I've visited India and Thailand for extended periods. I enjoyed the food in both countries and I found that my arthritis pain was decreased. When I return to the US the affect stayed with me for a few weeks and then the arthritis pain returned. Both countries use a lot of turmeric, pepper (blank and white), and very hot peppers (capsaicin).

When I was in India, the ladies I worked with say that whenever they finish a bottle of turmeric or curry powder, they put a little water in the bottle, swish it around and drink it. I take a couple of capsules a day, but with the other meds I'm on, I probably need to reconsider that.

He talked about how many tablets to take - not how many milligrams to take. The number of milligrams per tablet varies a lot around the world - in some countries his advice about ibuprofen, for example, could be fatal, because the tablets you get can be such a higher dose. So no, he was NOT on point.

I have chronic fatigue, rheumatoid arthritis and depression.I live in WA which doesn't have much sunlight most of the year and I have to be on my feet long hours at work. I've been trying these recently: 1.Gaia Herbs turmeric supreme extra strength once/day. 2.Rishi turmeric ginger tea in warm non-dairy milk in the evening. 3.Nordic Naturals ultimate Omega 3+ vitamin D3 once/day. (serving size is 2 soft gels but I take just 1). 4.I don't eat fast food, processed carbs, vegetable oil, sugar (sometimes high quality extra dark chocolate). 5. Light stretching throughout the day and taking walks twice a day to get over 10,000 steps( early morning and evening after dinner). I've been feeling more energized, better mood ; much less pain at the joints and muscles; sleep better.

I think you missed something. Turmeric carries bleeding risk like the other NSAIDs, because it is an NSAID. Don't forget that Aspirin was derived from the extraction of willowbark. Herbal anti-inflammatory is not a valid category. There are only active compounds and inactive compounds. In the turmeric in there is an active compound that acts a certain way because of its nature.

I am surprised you did not discuss that acetaminophen is present in a lot of over the shelf medications (such as neo citran) and you have to make sure you don’t get too much by combining medications. Also, acetaminophen is quite hard on the liver and you need to be careful how much alcohol you consume when taking it.

This is fantastic! In the EMS world, if I have a patient having chest pain and I think it's likely cardiac in nature, I have them chew 4 "baby" aspirin. (81 mg aspirin) It prevents the platelets from aggregating in the blocked coronary arteries, and can keep someone having a heart attack alive long enough to get them to the hospital. If it's one adult size aspirin, (375 mg) they can still chew it for the best and fastest way to get into the blood stream. It won't taste very good, but I'm pretty sure being dead tastes worse. Well done!

I've found that sometimes one of those will work very well on a certain type of pain and another will not do anything whatsoever. An example I can give was I was having very severe pain with an inflamed Achilles tendon and could barely walk. Tylenol extra strength did absolutely nothing to relieve it and I mean it was as if I hadn't taken anything at all. I bought Ibuprofen and the results were amazing. There was a great reduction in pain and the tendon went back to normal between a week or two. Other times it seems aspirin was just the ticket. At other times Tylenol seemed to work much better. I've only tried Aleve once and got no benefit from it at all.

Be careful, as a framing carpenter the pain increased a little every year, so every year I took a few more aspirin. By the time I was sixty I was in the habit taking six or more every work day. I nearly died from internal bleeding. I had lost so much blood that two doctors considered my survival a miracle. I haven't had an aspirin in a couple of years. I also consumed too much salt. The salt and aspirin abuse have done irreparable harm to heart and lungs. I now have cold feet that never warm up because my blood circulation is so poor. Now I am bedridden. I had no clue that it would be salt and aspirin that would do me in.

Whoa, so sorry to hear about your condition. Thank you for sharing. Many people use alot of salt, &/or aren't aware of the amount of salt they are consuming when they are eating out. 😞 Years ago i realized that if i ate at a diner 2 "healthy" meals, i would gain 5 lbs that week. When i didn't eat out, this wouldn't happen.

I'm 68 and active, lucky and happy that I take no painkillers of any kind, no ibuprofen, Aleve or any of them because I have no joint pain or any other pains either. If my liver could talk, it would thank me for that.

Thank you so much for such great information, I am recovering from a bulging disc that is touching the nerve on the right side and the Dr at the hospital prescribed the naproxen and some acetaminophen but didn’t tell me if I could take them together . Now I know 😊😊

then don't listen to a pharmacist, listen to an herbalist or functional medicine doctor. Amla is natural, all these drugs they are talking about are toxic, just because you can get them over the counter doesn't make them less harmful.
