IAC Ramp Down in Holley Terminator X for Fox Body Mustangs

In this video, I discuss the IAC Ramp Down functionality within the Holley Terminator X EFI System. In working with a gentleman named Jay Mosely, we have uncovered an issue in the tune that causes the rpms to hang high for a bit every time he gets off the throttle and attempts to coast to a stop. This is caused by settings in the IAC Ramp Down functionality that request the idle air valve's duty cycle to remain high until certain conditions are met. This video gives you ideas for how to make adjustments to this part of your tune to get the rpms to drop quickly and smoothly into your target idle rpm range.

How do you keep your AC with the terminator x kit?
ive got a manual car on a terminator thats stalling out after down shifting before going to neutral on approach to a stop. if i just drop it back to to neutral its fine only if i down shift do i have issues

That is one of my next areas to discuss.
Can I make my efi sound like a carb? Tap the throttle for a little rev and have it fall right down to idle without any ill effects?

To do this you’ll need to block off the idle air valve and tune without it.
Hi. I have my IAC parked position at 50% and ramp down at 4.2. Every time I come to a stop my rpms come down but blip back up to about 1400 then back down to normal 950 rpms. Even when I am parked and give it a bit throttle it always goes up then down and blips back up to 1400 - 1500 rpms then back to normal. Sometime it goes really low down to 850 then up again. Any suggestions?? Thank you.

I hate to say it. But the reason it automatically blips back up is because the deceleration logic in this system is lacking. When you cross back to your threshold above idle rpm, it’s going to open the valve 17-18% instantly. While the intent of this is reasonable, having a fixed and unavoidable iac increase is a little ridiculous. This is my single biggest complaint with the entire Holley efi system and will be the subject of a future video.

The logic I mentioned in my previous comment occurs regardless of which valve is being used.
I think my computer on my 89 is taking a hike. I may go this route.

Well if it is something you are already considering, it would be an ideal time to make the swap. I’m going to do a video soon to discuss this vs. a few other efi options for fox bodies to help people make an informed decision. I will say, though, Holley efi is by far the easiest system to tune that I have worked with.
