A VISA (or OCI) is not a guarantee to entry, it is a guarantee to let someone present themselves at a port of entry. P.s.: WE also need to have an opinion of the US and others refusing Modi a visa based on fake accusations.

Once you give up your citizenship, you have no rights to claim that you should be given permanent residency or free access to India. India doesn’t do dual citizenship! OCI facility wasn’t there before. People took visa to visit. Just like Indian Visa, government of India can decide if any person should be given OCI or if it should be revoked. Hence, OCI is a privilege not a right!

... it is not even an enforceable right, let alone a fundamental one... its a per discretion of the GoI. As per law, the central government can cancel the OCI registration if “the overseas citizen of India has shown disaffection towards the Constitution of India as by law established," and if “it is necessary so to do in the interest of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of India, friendly relations of India with any foreign country, or in the interests of the general public"... For this Kaul lady, the GoI is rather late... they should've cancelled her OCI card right after her 2019 testimony before the US Congress about Art 370 revocation... She has deep links with CAIR and AMA and many such jihadi organizations...and her actions and soundbites parrot the ISI narrative... Chalo, better late than never...

As an academic Ms. Kaul has the right to publish anything the way she sees it. But, she is also an activist like Audrey Truschke and has a certain worldview that may not be agreeable to lots of folks in India, especially the current establishment. She is a Kashmiri Pandit, but has not lived in Kashmir and does not know what happened there in the eighties, culminating in the mass exodus of half a million innocent people and a physical and cultural genocide of our community. And yes, in spite of the woke academic terminology she prefers, that was a physical and a cultural genocide. She hobnobbed with the Hurriyat, an avowedly anti-Hindu Islamist organization. As a Kashmiri Pandit, she crossed the Rubicon when she deposited in the gong show (aka US Congressional hearing) orchestrated by the Islamist Ilhan Omar. Ilhan brushed aside voices of people like Arti Tickoo, who lived through that horribly tragic period in Kashmir and did not allow them to speak. She will have no sympathizers in the KP community. She will have to wait for the INDI Alliance to come to power to revoke the current ban on her entry. Or may be she can wait for the transition to Yogi! She should have stuck to economics. The world is getting fed up with woke academics......

I am OCI just couple of weeks back visited Bangalore and came back to Canada, the immigration officials were just normal doing their jobs, I don't see any normal oversea citizen of India facing any sort of entry issue. This individual is shady now covering up her acts. Karma comes in full circle madam, don't cry, you know what you have done. And you think you will get 5Star hotel accomodation in detention???

These kind of people are more dangerous to the country’s sovereignty than the real criminals. These are so called intellectuals is responsible for publicising the talk against India, she would have been treated same in other countries, in fact she shouldn’t given the visa at first place itself when the invitation was from Karnataka govt, the question of deportation wouldn’t have arise. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean that they can talk against India sovereignty.

Why approach the US Congress and submit testimony for an issue that the majority of Indians believe is an internal matter? Even if she has some concerns as an individual of Indian origin, she should be addressing them with the Indian Government. Why involve foreign powers? 'Indian Administered Kashmir' is a term used by so-called progressive and unbiased media houses"BBC". Even though she is an intellectual, she is not privileged to use it. What an argument. I was actually curious to know about her and the incident that happened at Bangalore airport. However, after listening to the video, I am fully satisfied that what happened is wrong, considering the constitutional rights that every Indian enjoys. However, the views she holds about India and its position on Kashmir are completely unacceptable. If she truly cares about the views she constantly expresses on Kashmir and if facing such ordeal due to them, she should not be highlighting them to gain priority in the media.

Wonder how you sleep well at night with a clear conscience! No introspection before you go to sleep?

Nothing to do with democracy. She has no voting rights in India. If she holds an OCI Card, that means that she is not an Indian citizen anymore. Then it is up to the Indian Government if they allow her in or not as India is a sovereign country. Just like US CBP does strip search of Sharukh Khan every time he visits USA because he might be on some kind of watch list.

I fully support the action of Govt of India..Freedom of speech is part of indian democracy,but there should not be any freedom after speech once it is found anti national and goes against sovreignty of a country.Kaul is misusing the freedom of speech and deserves the current action.If she is correct then why does she speak about kashmiri pandit plight and arrogance of those who brought this.

I absolutely love it that she was denied admission in India. Her Visa and OCI status should be also withdrawn.

As a Kashmiri Pandit I need to clarify… over the centuries because of religious persecution in Kashmir several Pandit families migrated from Kashmir to other parts of India. You will find several Rainas, Razdans, Bhats, Kauls and Pandit etc surname across India who at some point in their lineage where Pandits. Suresh Raina the cricketer is one such example. Most KP’s have an identity crisis where Nitasha Kaul oversteps when she projects herself as a Kashmiri Pandit around the world who is a scholar on Kashmir and India affairs. She should project herself as a scholar who has roots in Kashmir. Her stance is her own but when she equates Kashmiri Pandit suffering with Kashmiri Muslim she walks right into Islamist narrative and does disservice to Kashmiri Pandit suffering.

I'm inclined to go with Arti Tikoo ji rather than Nitasha Kaul on all things Kashnir because Kaul is an opinionated and partisan academic and Tikoo has lived experience to speak from. We all saw how the notorious jihad apologist US Congresswoman Illhan Omar promoted Kaul and thwarted Tikoo ji in the so called Congressional Hearing on Kashmir. Well, this is not the UK or the USA, this is INDIA! And we shall NOT tolerate terms such as 'India Occupied Kashmir' that Kaul used in her coursework at her University which challenges our soverignity. Kashmir was, is, and shall remain an integral part of India, period.
