheaper or make it more premium ...
Are you out of breath?
I would be more impressed if this was a 4 pound a 48 oz is a 3 pound would rather have a 4 pound and the dead blow with the round and flat metal heads that are online are a knock off of the snap on @Catus Maximus
It's over priced around me it's 69 bucks for the 48 oz at my stores @Catus Maximus

Harbor freight's pricing is getting all screwed up the Quinn ratcheting wrenches are 135 at my local store yet 90 online. This dead blow hammer is both 40 online and in my local store so they have got some real internal pricing issues going on.
