The Italian American Museum of Los Angeles and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America are proud to present a free live virtual presentation and discussion with historians William J. Connell and Stanislao G. Pugliese, whose recent work, The Routledge History of Italian Americans, weaves a narrative of the trials and triumphs of one of the nation’s largest ethnic groups.
This comprehensive text spans 500 years of history and addresses themes such as the Columbian legacy, immigration, the labor movement, discrimination, anarchism, Fascism, World War II patriotism, assimilation, gender identity and popular culture. Connell, an Andrew Carnegie Fellow and La Motta Endowed Chair in Italian Studies at Seton Hall University, and Pugliese, a Professor of History and Queensboro UNICO Distinguished Professor of Italian & Italian American Studies at Hofstra University, will present an overview of this landmark volume, which features original essays by nearly 40 leading scholars.
