God I haven't watched this in years but I saw it in my old favourites folder and I decided to rewatch it now as a video editor myself, and honestly I'm blown away. The cuts are snappy but easy to follow, you've got a really good narative going through the background, and it ends on such a good note! Incredible work, thank you!

I love this. I love how you edited it without constant filters and blurs that almost all of the music video makers these days use. It's a pure video that shows that effects aren't what makes video great. Easily the best Trek video I've seen so far, keep 'em coming!

Wow, thanks! I've actually never bothered to really learn how to use effects aside from fade in/out and some color correction, because somehow I find it more rewarding to edit using quick and clean cuts and it's become kind of a style for me. Thank you so much for this amazing comment!
Honestly, this is the best Star Trek video edit I have ever seen. And I´ve seen a lot. When I´m trying to convince my friends to join some of my fandoms, I usually show them a video I really like... And while I was watching this, I was so blown away by it´s beauty, just sitting here and whispering to myself: "This is it. That´s the one!". If this won´t convince them that Star Trek is fucking awesome, nothing ever will. You did a great job, and I LOVED it.

well this is pretty amazing! your choice of clips to the lyrics of the song is spot-on. throughout the whole vid i was screaming "THIS TOTALLY FITS" b/c the editing is just brilliant. amazing work!

AHHH BASTILLE YES. THIS IS LIKE MY FAVORITE SONG OF THEIRS. This is a very well planned video in terms of matching up with the song. You've really captured the theme and essence of Kirk through this. When I saw the video, I was a little skeptical because of the mood of the instrumental of the song along with the more feels inducing parts of Star Trek. But it ended up fitting very well with the song and set a new tone that I thought was executed very nicely. Also, at the end I was expecting like his hand slipping from Spock's on the window or something, but what you did was entirely unexpected for me at least and it was an incredible way to wrap up the video that tied in with the song very nicely. So much yes there. The editing was very good as well and was pretty clean. I liked the lack of filters and things and cheesy transitions since they often detract from the meaning of the video. This was nice, clean, and really well edited. The only complaint that I would have is that the images were so rapid fire at points. At some points of the song it worked out really well (there was somewhere that it seemed the clips followed the piano line and it ended with Jim and Bones jumping off of the cliff and that was really cool but I can't find it), but I would've liked to see more of the type of editing that was executed at 1:27 with "Your hands protect the flames from the wild winds around you", a brilliantly edited piece with the clips jumping to crew reactions with the changes in the piano melody and lingering on Kirk on the end. I just watched those five seconds like ten times in a row because wow. Overall, incredible job! I really enjoyed it, and though at first I was skeptical with the song choice I thought that it worked out really well. It's probably one of the most original and best planned out Kirk videos that I've seen. My inner fangirl is going nuts right now. Fantastic job!

Wow, thank you so much for your insightful and detailed feedback! I'm very glad you liked it especially if you were wary of the song choice at first. I can admit Bastille's songs are often misused in fanvids and end up clashing with the footage, so I'm happy you thought it fit. . The two parts you liked are ACTUALLY the same piano line, the one that comes right before the song chorus, which goes to show that I've at least tried to be consistent lmao. I must say that I've tried to make the editing go hand in hand with the beat but yes, I can see why you feel the speed of some clips is too much (I admit my hand slipped a bit in some parts). However, I've tried sticking to the beat - I can't follow the piano and then ignore the drums! But this song's beat is so confusing man I sweated quite a bit of blood for this. Anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment, I greatly appreciate it. You've made me really happy, pal.
I am here watching and listening nearly every day since 2020 locked us up. This has got to be the number one fav. Helped keep me afloat. Love Captain Kirk!

My two online friends have introduced me to Star Trek, and a few minutes ago, I just finished watching Into Darkness for the first time ever (with them on facetime). Immediately after finishing the movie, one of my friends told me I HAD to watch this specific video. and it. was. worth it. the way you synced the clips to the music, the way you cut between parallels in the different movies, the different scenes, the different character moments. ugh. i'm in love. this is SO good. like so, so good. wow. incredible. from somebody just getting into the star trek fandom, thank you SO much for making such a masterpiece.

Well, I just wrote a really long and elaborate comment regarding Kirk's AOS & TOS personality differences and how perfect this song is. BUT I forgot about the fact that my playlist was on Autoplay, so it changed sites & my comment was wasted. As I am beyond mad at KZread (and my own stupidity ^^), I am keeping it short, but there will be another longer comment, when I'm less frustrated, as I think that amazing work like that requires attention :) So, for now: Thanks for that amazing video, which has totally become my new favorite Star Trek Fan Video of all times. :D
