Here's a video from day 42 of Rob's Iceman build. Before filming, I had sanded and taped off the fretboard. After experimenting with another guitar neck, I primed, sanded, cleaned, and painted the neck. I attempted to use the very least amount of primer and paint as I am trying to avoid the paint line at the fretboard edges.
The experiment was using a mixture of teak oil and color tone's black stain. While it did not reach the darkness needed for the Iceman, it will be used in a future build, as it really makes the grain come alive, even on this less-than-perfect Teisco bass guitar neck.
I also unboxed the Adam's Swirl KIller polisher. This is a 12mm throw random orbital polisher that will run 3-inch pads. This should really bring the Iceman to life!!
Up next, with more clear-coat on order and two days away, I still may go looking for a suitable substitute, to save some time.
