You hold the top two buttons to turn on the controllers when they're not connected and you can swap the start and select buttons to the top buttons in legion space .

Please be more clear in future top 2 buttons can be misconstrued. When I first read top two buttons I thought you meant the lb+lt & rb+rt You meant legion l and legion r I had to heavily search Google for an answer because it wasn't bringing up the desired results easily. I thank you for trying to help but clear instructions like the actual name of the buttons helps more and can easily be checked in legion space controller settings edit/view button mapping

Got my LeGo two weeks ago from BB for my Vegas trip (Tip: Don’t believe it will deliver next day when it said it would. BB ended up sending me via UPS Ground from LA to NYC, which was ridiculous. I picked up my 2nd order from my local BB before my flight, and returned the late arrival after I returned from Vegas) Played Horizon 5 and Street Fighter 6 on the plane and successfully fast forwarded my plane trips.

Had my Go a week now and really loving it, im coming from the Steam deck lcd and haven't touched it since. The future is exciting for the pc handheld market.

Currently have the lcd sd and thinking of grabbing the go. I’ve seen some videos where you can run steam os on it.

I started the process of returning my legion go a day after arrival. But in the next few days until the date of collection I feel in love. And a day before they should pick up the handheld I cancelled my return. You need time to discover it and after you will love it.

It's like regular gaming laptop: when you get it, it takes some time to arrange and tune it, and you hate it when you doing it) but after tinkering is done - you just love it)

The Go is the only handled I've used that doesn't hurt my hands after a short gaming session. I don't notice it digging into my palms like a lot of people complain about. This obviously happens for some people, but know that YMMV, and it may just end up being the most comfortable handheld you've ever used

Hello, some tips: 1) For audio: fxsound - gaming mode 2) Virtual memory: disk C - 10 Gb, disk D - 32 Gb 3) Disable CPU turbo boost 4) When using Performance mode, Lenovo works for 90-100 minutes. For heavy games, 20w is enough. 5) Screen resolution in games: If the game runs in 2K resolution as rdr 2 (texture ultra, fsr balance, 20w (Performance mode), fps 36 limit (144 hz screen)) - enjoy. If the game does not work stably at 2k at 36 fps, then the game resolution is 1200p and the screen resolution is 1600p + lossless scaling program with the ls1 algorithm (the game must be in a window) - enjoy

Hey, it'll be perfectly fine. It's more than fast enough (especially for something like COrel Videostudio, which works fine on a quad core Surface Pro 8, for example).

The menu buttons can be changed to start and select and vice versa in the Legion Space settings. I think it was added back in February and I have had it that way from the day I got my Legion Go. Also when it comes to sound I would recommend trying FXSound. Before I installed that I would agree that the sound really sucked. After installing it I gotta say that I prefer the Legion Go over something like my Switch even though the switch has front-firing speakers.

Need one! Got a bit of free time at my new job and want something to do. My budget agrees more with the rog ally but i really like the detachable gamepad and the fact that i could run a seperate controller and have that nice 8 inch display

I had a lot of misgivings about getting a legion go but I kind of love it. I don't mind using it plugged it as it's still more portable than most laptops and having a type C charger around or a portable charging brick most places I use it actually isn't an issue. I like popping it out in a breakroom with a pair of bluetooth headphones. It's not for me to sit in the park unplugged for hours on end. It's not a switch and I don't use it like one. Legion space is ignorable, but I like how it just puts any computer game in my hand no matter where I am. Including a lunch break at the local cafe.

@baldlyrudy would you recommend rog ally over the go ?? I like the go but ergo and weight were a big problem for me when i tested it but the rog on ally is a big problem too what would you recommend?? (I have the SD Lcd is the ally battery worst than lcd ? And the battery of the Go is the better than lcd ) thank you

The ally requires a power bank or plug in if you are always on the go. Windows handheld has bad battery including go.

I think there is a setting in the software to switch the start and select button. I think that was one of the first updates that were done.

Micro Center is where you wanna go to get one of these guys. Back when they had just released, I bought an open box one that had been bought and returned within a week and was able to get a 512gb model for like $600. All the open Box ones have literally nothing wrong with them so might as well get them cheaper. The only thing you're missing out on is the Xbox Game Pass trial that comes with the legion go.

You have to push and hold the pause and select the button equivalents on these controllers to turn them on when they are off the main body

tbh i found the resolution kinda perfect as it basically 2x integer scale the 800p ..... so the upscaling from 800p looks way better than upscaling 720p to 1080p on Ally or WinMini/Win4

Guys I don’t have any handheld devices so I don’t know what to choose and I’m planning to buy one what I worry about if there a big difference between of the processor of steam deck oled and legion game what I worry about is the battery life I want at least 3-4 hours gameplay with out worry about the battery life and Most of my game are indie game on steam and crymachina , Spiderman miles morales and granblue relink so I worry if steam deck can run this games without problems I’m mostly worry about last 3 games that I talk about if the device can run the games without any problems if it’s can I think about steam deck oled for the battery so can u guys help me make up my mind please?

How's the WiFi in this device? What chip is it using? QUalcomm garbage in my oled would drop my connection constantly.

So if you were new to the handheld market, would you consider the Legion Go as your entry point? I’m leaning heavily towards it with the expectation it will receive some great updates in the future, but I’m also very tempted by the SDOled’s battery life. If the ROG Ally had a trackpad then I probably would have just gone with that.

TL;Dr SD OLED for battery life and seamless OS. Legion Go for higher specs and Windows compatibility. 100% depends on what you're looking for and the games you play. The SD OLED battery life is insane. But, I'd also like to mention that the flexibility of Windows is really, really nice. There are three things that I personally don't like about the Legion Go. The weight, the ergonomics, and the battery when playing at max performance. The TDP can be tweaked to the games that you're playing to extend battery life, but overall I like to play at max settings whenever possible. With the aging Steam Deck chipset, you feel the performance dip on newer titles. That being said, Valve always said 30fps was their target. Undoubtedly, you'll get better performance on the Legion Go. Windows is janky as all heck, but I do want to say that it's nice to not have to worry about compatibility. SteamOS is the closest console-like experience in a PC handheld I've seen to date. I hope that helps. 😅

I’m quite lucky in the sense that my wife works for a retailer that sells the handheld, so I would get it at a discounted price that matches the cost of a 1TB Steam Deck OLED, so I feel it would be a missed opportunity at that price. I have high hopes that Microsoft will eventually design an OS specifically for handheld gaming too, so fingers crossed it will be worthwhile in the long run 🤞Battery life will be a bit of a bummer, but I guess that’s what power banks are for 😅

Trackpad is overhyped legion go users rarely even use the track pads instead they disable it, a waste of space. Just bind the two joysticks as mouse arrow with shoulder buttons as left and right click.

With mine, if I am playing emulator games, at quiet, with half brightness I get like 4 hours. When I'm playing Xbox Cloud gaming, I get more like 5 hours. Using KZread I get about 5 hours as well. Playing Halo Infinite at low and 800p half brightness on 12 TDP, I get about 2.75 hours.

I just watched a video where some guy is selling 3d printed comfort grips that snap on to the legion go at the sides. That might fix your ergonomics issue, though they are sold out now lol. They are specifically custom made for the legion go. The guy commented it really changed how comfortable it felt using them and changed how he viewed legion go. There was also additional 3d printed things they did for it, such as thicker grips for FPS mode controllers that turn them more into a joystick than the flimsy design they are while still having access to the buttons. Also one that allows you to use the controllers as an actual console controller by connecting them both to each other with a middle base via 3d printing. All are fairly cheap at around $20 each. They look fantastic actually and probably a must have if I'm considering getting it. I'm really torn on deciding between steam deck oled vs legion go. So I'm just browsing all videos trying to make a decision. I've never held a handheld console before. I understand the differences - Ease of use and console for steam oled, vs the sheer power that legion go offers, but not as portable and finicky with windows. So I'm not really sure which one I would appreciate more between the two. I'm stuck in limbo because I don't really know which i'd regret least, or prefer more.

Using the software that's on the Legion Go, no. They have to fall into the 16 by 10 aspect ratio. Just like the Steam Deck is technically an 800p screen.

@@baldlyrudyyeah, I figured it out after some tinkering, it did help get a few more FPS on AAA games locking it to 1080p and then running the game in 1080p. It’s also the only way to get 1080p to show up in the in game settings for most games I noticed.

for me there two different handhelds there the one u play in the car and on a plane and ones you take with u on the trip and use in the hotel room. For me my switch is what I use on the plane and the legion go and steam deck is what I use in the hotel room(I used to have the steam deck but I sold it)

I’m a battery saver guy so I don’t mind playing at reasonable settings to save battery life quite the opposite from you. Just want to give some info. Currently playing lies of P on this thing with 800p low settings quality fsr. 1.10w - 36/40fps - 3hrs 2.12w - 60FPS - 2hrs30minutes Imo the sweetspot for most games are 10w-12w. This works on AAA games that are fairly optimised. Cyrberpunk, god of war, lies of P, forza horizon 5, GTA V, assassin creed games, etc. AAA games that are not quite optimised yet do require atleast 15W-18w for 30fps. Starfield, avatar, new horizon game. Wattage to battery estimation(800p/60hz/wifi off/bluetooth off/light off/low settings) 1. 7w to 8w - 4hrs30mins/4hrs(good for emulation until ps2 for most games 2.9 to 10 w - 3hrs30mins/3hrs(perfect for new light pc games and possible for older AAA game such as hellblade, gta v and also possible for some newer AAA 30-40fps ex-lies of P. 3.11w-12w - 2hrs45mins/2hrs30mins(good for 60FPS optimised triple A games/older AAA games. 4.15w-18w - 2hrs10mins/1hr50mins(good for 30-40fps for newest Not very optimised game such as helldivers 2, avatar, starfield) Of course these are not 100% accurate. These are just based on my experience and rough calculations.

With the display and frames etc, I see loads talk about ally and it’s setting that makes it much better. What’s your thoughts? Sorry can’t think of the 3 letters they use for the ally.

The ROG Ally is awesome! But the Legion Go is better when comparing specs. In the real world though, I prefer the Ally. The display is one of the best out there. Frames are decent. And it's more comfortable to hold. I just wish it had the track pad the Legion Go had.

100% depends on what you are going to play. If you're going to play AAA titles or games that have any sort of anti-cheat in them, then I'd recommend the Legion Go over the Steam Deck. With the Legion Go, you also get the flexibility of Windows OS. The Steak Deck OLED has the better battery life and more console-like experience, but has a weaker chipset.

If you care that your blacks are black not hazy light gray and an image with great pop with high contrast then stay away from any IPS based handheld

Love the LGo. It has replaced my desktop. I use an egpu with and am very happy. I'm not s fan of the controllers though. I'm glad they opened up button configuration, they gyro isn't great. And the trackpad is sub-par. I use the steam deck as a glorified controller

Because at the full resolution, refresh rate, and wattage consumption, the battery dies of the Legion Go dies faster. This is the peak performance for the handheld. And at the peak performance of the ROG Ally, the battery lasts longer, though not by much. When the settings are different, then the battery performance is of course different. That's why I wanted to show the example with Hollow Knight. Handheld PCs on average have really bad battery life. I don't think the average consumer wouldn't look at a lot of these settings and might not look at tweaking settings to optimize the battery. PC enthusiasts would, but not outside of it.

The battery is less due to several factors. Larger screen and more pixels to light. Higher resolution also draws more power from the battery. Next, the ram is a faster speed, once again, that needs more power. So think of these as cars. Sport cars burn more gas than a prius, they can go faster, and they accelerate faster. It all comes down to performance. Hope that helps, explained in non-technical terms.

If Lenovo decides to launch something this beefy with a big battery, then I want to use it as such. I don't want to hinder my potential experience.

The only games you can play in 1600p would be the hollow knight lol and your won't notice a difference matching the 1080p of the ally

I have the Steam Deck OLED and Legion Go and I do play my OLED more since the overall experience is better and more efficient than the Go. The Go does have a large and pretty screen and can play games that the OLED has trouble with, but both are awesome to have since they balance each other out.

The freedom deck OLED ( non 1tb version) screen is just so so so much better looking with true blacks and contrast that shames the mediocre IPS contrast.. That alone is a deal breaker for the legion

@@CJTheTokay yeah. I get that. The fan noise is only an issue at full load with default profiles.

I got all three! I have the Oled steam deck, Asus ROG Ally and the Legion go. I might be biased because I had to RMA my Asus rog ally 2 times!!! First was the sd card reader then the left and right triggers warrant registering 100% and then the second time was sd cards reader (again) and the joy sticks. I love my steam deck but been having loads of fun with my Legion go the screen is awesome!!! The battey life is the same as the ROG Ally. They both burn through really quick. The joysticks on the ROG Ally are really loose for me... like there's no resistance. But anywho the legion go rocks! 🤟

Those hall sensing joysticks on the Legion Go are solid! Also, I do have to say that the ROG Ally has had issues with RMA stuff. Thankfully users have an extended warranty now. I also have all three. And the MSI Claw, for what it's worth. 😅

And do you think the LCD one still worth it? Or should I go for the OLED? (I had switch OLED before (but nintendo games isn't really for me so I sold it) so I afraid I got disappointed with the screen if I got SD LCD)

If you hold the legion button & quick menu button the controllers will power on..

i have a feeling battery life is a little more subjective to these things, my legions battery is better then my allys, not like an hour longer or anything, steam deck oled is still dominate there, but a good half hour at least.

Steam Deck OLED is by far the best experience when it comes to battery life.

I personally have the device always on charger cuz it comes with a very long charging cable

Bro, you are not up to date with software improvements with the Go.. You CAN remap the legion and quick menu buttons to the start/select buttons….

I love my legion go. Pretty much everything i play runs on balance mode, so i get about 2 hours of battery, 4 when i play emulators(16bit or older) or indy games on quiet mode. Not going to lie, the ergonomics are a bit rough. I just got some 3d printed snap on comfort grips that round out those edges without too much added bulk, and there's always tabletop/docked mode with a controller. And the icing on the cake, i use it as a tablet regularly, so I'm getting a lot of value out of it.

I love everything about the Legion Go. I see many videos of people hating on it or really focusing on, to me, very minor things that yeah can be annoying, but not worth saying it’s not a good handheld. I am always on it and has taken over as my go to gaming device. Absolutely amazing experience!

legion is just too big and heavy for me causing discomfort, loud fan noise. onexplayer pro is alot better from performance to comfort, with no fan noise at all

I have one coming in the post, It's BNPL so paying for it bit by bit, hopefully it will pay off in a year after I have payed it off (should only take a fe wmonths) and be worth it, by that time The Legion Go 2 will have been released and will have spex 100 times better than what we The Legion Go has.

Agreed! I hope that the design is a tad more ergonomic around the edges of the controllers. Those hard angles are uncomfortable for me. 🫠

I would’ve considered a legion go if the price was astronomical. The Ally Extreme on sale was the best bang for my buck personally. I do think this is a cool machine though.

OMG yes. The recent sales on the Ally have been insane when it comes to what it can do. It does make me think ASUS will be releasing their Ally 2 sometime in the near future though.

If the steam deck screen was 144hz, I'd get the steam deck due to it's dual trackpads that are conviently located. I plan to use it half the time for web browsing and I can type with two trackpads vs one awkward pad on the legion go. But I value fps a lot, I have a 240hz desktop screen that I want to replace with 540hz eventually lol. Might just wait for a steamdeck 2 haha

Screen size, resolution, refresh rate, RAM clock speed. The difference is there. That's why I mentioned decreasing resolution, TDP, and refresh rate. If the Legion Go had a 1080 screen at 120hz, but retained the same specs, it would be much better than the ROG Ally when talking about battery life.

800p with integer scaling id the way to go. Looks way better and more crisp than steam deck and ally at 800p. 1600p is ONLY for indie games. Idk why we talk about the battery, honestly this is a handheld that should be on your coffee table or night stand plugged in 24/7. This is not something meant to take out and about.

I disagree. When set up optimally, I get multiple hours of gameplay out of it. Additionally, when using it for lets say, a laptop replacement for KZread or Netflix, or other types of media, it last about 5 hours on battery. It beats my laptop at runtime, but when you do throw a AAA game at it, it will suck the juice from the battery very quickly. But, again, if you optimize it correctly, you can get a reasonably long play session. For example, I play Battlefield 2042 at certain settings and it looks great, and I end up with about 2.2 hours of gameplay. Thats pretty good for a next-gen power hungry game. As long as everyone works through the hours of figuring out the best settings for each game, it's worth it, and it does in fact become a very viable portable gaming solution.

I have the Legion Go since launch and I never looked back. This was a no brainer for me, coming from the Steam Deck LCD that I still have a Love.

I still cant understand this devices, it cant play as a pc. U need wifi connection. Why not buy a y700 tablet that runs better cooling and emulators with zero need of wifi but if u want to run a higher game play cloud games like xbox clouding.

Games can run natively on the handheld itself, so you don't need to be connected to the internet. But you have the option to emulate, stream games from the cloud, and more.

@@baldlyrudy I have small hands so I actually find the Ally the most comfortable handheld out of the Steam Deck, Ally, and Go. I'm thinking about giving the go a second chance but the software and size of the controllers are just not for me

FPS mode is a game changer. I'm SO terrible at aiming. I just used it to beat the "defend the hull" section of Dead Space. Absolutely love it. I have man hands, so size and weight don't matter. I actually wish it was bigger.

That's the thing. At max settings, I'm getting worse battery life on the Legion Go than my ROG Ally. But at a comparable resolution and wattage, the Legion Go definitely outlasts the Ally. It has the bigger battery.

To me the legion go works good with fps games. Open world games it struggles bad. Other than that if you adjust the settings it can run almost everything

Agreed! Most of the PC handhelds take a lot of tinkering to set up. But it's worth it when it's done.

That resolution makes a difference.

It's nice, I love the size. Got to play with it for a week, but unfortunately for me, Steam Deck still reigns Supreme. I keept finding gravitate towards my deck because I didn't like the jiggle of the joycons.

Honestly I don't get the reason for a QHD 144hz 9" screen. I'd bet 100 bucks none of the screen snobs out there would really notice if you change the resolution of a game like RDR2 from QHD to FHD without telling them. It's 9". And also... do you REALLY need 144hz? You're definitely not playing competitive PC gaming on a handheld so let's be very real and say that 60fps is more than enough. I'd trade this for a 1080p screen any day. It would make it cheaper and probably with better battery life.

1 hours and a half of gaming is really bad, it’ll be good when it can last 4 or 5 hours

These windows handhelds are the equivalent of game devs shipping out unfinished games. These devices are annoying af to use. I’m out on all of them until the user experience is positive. Im 32 years old. I don’t have the time or patience to wrestle with these shit devices with shit operating systems.

I have to lay out an extremely controversial opinion: Asus, Lenovo, Ayaneo and Onexplayer should do subscriptions. Here's why: PS, XBox and Steam make revenue from game sales (and subscriptions on Xbox and PS). If the handheld companies were to possibly team up with Epic or Origin, or Blizzard or even Discord, bringing people into a subscription model, they could lower prices, and have more incentive to continue to support and update the handhelds that they release. As it is, there's minimal incentive to support aging handhelds once they've released a new model. They're hardware companies and the only profit is in moving forward.

Throw the controllers in the trash and replace them with steam deck design versions and it wont suck, how a mobile pc with detatchable controllers STILL does not have alternate options after a year indicates it never will.

Legion go for call of duty hands down

I do think that it is a bit over the top. I agree on the 1080 part, but I'd want 120hz for black frame insertion for emulation.

Strongly disagree. Most of what I play on the Legion Go I use the 1600p resolution either natively or through FSR/RSR. Going down to 1080p in order to be able to play the latest games in native resolution I'd say that is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. You can still use the Legion Go in 800p for games that it can't handle in full res. But there are SO many games that just work wonderfully in 1600p. I run Monster Hunter Rise natively in 1600p high settings at 60 fps, Forza Horizon 3 and 4 with most settings at medium to high 1600p at 60-80 fps. Monster Hunter Stories I run in 1080p (unfortunately that game doesn't support 16:10 resolutions) and let RSR upscale to 1440p at 60 fps. Warframe I run at 1600p medium. Since it's an online game the performance is a bit more unstable here. So around 40-60 fps when using FSR in balanced mode. Even a game like Control runs just fine in 1600p with FSR. The only drawback I see of the 1600p screen they have chosen is the fact that it doesn't come with VRR. This might also be why they have gone with a native portrait display since then the tearing runs top to bottom instead of left to right which I definitely find less noticeable. So 1600p 144Hz yes please. But please make it VRR compatible next time around.

1600p is overkill for gaming, for sure, you're never going to hit that with good frame rates. However, streaming video on 1600 is amazing.
