I wish I knew this about the DRIVER SWING sooner!

Спорт

I wish someone told me THIS about the driver swing soon... For years and years, golfers were taught to swing in a way that was killing their distance off the tee. Today, we go back to an old-school driver swing that encourages power and consistency!

Pete, I have to say, man, you are an awesome teacher. Some people just have the ability to make the student understand what they are actually trying to teach.oh it helps when you have the knowledge , and knowledge brings confidence. I'm loving this channel, Thank you.

100% agree with this video, as per a previous comment I to have had back issues after not only being a mechanic, but having a restricted back swing. When I got serious about golf, I discovered the full backswing (thanks Sam Snead) and never felt better. Dare I say it but it even became natural feeling. There is a point when you turn so far you nearly lose sight of the ball but ball striking improved ten fold.

Excellent demo my friend. Loved how you used the alignment sticks to show separation between the hips and shoulders.

Your dang right Pete, after 3 back surgeries my x factor is just that. I'm still flexible but have to turn in unison. Slightly lifting my lead heel, just slightly, has helped with distance the lost from not being able to coil up in the back swing

Turning to allow yourself to have “time” to complete the downswing makes all the difference in the world. Thanks! ⛳️👊

Just a little reminder (especially for older viewers) make sure u do some light stretching before attempting a bigger turn as you will sometimes use muscles you have not for a long time and injury is possible... (I know this from experience).

Great point! Always best to stretch before swinging/playing regardless, in my opinion.

There are some great videos of Bobby Jones swinging a club (including the driver) and he made a big backswing turn by allowing his left heel to come off the ground - something I learned us old f..ts need to do to help generate clubhead speed and distance. Works for me.....

It might also help to check your launch and spin numbers on a launch monitor. If you're getting 165 mph ball speed with driver, you should be carrying it 15 - 20 yards longer than you are with optimized launch conditions, 265 - 270 yards. Maybe you need to lower the loft of your driver, OR you're hitting down (negative attack angle) causing excess backspin?! Getting to a launch monitor years ago really helped me understand what I was doing wrong in my driver set up. Good luck!

@alexanderkerr9873 No problem. I hope it helps you half as much as it did me. I had been setting up with driver like an iron, hitting down, and causing over 4,000 rpm of backspin, killing my distance. Now my average carry is around 270 yards with driver. Big difference for me hitting a PW or 50° into a green than a 6 or 7 iron.

Not to the same speed but same symptom. top tracer says 148mph at my fairway finder and 155 at my hit got hard, yet I rarely carry more than 225 with either...

Ive gor a daft question to, I have been working on my swing a key area ive noticed thats helped improve consistency is turning ny hips first theb move my arms. Ive noticed that my practice swings always feel better and visually i can see ive take a divot infront of where my imaginary ball is. However when i go to take ny actual shot i tense up and kinda freeze, any tips to get out of this weird loop or is it the case if hit as many balls until its second nature ?

The hips are fantastic followers but not great leaders , unless your shakira . I would advise hitting more balls at half your pace or less and get a feel for your hands/ wrists through impact letting the body find its natural way to deliver them . I strongly believe all faults are made and cured in the takeaway so pay attention to that line or those possible routes but always make your main focus connecting with the ball - which comes with comfortable and assured hands .

In my opinion 80% of raw carry distance comes from physical ability. A good technique might add 20%. Perhaps a video on your gym work and how you gained power.

  • @Vnam72

@@SMG95x Those are my estimations based on 12 months of study, which I should have said. However, the premise is very clear and obvious when you look at average carry distances for men and women. The basic physical cability will determine the vast majority of raw distance. A good technique will help a lot, but if your basic capability is to carry e.g. 200 yards, then a great technique is not going to make that 300. Original post updated to show this.

@@bigjohny8446 Absolutely not. JD has a lot of mass that can be transferred into the ball. He's probably quite strong. And he's been playing since a youngster so the specific muscles he needs to swing the club fast have developed over the years.

It’s an ok video, but I feel it’s best if you take an example of a bad/ real swing that doesn’t have the desired result and show what is wrong with it, what you should be aiming to do to fix it, and the result of the fix, rather than “this is what you should do, so try and replicate it”. No slight on you Pete, you’re probably my favorite social media golfer (swing wise, journey and personality) but these vague “fix it” videos feel a little mundane .
