I have ankylosing spondylosis and take painkillers ever day of my life. For the self righteous people who condemn me for taking painkillers all I can say is they have never experienced true pain.

Too bad that our government limits the distribution of all healing CBD, it could replace most painkillers and it's actually healthy to use on a frequent basis.

This might shock some people, but I think that pain in the acute phase is a good thing. Of course I am not talking about chronic pain, which is really a different subject IMO. But, acute pain is part of the body's natural response of dealing with the injury. The pain causes us to rest and protects us from further injury. The inflammation in the acute phase brings about the physiological healing processes. I know bone of us want to slow down and miss anything, but it's probably the best cure. Besides if we mask the pain with high levels of pain meds and then go right back out there and do activities that cause the pain, aren't we just like the diabetic who says I'm going to eat whatever I want and just take more insulin?

I suffer from severe pain daily. Mainly because I can't afford to get my teeth fixed. I am losing one to two teeth a year. My financial situation will not allow me to afford to get them extracted, nor does it allow me to get them fixed.. I would happily live with acute pain if I didn't have to suffer from the neuralgia pain felt when a nerve is dying in my mouth.

Ibuprofen reduces inflammation, which is largely for anti-infection. Infection was always the main cause of death in the past. If infection is not a risk then ibuprofen for just three days helps healing. Thats why the said three days.

@@turdmanbehindagopro2920 You reminded me of the awful pain as a kid I had with my terrible teeth. I would roll around on the floor in agony. Finally, at age 15 my parents took me to a dentist that pulled all but 8 teeth out. Dentures are no fun but the pain is gone. I sure hope you got help. Isn't Medicaid for teeth also?

Great advice. I took them for 6 days. The first 3 days I took 3 times/day and the remaning two twice/day and on the final day just one. All were 400mg. They helped me as the acute back pain was terrible. I made sure to eat a LOT before I took them. They help whack that initial sharp pain. Exercise and massage then took care of the rest. What I will say to those with acute LBP is what helped me a lot was standing and lying down (only to sleep) but never sitting. I avoid sitting as much as I can. My work desk is now a standing desk. Im dreading flying now and im gonna carry the brufen as insurance. Thanks for your excellent videos!

Exactly the way I take them. If I have severe pain I will take 4 pills every 8-10 hours. I take the liquid caps and it kicks in pretty fast, usually within 10-20 min. I don't have a protocol for taking this. If I hurt I take 4 pills, and I keep doing it until the pain stays gone.

Ibuprophen has a reputation of slowing down healing. I no longer take it. I take turmeric and boswellia for pain, which works better and has no side effects once you are used to them. They take some time to start working at first, but for chronic pain, they work very well in the long run.

Bob and Brad here is another option it seems most are not aware of. That being topical ibuprofen rather than pill form. I first stumbled on to it when I was cycling in France. I wandered into a pharmacy in Albertville, France and asked the pharmacist for ibuprofen for my sore knee. She handed me a tube that I thought was toothpaste at first. Upon questioning her she explained that indeed it was topical ibuprofen (comes in gel or cream) and can be bought over the counter in Europe and many countries. And was much better than pill form for my type of issue as it can be applied directly to the site and doesn't create any issues with gastro system and less stress on kidneys and liver as it passes though your system. For the issue I was having it was extremely effective. Two applications that day relieved the soreness and inflamation I had been dealing with for a week. Unfortunately in the U.S. it is available only by prescription but can be obtained. However if you have anyone traveling to Europe or Canada they can easily walk into a pharmacy and pick you up a tube or two. I've found it to be much more effective than pill form for many types of sports related injuries or pain.

Anything at this point honestly will help, I literally cried at the fact I had to come back into my home instead of continuing on with my day it especially hurts when getting into and out of my vehicle again any advice will help, thanks in advance.

My GP recommended 3 Ibuprofen 3 times a day for 3 days, several years ago for some inflammation pain in my chest. He told me that given my age (near 60 at the time) that I might want to do this every year or so just to keep inflammation in check. But, like many, I don’t like to take pills unless I need to, so I didn’t follow that ongoing recommendation. Then recently I started having shoulder pain that I assume was a rotator cuff injury. I did the stretches and some resistance weight exercises for several months, which helped but didn’t completely eliminate the pain. Finally now, I started taking 3 Ibuprofen a couple of times a day and it is much better.

@@Ohkeh640 GP told me to do it for three days to reduce overall inflammation. For my shoulder issue I just took them for 2 days. I don't take them unless I have to. I prefer using a low carb diet, stretching and a 5 mile hike 3-5 times a week to keep general aches and pain at bay as I age. The State Park where I hike also has playground equipment and I'll hang from the cross bars to stretch my should. That has helped tremendously.

Question... Dosage of 600 mg 3 pills daily of ibuprofen for a 87 year old man with one knee pain is it ok?? My dad went to the hospital after he finished on bottle of ibuprofen of 600 mg 3 pills daily as he started his second bottle of ibuprofen of 600 mg as soon as he took the 1st pill of ibuprofen he went to the restroom to do #2 and lots of blood came out . Right away went to the emergency where he continued to do #2 with blood. I know that ibuprofen causes stomach bleeding, strokes and heart attacks. Hospital checked his stomach they found nothing...looked for hemorrhoids found nothing...looked for ulcers found nothing...Was the amount of Ibuprofen the cause of the stomach bleeding?? Because until this day the hospital and my dads doctor haven't told me what was the cause of this bleeding .My dad has no diabetes, no blood pressure , nothing wrong but his knee .
