When I was a young boy in the early 50s, this song was played frequently in our house. I loved it then and still do.

Do you ever wonder why her songs are so sad? In Tennessee Waltz, she lost her boyfriend to an old friend she introduced. In Changing Partners, she has the fear of losing her partner and wants to hold him forever. And this song, I Went To Your Wedding is another very sad one; she attends the wedding of the man she had dreams of marrying so she could say goodbye to her own happiness as she sees them walking down the aisle happily married. 😢😢😢

This is the sequel to "Tennessee Waltz." If he leaves you for your friend and marries her, throw your oldest shoes at him, telling him exactly what he did to you and go no contact. Do not go to his wedding! Why torture yourself? Realize he will probably be unfaithful to her as well.

My girlfriend cried at my wedding....I had met, and married the guy she had told me she hoped to marry! He had broken up with her shortly before I met him....from the first day I met him we have been together...my love for 56 years! I am glad I didn’t stop dating him for anyone! Love him still...my best friend! ❤️

The kind of music that we need now instead of the stuff we hear now, with just a bunch of yelling and lyrics that glorify sex and violence.

This is one of the songs that I learnt by heart when I was about 15 years old. And now this is the one that brings me back to those innocent days of my boyhood when I was just trying to learn English and to sing the songs in English without knowing the strong emotion that they could arouse in me 60 years later. A yearning for what can never be taken back. And, I am amazed. The only word I had had wrong for all those years was "through". I was singing "true," instead!

I am a native of Cagayan, Philippines and happily married to Max Tumbali who just like me savores great hits of the past.I owe to him my addiction to old songs for it was thru him that I got to appreciate them. Now we both feel young and energized because of our undying fondness for the oldies but goodies. True enough , old hits give us a sense if not a taste of immortality such that the feeling of or the idea of death does not anymore linger on our minds. I hail the power of old songs. May its power be in all of us.

What an awesome story you have, and thank you for sharing that. Interestingly, this song was on the top 30 charts the year I was born, so I've been going through each of them. I think this may be my favorite. My memory goes back to when I was less than a year old. I had an ear for music, and wanted to see what my parents were listening to when I was born. You are so right...old songs have power...the power of love, and thank you for your wish---it is definitely in me! I love that this music is having a revival with young people again...it is the real deal. It is the closest thing we could have to time travel! God Bless!

I am past the age of adolescense yet I feel very rejuvenated every time I get to hear the songs immortalized by the great female hit makers such as Patti Page, Connie Francis,Anita Bryant,etc..Their songs never get stale for their sweetness and meaningfulness always perk up the human heart. Today, however, our ears are bombarded with a cornucopia of songs most of which deliver a headache instead of euphoria. The songs that dominate the horizon reflect a convoluted sense of morality most of us seem to have or our insouciance towards personal equanimity. I dare say the type of music that one wants to listen to tells of what kind of a person he or she is. My heart pains when I am laughed at or ridiculed owing to the very old songs that I opt to hear. I pity the present generation for its deliberate aversion to the songs of the past. It should not be forgotten that old songs paved the path or the ground on which the current types of music grow and develop.Ergo, old songs set the foundation.

Our memories are sad and beautiful. ........ By misunderstanding my friend's girlfriend left him and on a day she mailed invitation card to him for her wedding. ...... He saw her wedding dress and her eyes drops down...... blessed her happiness and when he turn around and coming down stairs step by step he feel the time was so long......... All day drunk and back to his navy ship then bitten by sergeant? all night because he didn't answer why ........ Somehow he was great artist and heard got president 's honored soldier award later. ............ I wanna listen Brothers Four singing " greenfield " .........

I went to your wedding Although I was dreading The thought of losing you The organ was playing My poor heart kept saying "My dreams, my dreams are through" *You came down the aisle, wearing a smile A vision of loveliness I uttered a sigh and then whispered goodbye Goodbye to my happiness **( Oh! )Your mother was crying Your father was crying And I was crying too The teardrops were falling Because we were losing you(*)(**)
