I'm a father of two and don't have much time to game. I work 12 hour swing shifts including weekends and nights. On slower nights I can take this and play all night long. It's been a game changer for me on night shift. I used to just watch movies on my phone. Now I have that big screen for movies and games. It's great!

Despite the lack of updated drivers, I've always had a good experience with Lenovo support. Considering the recent expose by Gamers Nexus around ASUS' crazy customer service, I'd weigh that heavily comparing the ROG and Legion Go.

Yes, Asus have certainly dropped in service levels these days, more interested in ripping the customer off. Lenovo like Valve are better then that.

@@marksapollo Not always. As an IT guy at an university where we use lots of Lenovo hardware and from personal use I can tell, Lenovo has it's own problems. Good luck getting you stuff replaced or repaired out of guarantee even though it seems to be faulty by design (lots of people with similar issues). Lenovo devices look nice but have their out-of-box issues like the keys on my wife's Yoga 2-in-1 triggering the touch screen causing random mouse movements when used closed with a dock and external mouse. Also has some random and odd other issues. The Thinkpad X1 Carbon I got at work has battery issues, odd issues where it freezes randomly for a few seconds and the keyboard is also touching the screen, causing it to get dirty from natural skin oil and I have quite dry hands. Lenovo doesn't design such devices with a big enough gap between screen and keyboard. At this point I would rather get the SD (if I wouldn't own one already) than the Legion Go, but I also don't have any experiences with Valves customer support.

The Legion Go really surprised me. I bought one on a whim, open box deal at BB. I fully intended on returning it, expecting to hate it. On paper, it looks bulky, uncomfortable, the controls seem weirdly designed, and windows on handhelds wasn't appealing to me. But somehow, it won me over and is my absolute FAVOURITE handheld out of any of the ones I have. Does it have issues? Yes, definitely. But the huge, vibrant screen, is so incredibly immersive, and the flexibility of being able to use it as a tablet, and have all the simplicity of being able to use windows actually is a huge difference to other handhelds out there. Having windows on a 7inch screen really doesn't work because of readability for me, but the Legion Go, I don't feel like I'm making any compromises. I don't recommend it at full price, but I do recommend people hunt for deals on this and try it out, it may surprise you.

Russ, your content is always on point, but I must say, you've really stepped up your game on the production value. Lighting, sound, framing... The complete package is looking tight. Keep it coming, man.
Great "re-review". I've been using the Legion GO since day1 (swapped my og steam deck for it) and i still love it so much. Daily use, so much power and freedom, can't wait for the Legion GO 2.
Really appreciate the deep dive into integer scaling. It's one of the most overlooked features on the Go, IMO. Huge performance uplift without the blurring that typically comes with dropping your resolution down.
We need a new office tour! Those arcade cabinets look sick
Crazy timing you uploaded this because I'm having similar thoughts and have been using the Legion Go and GPD Win Mini more than anything lately
I just picked one up myself (I currently have the Ayaneo 2). Thanks much for the update on the Go!
Great video 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I currently have a SD LCD from day one. Looking to grab the GO as a late birthday gift for myself. Excited to get my hands on one soon , just waiting since the Canadian price is 899 plus tax 🤦🏾♂️
Appreciate the tweaks and shoutout to an awesome community. Main thing holding me back (because I have a gaming laptop) are the battery life and audio (but I usually use bluetooth earbuds anyways). The controllers being unique (and the 3D printed accessories look nice) and the large screen are what draw me in as a Nintendo Switch user. Hoping for the next model to have OLED.
Thanks for the video Russ. I love my Legion Go.
Congrats on 500k brother. Great video as usual. ✌️
love the video and loved seeing more of the studio! your studio looks awesome!
I like how passionate your reviews are and how they address real life use cases. Most reviews i came across would just run benchmarks ans call it a day, even though they claim to be "enthusiasts"
Bro i like the way u describe and making thing so simple and make it better for us by helping with ur knowledge ,, really appreciate your work . keep it up man 👍
Very informative always. I wish you and your channel success bro.
I’ve had my Legion go since November and I’m still very happy with it, I even sent it in for some warranty work and they had it back before they said it would be back (about a week) this device seems to have great support and I will likely own it for quite some time! Only thing I haven’t quite gotten figured out on it is emulation which is mostly due to lack of much trying. Overall super happy with my purchase.
Always appreciate the Legion Go update videos. I am going to have to order those grips.
Russ is the goat - I came here for the Steam Deck Emu Deck tutorial a few months ago, but find myself watching all the other device videos, even if I’m never going to be buying them.
Oh snap, Russ is my brother lefty! ~2 years I've been following your channel, and I discovered this just now ❤
Your channel is so amazing! :)
Great content as always! Question though, would you be willing to make a tutorial on transferring config files and such between android based devices so you don't have to freshly set them up each time? Like if you have a rp3+ but bought a rp4 is there a fairly seamless way to transfer everything over to the new device? I love tinkering with them but it gets to be a bit much after setting them up over and over. I'm sure you of all people understand that. Thank you for everything you do! That "happy gaming" at the end of your videos is so genuine. You definitely have a passion for gaming and for helping people! You rock!
Holy crap Russ.... You just fixed my Lenovo x12 laptop's speakers, and I have been trying for well over two years to fix them. They were so metallic and tinny that they would peak and crackle simply at the sound of plugging a device into them. Turns out I didn't have EQ settings in realtek, but that took me down a rabbit hole I hadn't thought about, and turns out there was a dolby atmos console with some dynamic setting that was ja cking everything up. Turned it off... your voice stopped peaking the speakers. They still weren't tolerable, but no longer unusable. So I added in FXsound and turned it to light processing and holy crap it sounds like a laptop. Not a great laptop, but I can actually use the speakers to listen to a lecture now. Man lenovo can't do speakers for crap. Absolutely OUTSTANDING customer service though, I don't love my X12 as a device, but spending $250 for 5 years of next day on-site repair has paid for itself several times over, having a technician come to my house and fix the several hardware faults I've had (firmware update bricking my display driver, dropped it once and broke the magnesium chassis and one speaker)
Thanks Russ, I got the go for Starfield and others and love the screen but I find the ease of using the Steamdeck is too good and my Go sits idle. These recommendations have given me a reason to play it again. What a time to be a gamer, keep up the great work you do for us

Well said!
Ive got mine couple days ago and love it 🙋🏻♂️😁
Received a steam deck oled this week. Great device but it made me fall in love with my legion go all over again. Just can’t beat that screen. Returning my SD Oled and bought a pair of the grips you shared on Etsy. I know it’s an expensive device for this, but at 1600p 144hz I find it to be the ultimate streaming device for my desktop. I rarely play games native on it but use that screen to its fullest with max settings through moonlight.
I love my Legion Go. The screen is big and the colors are so vivid. I wouldn't change it for any windows portable device available!
Wicked , truelly the best handheld video ive seen .
Love the mwY shirt as always, hope you were able to catch a show before they retired!
I got my legion go around January, and i love it. I play it almost every day. I've purchased the same grips, and they make it way more comfortable, and as a plus it can still fit in the original case, though just barely, and I've also 3d printed the connector and the vertical screen connector for emulating DS/3DS. I'm finally getting to play sega saturn since none of my other devices emulate it acceptably to me (Retroid Pocket Flip, Samsung Galaxy S10+ with a Razer controller, modded Switch in Android dual boot, though i haven't tried the Switch Cotton rom injection. Only a few games i play require balance mode, where i get 2 hours of play time, most of my emulators and indy steam games run on power saver mode, where i get 3 - 4.5 hours of battery time. Just being able to play anything without having to set up a laptop has been a game changer, and has made it so much easier to just pick up a device when i have 5-10 minutes, or when i just want to play on the couch or in bed. 10/10 would recommend, and if you can get one open box you can get it cheaper than a steam deck OLED. Even so, with the ability to play game the deck can't, and play the games it can better, i think it's worth the extra dollars in my personal opinion.
You got the arcade cabinet, awesome !
When you have a 4 hour layover the Go’s tabletop functionality comes in clutch. I was watching movies and playing games and it felt like only 1 hour lol such a great device

I use legion Go mostly for travel trips. I fly monthly for work and it is great for this. Even TSA asked me about it on my trip last week, told the guy to check it out. Most def worth it to me.
I love me legion, my favorite part is that the kickstand still works for portrait mode where you can play all the old standup arcades ❤ i owned the deck and ally and returned both but fwll in love with the go. The only thing i would add to your video is de bloating, and you can use a tool like bloatynosy, i went from 250 precesses on the cpu to 115 with about 30% performance boost.
The new camera angle looks good 👍🏿
I pre ordered my Legion and I love it now as much as I did then. I have not did any mods it was perfect out the box for me.
MeWithoutYou shirt was very unexpected! Nice!
I absolutely love my LeGo . Even though i primarily got it for gaming, what sold me on it was the fact that you can't really find a tablet running full windows , with the specs that it has without spending $1000+ bux. Excellent portable tool for using blender and other 3d art applications. I was going to get a waccom graphics tablet but was going to pay no less than $1000 for it. The LeGo does everything i needed from the waccom for half the price.
I love the Deck's ergonomics and control placement, but my eyes can't deal with 7" screens, so the Go's been awesome. The larger display and versatility coupled with all the community-driven customizations really cement the Go as a dark horse in the handheld race. Great video filled with helpful tips. Definitely going to be picking up those grips to try. Edit: Sold out. Bummer, hope they print some more soon.
Really love my Legion Go 6 months after ❤❤❤ playing Ghost of tsushima now. Works well on our LE-GO
I feel like it's important to mention button mapping has improved a lot. Not all of the extra buttons are comfortable to use, but the 3 in the back are pretty good and I've mapped them to stuff like alt-tab and esc with no issue. You also can change the button mapping profile very easily, so I have one for watching movies/videos/whatever. The screen is big enough that you basically get a mini TV in bed. Oh, and don't sleep on that mousewheel and trackpad. They make Windows navigation so much better, and are pretty handy to organise big inventories in games too.
Hey man, great video! Speaking of revisiting hardware, could you do a video about the ROG Ally running BazziteOS? I think that would make a great video, comparing it to the original windows software, and checking if there is any improvements.
I recently purchased a Legion Go and am very happy with it. The only thing it's missing is a Lenovo manufacturer dock.
The great thing about the handheld space right now is that there is no "correct" choice in what is objectively the best one right now. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, and it's about finding what suits YOU
that 3DS attachment thingy is super neat, might have to cop myself one
That's not a typo, it's real power savin' time Gangsta ✌🔥
I got a Lenovo Y700 2023 Legion tablet on sale a while back and I use it for watching shows, playing Retroarch with an 8bitdo controller, reading comics, etc. It's the greatest tablet of its size and I haven't been this content of a device in a long, long time - best purchase ever! AMAZING battery too, truly great! Lenovo makes some good stuff man.

Thank you so much for this follow up video on the Legion Go! I picked up a 1TB Legion Go from BB in 'Fair' condition back in Dec for just over $610 after tax. I was worried that it would be scratched and damaged but it was actually in perfect condition. The BB employee I talked to told me they just marked it as 'Fair' to get it sold and I was happy to keep it at that price. I've been enjoying using it overall but I am excited to try out the recommendations you have mentioned! I also plan to grab the comfort grips and then go from there for some of the other accessories. I'd say that my biggest frustration with it is that sometimes I’ll find that it’s turned on while in it’s case so it’s hot and has wasted battery. I’m sure that’s user error but I would like it if it were easier for me to hit the power button and store it without having to worry if something is going to randomly wake it up in there. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

From what I heard looking at many reviews of these devices, that's a windows 11 issue. It was even doing that when I tried using win11 on the steam deck. From what I read online, putting it in hibernate instead of sleep works better. Supposedly that stops it from turning back on, but the downside is it takes slightly longer to resume.

@@undergradchaos Thanks for the heads-up! I'll give that a try.
I was curious about the Legion from the start but was disappointed after the initial reviews. But I recently caught something regarding Lenovo coming out with some AR glasses later this year that could make this handheld a lot of fun. Now with your positive comments I'm definitely leaning towards the Legion Go. Thanks for all the info.
I'm about to go buy one a soon as i go on break in an hour 😊
As someone that at some point travelled overseas with a PS4 fat, a portable monitor, dualshock, personal laptop, business laptop and their corresponding power bricks. The only thing I could say is that I'm amazed with my 2 handhelds! (SD OLED and LLGo), I have to say that on my recent trips I have been choosing the LLGo over the SD OLED simply because I can play any game I want. Also, with controllers dettached it is very easy to travel with, its like travelling with a chunkier ipad mini, then you can throw the controllers wherever you want (these are light but very durable so I dont really care about those at all). Also I have been using it just as a tablet to watch videos, read documents/epubs/browsing in portrait mode and it is a pleasure, I don't really feel the need of a personal laptop anymore. The only thing I could say I'm really missing is a finger print scanner to unlock the thing, similar as the ally. Other than that if they release a refresh of this same product with a few more enhancements: better ergonomics, native landscape display, more refresh rate modes and not only 60-144, more software updates, maybe even an OLED screen, Lenovo will simply blast the handheld market, only with those updates I will be sold to upgrade and not even consider to get rid of my original V1, since I still think that is an amazing product with a ton of use cases other than gaming
Good lord, just when I was ready to buy it, your video dropped! Thank you for your review, I'm definitely buying this now.
The comfort grips are sold out 😢. Great video as always!
really wouldnt go for the ally anymore, ASUS as a company is just super shady, i'd stay far away from them
Plain and simple the best videos around
I absolutely LOVE my LEGO SO MUCH! The games this runs surprises me everyday!
Yeah, ive had the Legion go since its inception, and i just adore it. It's dependable ,beautiful screen. I actually use my XReal 2 Pro glasses with it as well and a small pockect size foldable keyboard, and i am set. I also have an Anker portable charger (basically a portable power station) that i leave in my car and because the Legion go had the firmware update where the battery charges fast while playing and im getting around 6 hours of play with my hook up, its just no comparison. Ive also since, gotten rid of steam deck, asus ally AND my ps5, there is no need for them anymore after the legion go.
I bought those grips ASAP 😂 thanks for the recommendation lol

Don't regret it, their amazing it actually competes with the ergonomics of the Steam Deck now
In addition to the “power savin g” there’s also “Quite Mode” in the bios menu. Spelling isnt a dealbreaker but does show lack of attention to detail in one area that could mean issues in another. I will say the LeGo is the best all around device. Need a tablet? Joy cons? Giant kickstand? Built in track pad and optical mouse? Portrait play? All there. Not as comfortable as Steam Deck or Ally, not as polished, but I bought the thing for emulating EVERYTHING (DS and WiiU included) and that it does very well.
Thank you for this and appreciate the time into these! Is the legion able to fit into the case with the grips on?
Absolutely love my Legion go. Really can not go wrong with 1 terabyte of storage. Would love to see some new controllers.
Great video Russ.
Im glad, I've yet to set mine up and give it a try
I've got one, had it for a few months. I like it, but don't love it. I really do like the beauty of a screen, it allows me to play some games on the go that I otherwise wouldn't try. However, It's kind of a process getting it out to play, putting it in desktop mode, connecting power, doing all the things I need to do to counteract the weight, that I rarely do. I'm waiting on a GPD win mini 2024, which I think will fit my needs better.
Looking forward to the Legion Go 2 with the big Strix Point Apu upgrade.
its always been my favourite so far. huge screen & controls feel great

I find it better ti use Handheld companion for integer scalling also seemeless when using it individually with other games or softwares. You can also create a shortcut of a key combo to use the lossless scalling scale shortcut Great video by the way.
Thank you. I feel that the LLG gets pushed to the back of discussions with focus only on Valve and ASUS. They all have positives and negatives, and different folks will find each one rheir ideal. The Go is that device for me, controller size, screen size, battery, balance, etc. Don't need to knock other portable Consoles/PCs because you prefer one over the other, all are great options.

@@X862go yep most Lenovo owners are still running the December update. I just went to AMD and side loaded the 780M graphics instead. I'm on the may update now.

Is it simple enough?

@@salmanjawed98 yes very simple you just gotta follow a few steps but once you get it down. You're good to go. Run beautifully on the Lenovo. The thing I will say is every time AMD releases a new driver you will have to follow the whole process again. You can find a KZread video around here showing the process.

I ended up just wiping Windows from my Legion Go and installing Bazzite OS on the device. I haven't had nearly the same amount of software related issues with the device as I had running Windows
Top quality KZreadr 🙌
After watching this video it really got me interested in the Legion Go (as a current Steam Deck owner)... I saw an open box deal at Best Buy for $567 tax included, so I decided to pull the trigger and got it today. Hopefully no regrets even though I already have the Steam Deck! We'll see...
Review is spot on
Honestly I don’t comment a lot lately, but I have to say of all the PC handhelds I’ve used… the legion go is my favorite. It’s far from perfect but it’s the only one I haven’t sold or traded or returned. It does all the stuff I want and I love it. ❤
glad to see that Russ also has a good taste in music
Great video thanks!!
Great video Russ! 6 months without driver updates is just insane by my perspective. I feel like Valve cares much more about the Steam Deck. I continously see software improvements coming for the deck and the feeling is that the deck is going to be supported for much longer than these windows handhelds. So in the end I'm quite happy I chose the deck oled over the go.

hey updated the drivers recently. I don't know why he said six months. It did take a while but it was updated. They also confirmed multiple things they are working on.

@@MobileDecay I'm confused. In another comment a Legion Go user said he had to sideload the new drivers. You got them from Lenovo or you sideloaded as well?

@Tonno7 You were able to before they released.
