I think the crux of Morbius' success was Jared Leto's acting prowess. He stayed in character even off camera and really got into the Morbius mindspace by slaughtering the film crew, and it paid off in a big way.

Back in high-school I worked at a movie theater and the only theater hopping we cared about is if kids were trying to get in R rated movies. That or if you saw your movie and tried to stay long to see a second film.

This is the real plot I saw it and the theater was empty and I had a friend there so it was fine because we made fun of the movie the entire time but if I had to sit quietly alone watching this horrid plot I think I’d have my own Jared Leto arc Also he was being very nice about the dance scene it was so disturbing and so difficult to get through

I would guess it's proposing nominating Morbius for all the Oscars and it winning them all. A sweep is usually when one film wins a number of those, or any of the ones they're nominated for, I think. A rare event, but not unprecedented.

You know, I'm watching this 11 Months after the video came out, and the echoes of Morbius can still be felt. What a time that was too. One day, I just found the entirety of Morbius on my phone, after accidentally clicking on a sketchy link. I think the fact that I managed to accidentally pirate it and still didn't watch it really tells you all you need to know about Morbius.

Psh, this is NOTHING! As a former projectionist I had to build one and screen two prints of "Transformers 2", early in the morning, for the next day's release. Went home-burnt out on that movie, woke up later in the afternoon and called my friends to see what they were up to. They invited me out to see..."Transformers 2" with them. I watched "Transformers 2" THREE times within a 24-hour period. That is real pain my friend! 🤣

I’m glad you had an opportunity to appreciate how written the script was, how acted the characters were, and how animated the CGI was. Truly, morbius is one of the movies of all time.

it's so perfect. i keep telling friends that there's no 'compliation' or scene that can show how bad this movie is. it's bad like the star wars christmas special is bad. it's too long, and drains your soul the whole time

Someone 100% ready to shut his brain down completly could get a little bit of entertainement out of it. Our standards are just way higher now. But don't get me wrong it was a baaaad movie. Eddy is the only person who really suffers for the art anymore. Edit: I watched the movie in a bored slump and Morbius's experiment is even dumber than it seems. He specifically mentions the gene that gives vampire bat saliva anticoagulant properties. Not sonar navigation or fangs or anything. His spit should just make you bleed more. I know it's a superhero movie but that's dumb even in a world with radioactive spiders and gamma-radiation rage giants.

@@briansteele5804 My cousin worked at a theater and he basically verified this when we were talking a year back or so. The staff aren't nearly as ignorant to what patrons are doing as they would have you believe. BUT they don't care as long as they're making money off you. They have no loyalty to a particular publishing house or director, as long as you bought tickets or paid for some overpriced food you can basically go wherever the fuck you want as long as you don't literally camp out the whole day.

I’m here for the vampire bat defense! They also have “friends” and will feed their friend if they didn’t get a meal that night (they’ll starve pretty quickly - I might be wrong on this, but I think they can die if they don’t eat one night) so if their friend gets food their friend will feed them to keep them alive. It’s pretty adorable ☺️

Yup. Their small size is adaptive to feeding on the backs of large animals like typical livestock. Their size, in addition to a few other adaptations like anti-coagulant secretions, helps them go unnoticed. They can feed for several hours, repeatedly coming back to the same spot before they're noticed.

Eddy you missed the best line in the movie when Morbius is making the Milo poison he tells the doctor lady it's "Fatal to bats... Deadly to humans". That just summarises the movie perfectly

Watching this a year later, and I remember these times fondly

I wanted to express my surprise that _Morbius_ was in such a distinguished section of the cinema, but then I realized its proximity to the double EXIT doors and it all made sense.

The idea of buying tickets for Everywhere instead is brilliant. Truly an act of chaotic good.
