Yes, he spins it 360 to flick the blood off, and then strike the handle to remove any other lumps of flesh. It's very slick the way he does it. It's a standard thing with Katori Shinto Ryu. Very different to the blood removal technique in Iaido. He also wipes the back of the blade on his jacket while re-sheathing if you watch closely....

Chiburui (blood shake)was more for performance and entertainment purposes, in real life the swordsmen wouldnt use it, they would wipe it of with a cloth. Thats because you cant shake of blood from a blade and it wouldnt even be that much blood on it either.

​@@karstenseterbakken3617I personally think it would actually depend on the particular swordsman, I'm sure the classic air strike to sling it off was used plenty & definitely during battle as it's a quick method to remove most of it and then worry about the rest later when you know combat is over. Looking at pretty much any profession in life majority of people have their own techniques & tricks, most of these examples are like you mentioned for performance & also tradition.

He was a great man and a consummate master. Young people do not understand.

Sugino bastardised katori shinto ryu to the point where it is unrecognisable from the original teachings. Nothing he does here is correct. Every single technique he does is wrong and yet you all laud him as some kind of master. Utter rubbish and blatant false teaching deserves nothing but ridicule!

@@thefunfairvip Sugino Sensei is the man who wrote the first complete textbook on Katori Shinto Ryu with the approval and support of the entire expert council and the patriarch of the school himself in 1941. And you say that he did not understand the art? I would recommend that you study the issue fully, and not repeat stupid things after people who distort the truth.

do I see it propperly that when at the end of the form he "hits" the katana with his right hand, he turns it 360° to get rid of the blood? Does he turn it or just hits it a little without real turning the complete sword ?

I know that this was left seven years ago, though I shall answer. He spins his sword a full 360° and then taps it one last time, wiping the spine of the blade on his clothing at one point or another as well.
