I was just looking at my 1961, IBM Selectric ceritificate. I was teaching in Tennessee! I have a good technician who has refurbished five for me this month. This will cost me about $800. I want to start a group that would work like pen pal. If we pay about $10 a month and have a thousand or so USA members, we could have you as a resource person. Lol - I live with my daughter who is 44, never discussed the typewriter. When I was changing elements yesterday, she noticed me for the first time and asked "what are you doing? What's that ball thing"?

Is there a way for repairing the broken clip? Or a place where to buy new ones? Even the new model clips seem to be fragile.

Used to be replacement caps, but haven't seen any for decades. Sometimes if they are not to bad some small pin point drops of super glue on the plastic pins that run through the ball can be glued & even the outside edge of the cap, must be careful not to get that super glue into the pivot itself.

Do you have a video on how to recoil the rotation pulley? I am in urgent need of help on recoiling the rotation pulley.

i have one of these and when I type the letters seem to come out different, any tips on how to fix this??

Way to vague of a question/symptom. does it do it all the time ? all letters ? change ball ? rotate band off ? ball turning free ? rotate pulleys gummed up ? Timing set correct ? does hand cycle do it too ? did it work recently ? last service date ?
