In the original story she wasn't kidnapped, she was sold to the witch and her hair was not magic, just super long. But her tears did have healing powers.

Could you maybe react to Zootopia? It's a really underrated and really good on, where the characters are also very good written. It's not really musical like the other Disney movies so I think that's pretty interesting. It's just really good and needs more recognition haha

I remember noticing it immediately the first time I watched it. I think I was 16 or 17. I didn't know the term "gaslighting" then, but looking back I can clearly see why I picked up on it. And yes, Flynn and Raps are so great. Every VA was awesome.

Rapunzel figuring out who she is via the paintings in her room isn't exactly meant to convey it's being done by magic. It's meant to represent her sub-conscious. Sort of like how the brain can repress traumatic memories from existence, and those memories are awoken by a smell or sound, and it freaks the person out because til then they didn't have a conscious memory of it. The same is sometimes said of memories made upon being very very young, and having them fade over time, but seeing a visual stimulus can sometimes make them come to the surface more. With this movie, you *do* have to suspend a tiiiiiiny bit of belief in the fact that she was only a few moths old upon seeing the sun-star above her crib, but the fact that it kept cropping up in her paintings was something she wasn't aware of until the visual of the tiara on her head unlocked it. It wasn't magic - she'd been painting a reminder memory all along 😃

This is a tiny detail, but it's actually a genius move when Flynn spoke while he was stealing the tiara, because the rush of escaping the guards sort of helped him taking the bag from the twins.

@@silent935 to be fair, that wasn't written yet. (Series spoilers) Also things/ people change, as do their priorities. When she was a shut-in with nothing but time on her hands, sure she could keep her promises. Then she became a princess and suddenly had all these responsibilities that she never needed to manage before, and suddenly keeping promises is a lot harder.

Tangled the Series was surprisingly good too. More fun with Eugene and Raps but it dives into the magical lore behind the sun drop way more and just adds a lot of world building with some amazing songs

"Your mom taught you some vocals!" THAT'S MANDY MOORE'S VOICE! SHE'S AMAZING! Her voice fits so well a Disney princess

Tangled is one of my fave films and series for a reason. I love how realistic Gothel is as a narcissistic mother, with her backhanded compliments, insults, and gaslighting then love bombing in hopes that Rapunzel forgives her. She also has an emphasis on looks and doesn’t care about personality or soul. Reminds me of my mother. It’s definitely one of my comfort movies and I love cosplaying Rapunzel.

The first time I saw the movie, the gaslighting defenitily worked on me. I felt bad for her and I thoughf she's just misunderstood. I thought it's really sweet when she says I love you more, I love you most. Now I know better. Such a good movie indeed.

A thing that I still love so much about this movie is how Gothel kisses Rapunzel's hair, she shows love to her hair. But Eugene always takes the hair out to see her.

"You let them see your face your IdIoT" The touch in these reactions is really something extraordinary

All it took was the smallest glimpse of the King and Queen crying for me to be full on sobbing.

Flynn is an iconic legendary character

The lanterns are all literally just paper, wood sticks, and wax. It's all biodegradable and even then, they probably have a clean up crew

Yeah, they'd have to have a clean up considering how the kingdom (at least the capital of it) is situated on an island and/or peninsula, as it would be a major port.

I was nine when it came out and I instantly loved it. I remember sitting in the bathtub trying to recreate the scene where Rapunzel’s hair is floating towards the loose rocks, with the draining water. I’d even sing the song. I also remember making up a Rapunzel game I could play by myself on the playground

I SEVERELY recommend watching the Tangled TV series! It's three seasons, and while some sections can lag a little bit it's overall so great. Rapunzel and Eugene's relationship in it is *chef's kiss*

I love this movie!! Btw in the original story by the Grimm brothers, Rapunzels hair wasn’t magical, it just was never cut so it grew really long. Rapunzel also wasn’t princess, but in the end she did marry a prince who found her locked in the tower. In the story it was also a witch who put her there, similarly to the movie.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but in the original story, I think her tears did save the prince in a way becuz he became blind after being pushed out of the tower and she healed his eyes. I like that the movie had creative spins on what actually happened in the original Grimm brothers story :)

11:14 that's an EXCELLENT point, actually. i think that interaction plays a big part in setting up the hair-cutting scene! it's the only other time she promises something (that i remember), and it's the most high-stakes moment in the whole movie. i've heard people say she could've saved eugene and then cut her hair off herself, but she promises gothel she'll go with her and she'll never run if she lets her heal him aaaand we (and eugene!!!!) already know she doesn't break promises. i think it makes the gesture of eugene sacrificing himself even More Huge and Important, because she fully intended on keeping that promise. him cutting off her hair was the only way rapunzel would be freed from gothel.

My grandma is about 70 and her favourite movie is Tangled, she can't stop repeating it. She's so adorable and so in love with Disney and Pixar

Honestly, the thing that pushed tangled into being my favorite is not only the incredible writing, but the incredible voice acting!! I was already a huge Zach Levi fan so I’m biased (everyone needs to see Chuck), but Mandy Moore and Donna Murphy just KILLED it.

Tangled, in my opinion, is one of THE best Disney films yet. Emperor's New Groove is also quite good, as is The Princess and the Frog. If you watch Frozen, I recommend the second one (it's better than the first, tbh).

One of my favourite Disney movies, along with Moana. The characters were so likable, the songs were bops, and the story was simple but amazing at the same time.

At 11:17, you make a REALLY great point that actually helps understand key themes in Tangled: The Series! Rapunzel makes promises in the series that she can't keep and it has huge consequences for the storyline, and what you just said just makes the whole theme go so much deeper! You're right, she wouldn't have made any serious promises before. The only person she would have made a promise to would be Mother Gothel, and at this point it would have been easy promises to keep because she had no other options. Probably things like "I promise I'll do my chores" or other easy promises that she could keep, therefore making it so she never, ever breaks a promise. But then in the series, she's given harder choices and makes promises that she discovers are harder to keep than she thought. Sorry for the tangent, I just got really excited, I didn't think about that before! I highly recommend Tangled Before Ever After and Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures! It's kind of like a sequel series for Tangled, set after the movie and before the Ever After short, and IT'S SO GOOD. Like, this animated sequel series has NO RIGHT being as good as it is. I think you'll like it!

Tangled is one of the best Disney movies

It’s definitely my favorite “newer” Disney movie. It’s a little hard to decide if it surpasses some classics, but it might. Easily my favorite Disney couple from any era.

The scene on the boat is actually my favorite scene in animation I’ve ever watched. Like the lanterns look so pretty even though it’s a cartoon

Let’s be real, Flynn chopping off Rapunzel’s hair is the biggest Disney plot twist ever. No one saw that coming!

Aaaah, love that you reacted to this, Tangled is under-rated IMO. THANK YOU! Also, fun fact: Danna Paola (aka Lu, our Elite queen) voiced Rapunzel in the Latin American Spanish version of the movie. A small detail is worth to mention about this movie-besides Gothel's narcissistic personality and the toxic environment that Rapunzel was raised to for 18 YEARS is that Gothel doesn't stay much days away from Rapunzel and vice versa is because is impossible to Gothel use the magic hair of her daughter to mantain her beloved youth. So, every time that Gothel come back to the tower her age spots had appeared already and her her grey hair also, then Gothel's travels to the "outside world" lasted three days at maximum. When Rapunzel ran away with Flynn/Eugene to see the floating lights and then Gothel finds her, Gothel felt obviosly betrayed but also she never looked that old before

I love watching first time reaction to Tangled because it felt like I am watching it for the first time again! Eugene is a boyfriend people should aim to be

In answer to the question of why Flynn doesn't just let her heal him and then try to escape, remember that in the beginning Rapunzel tells Flynn when she makes a promise she never ever breaks that promise. That establishes promises as something sacred to her and an essential part of her character. So when she promises Gothel that she will go with her forever if she heals Flynn, that makes it impossible for Flynn to come back later and save her. There is nothing he could have done to save her without making her violate her promise, which would, in a sense, have made her die. The only option open to him was to prevent his own healing. And the only way he could do that at the time was to cut her hair.

I've been watching KZreadrs who react to movies for a *while* now, enough so that I know pretty quickly if a new reactor I'm checking out is the kind of person I'd *enjoy* watching react to movies. I've never seen one of your videos before now, but let me tell you, I KNEW from that first snippet of hilarious reaction 6 SECONDS IN that I would love you and your channel. Your whole reaction after that was HILARIOUS!! I've watched probably a dozen people react to this movie (because it's my favorite Disney animated movie) and yours was legit my favorite. I also loved that I know you were a gamer right from the start, before you even said it, because you said Gothel had made a command prompt for the flower and that her knocking over the basket was a Ctrl+Z move LMAO

Really interesting little detail... I'm pretty sure that Flynn talked to the guard because he wanted to be chased, because he was sure that he could get away while getting his companions apprehended.
