This video helped me a lot. I saw a guy doing this live on a dirt track car. He had the afr line rising and falling while he drove it and gave throttle stabs. Then he adjusted it on the fly. He was on a Link Ecu platform. Thanks for all the work you put into these videos. Rex in New Zealand.

Boom! Been waiting for this one. I figured these adjustments would be 90% by sound and feel, but it’s nice to know how to set up the log and what to look for to confirm what we’re hearing and feeling. I never thought to set the target AF flat so any change is an immediate feedback on if it wants more or less. I’ve been trying to overlay target AF with actual AF and it’s been running me in circles as far as interpreting results! I dig the longer videos. This one was laid out very clearly, and sometimes you just gotta nerd the fuck out on this stuff 👍🏼

Good stuff. On my E85 540 BBC big cam drag car, I ended up adding a bunch of fuel in the main fuel table at tip in just off idle. When I went to tracks with big altitude changes, tip in was horrible until I did this. I race at tracks at sea level to over 6000 feet and it took me a while to get it to run right everywhere.

Yup that’s another way you can do it. Kinda how i said in the video several ways to do it that kinda all have the same result just depends on how you use the car. Gotta be careful doing it in the main fuel table if it’s a part of the map that you would drive it but if it’s just somewhere you hit when reving it can work that way too

Thanks for the video. I have this fairly dialed on my car (stock headed 5.3.. cam.. 85mm.. billet atomizer 3s). My buddy’s car I’m struggling with. (37x ci ls with big rec port mast heads, twins, old Moran style billet atomizers). When you stab the throttle and it falls ok it’s face for a sec, wideband pegs lean, then it cleans up and pulls like a monster. Tried adding a ton of acceleration enrichment and didn’t clean it up. Then got it me thinking maybe it’s throwing so much fuel at it that raw fuel is passing through and I’m getting a lean reading. Going leaner didn’t help. Thing is driving me nuts Both cars setup for 8:2 peak and hold. Annoying

New subscriber here. Good job on the videos! Absolutely Killin it! Thank you! I did have a thought on the map based AE enrichment in where it might really come in handy if it can be configured this way. Since it's based on a map reading it could be useful in situations where guys are changing boost levels allot from low to high psi, it could be used to help add extra fuel to give a larger safety blanket for constant pressure changes guys make while at the track instead of constantly changing the actual 3d map. I still feel like the tune needs to be configured correctly for the setup but this might be useful in a quick fix type situation for guys looking to make a few quick pulls without an entire Dyno session. Thoughts on this?

@@JoeSimpsonAtTempest I kinda had my doubts myself but was a thought on how it could be applied. I guess I could see how it could just add too much fuel arbitrarily under extremely circumstantial conditions at the wrong times. More of a bandaid enrichment than just actually adding fuel where is metered and required. Throttle tip in would probably be where it would cause a lot of fuel to load up. Now that I think about it, not really all that great of an idea! Haha!

Logging is adjustable with the hp and dominator but not with the terminator X. But yes there are several ways you can go about it

@@JoeSimpsonAtTempest Good to know about the terminator. I was told a good rule of thumb for accel tuning is take your idle pw and no more than double it on the initial throttle splike in pw. in neutral or park.

had the holley term x system on a daily driven Ls since 2019- With the system set at default open loop "learn % " , I keep having problems with it leaning fuel out at idle when engine is cold. After building a new base fuel table , running it at a default % for a 5 days.. town, highway, various ways , I then reduced the open loop Learn %. and didnt have any problems. Engine was running really well in all realms. I recently increased the open loop learn % to a middle ground of 20% because it was a bit rich at idle when cold. .. and the system did it all over again-- leaning fuel to extremes to 17-23 AFR at cold idle, causing the engine to stumble while warming up. it goes away if I blip throttle .. and goes away once engine reaches 130F ?? Guess I will remap the idle realm of the fuel map.. or should I just screw with the idle enrichment chart?

Sounds like all of your warm up enrichment stuff is what needs work. never let closed loop correct warm up conditions it will fight you every time

@@JoeSimpsonAtTempest Thank You ! I agree. I have primarily focused on the base fuel map.. after solving some injector issues (stock was too small. then went to larger). Now trying to solve a weird lean stumble spot between open loop & closed loop, just off idle. And the random appearance of leaning idle when cold I spoke of. Thank you for all your videos & input- they do help.

What would make us understand better about enrichment is if you did a comparison on a car you tuned and shown us each table before and after you tuned it to show the changes you made and the direction each table took to achieve that perfect tune while giving us an overview in order of how it was accomplished. I know each car is different but deciphering the way each table is actually adjusted against the Holley base tune files gives us an idea of the steps you took too if you do it in order too as Holleys tables are basically in no specific order yet the tuning strategy requires an order to get the perfect tune. Maybe they should of structured their software to be alot more user friendly like they claim the system is but really isnt or there wouldnt be 3 Holley EFI based cars in for tuning at the same time IMHO seeings my local tuner has been in business 32 years and has only tuned 11 Holley based systems in the last 5yrs .

Tech support was alot more forthcoming back then when the EFI systems first came out over 10yrs ago too.Theyd write a tune and send it back for being a valued paying customer supplimenting their paycheck and 401k according to the tuner too..Not now as those techs are now tuners looking for side cash.

One of the things I've always struggled to understand is flex fuel afr calculations. I know alot of people say when you run flex to keep it on gas scale. Im curious how to calculate what afr is safe depending on ethonal content. On my old stock computer setup with 70% ethonal, I took 70% of the difference between stoich (14.7-9.1=5.6 5.6/.3= 1.68 9.1+1.68=10.⁷⁸). I feel this isn't correct way of going about it and it gets kinda muddy when I was trying to setup fuel for boost, I didn't know if it was a linear add 70% or if I'm overthinking it. so for the time being I just ran 93 because I don't understand it well enough to trust my numbers.

@@JoeSimpsonAtTempest ok that makes alot more sense. I didn't understand how a sensor that reads lambda could differentiate fuel. Apparently the person that originally explained it to me either didn't understand or I misunderstood either way I appreciate the info

I purchased a set of injectors that are supposed to be high impedance and it came with a tune sheet to put in the computer. Car runs like shit floods motor. I set it to low impedance and lower all of the fuel table settings car runs better. Why is that
