I’ll be honest I’ve never been the biggest fan of April Fool’s jokes, but you just brought a childhood joke to life. I am forever indebted to you for this experience

An easier (but more costly) way to obtain the Salac Berry would be with the Colosseum US Bonus Disc, where you can receive a Jirachi with a 50% chance to hold the Salac Berry. You only get one per save file, though, and I think it only works in Ruby and Sapphire, so you would have to finish the FRLG postgame so that you could trade it over.

@@Beast_the_smash_guy Yeah, it was a promotional event that ran alongside Pokemon Colosseum. Google "Wishmaker Jirachi" if you don't believe me. It actually also has a chance to be shiny, unlike most other distribution events at that time. I've been shiny hunting it on and off for a while now

Imagine being a dev for gen 3, looking at Jirachi, knowing ahead of time that there will be exactly 1 distribution for this thing that's anywhere near accessible and saying "50% hold item."

Honestly I was expecting the final step to be going to the Vermillion Truck and use Strength to rip the muffler off. Certainly would explain how I never got this legendary item!

I don't think that would have worked. I don't think you can get the third badge without the SS Anne leaving, and you need the third badge to get to the elite four, which is one of the steps. You are able to get to the truck without getting the third badge, but getting to the truck in your hypothetical scenario would be the last step, requiring you to already have all badges and have done the elite four steps.

I love seeing what streamers and youtubers come up with for April Fool's Day, usually so much creativity goes into it, and awesome of atsign to make this mod for you

Considering how obscurely complicated it was to get the Regis, with so many random and specific series of events you had to do, it’s no wonder these troll posts were so popular. One of the most popular ones I remember is when you get the rocket to 100% in Mossdeep, you’ll go up in space and fight deoxys and jirachi. Another one I remember seeing was if you do a bunch of random stuff that wasted your time, the daycare old man would let you behind the fence and in the grass patches there were legendary Pokémon.

I believed the space one for a long time because 1. what is the rocket even for and 2. how else are you supposed to get deoxys or jirachi (there were never events anywhere near me)

Legend says that if you bring the magic muffler to the truck, you can install it into the truck and it will start a battle with mewthree. Hope to see the followup video about this soon!

Unfortunately Pokemon HOME doesn't allow Pokemon to hold items, and Pokemon HOME is currently the only way to get old Pokemons into new Pokemon games... BUT! I heard that if you complete the cheats 7 more times, for one and only one Pokemon, you are able to deposit the Pokemon holding the Magic Muffler into Pokemon HOME.

I messed up as a kid and only got a glitched out item called the muffler. Data miners found that it was an early version of the magic muffler that acted as an infinite use rare candy. Unfortunately when I tried to use it, it crashed my game and caused it to softlock every time I reloaded my save file. I never had the courage to try this cheat again. For all of us idiot beginners out there, thank you Ant. You are the shining symbol of sucess to us all

Same. To fix it you have to buy another copy of the game, do the steps correctly in that new copy and then turn off the game AFTER SAVING. then boot up your save on the soft locked copy and on your new working copy and also boot up the save on your new copy at the exact same time. Dunno how it does it. Probs the power of the magic muffler (Edit: you also need another game boy)

My favorite thing about weird, arbitrary Pokemon rumors is whenever they just feel too Particular to be fake. I remember as a little kid, my personal white whale was this one for Colosseum that was like 'go to this one room in the Cipher base after you've done everything in the game and if you interact with this computer console, you get to read an email that tells you about a place called 'Vacation Island', if you go there you get some postgame battles and you can catch Moltres'. Like. Who thinks Moltres, specifically, of all Pokemon that existed up until Gen 3, was some mystical prize worth making shit up over? What is 'Vacation Island' supposed to be?? It's so specific and stupid that it almost makes it more believable, because it's not Deoxys or Mewthree or whatever, who would think 'yeah, lying about *Moltres* is gonna make me the cool kid'.

Could be that the rumor spread and got altered in its course, bit by bit with every passing student that spread the word further. The unregistered hypercam 2 fake videos of Deoxys/Lugia in Gen 3 were also way too specific, drop 99x Pokeballs, go up left and right 3x, get ported to the legendary. It just sounds made up.

If revavroom holds the magic muffler in battle it triggers -1 evasiveness to all opponents on the opponents side for the whole battle and adds a 20% buff to all priority moves it uses.

Watching this video 4 months later without the context of April 1st and I totally thought this was going to be a real thing. 😂 Great gag.

those stories people came up with in the early internet days were a riot, lol i had the opposite situation, where i discovered an actual glitch and nobody believed me. i actually accidentally discovered missingno independently back in like 99 or sometime around then. i'm sure other people found it *before* me, but i didn't really have access to the internet (dad did, but he almost never let me use it). i was 9 years old then and thought the little tutorial guy was cool, so i'd occasionally just go back and watch the sequence play out and then go back to whatever i was doing. i must have gotten lucky looking for water pokemon off cinnebar, or possibly i saw a wrong location spawn there (i wouldn't have known it was wrong) and decided to look some more. i actually remember exactly where i was: i was at a breakfast joint when i first saw this thing and my parents told me to keep quiet because i started freaking out. i then spent the next... 2-3 years? mispronouncing it as "missiningo" because it was a long word and i didn't bother to read it carefully. my brother and i spent a lot of time after that seeing what over-level-100 pokemon we could get to spawn by restarting after that, was a lot of fun.

I have never been fooled harder on April fools than today. SmallAnt, you are a fucking legend lol

Now THIS is a lot of effort for an April Fools prank and I love every single bit of it, congrats of suceeding on the challenge!

I got through the whole video, then immediately thought “wait….what day did this come out?” Lol

This got me good, I saw the title and thumbnail when the video came out not even realizing what day it was. That caused me to keep the video in the back of my mind the past 2 weeks where I’ve been thinking about watching it but never got to it. When I finally decided to watch what this “secret item” was today, I finally realized what this video was. Touché smallant, touché

this stuff also only works in certain timezones, which makes it sometimes a bit more difficult to understand in others.

FINALLY the only part left for me to complete my pokemon car built off the trade pokemon hold glitch was the muffler. you saved me a long time my good sir. 29,999 car parts later i can finally drive with style down cycle road.

You can actually transfer the magic muffler to a PS1 Memory Card. If you do, there is an arcade game in FF7 that unlocks in the Golden Saucer. All you have to do is beat the mini game on your first attempt and you’ll be rewarded the magic muffler as a prize. You can then use it on any character to automatically gain 25 levels. However, if you use it on Aerith, she won’t die after Sephiroth kills her. The cutscene plays as normal, but she’ll remain in your party.

I realised this is a april fools joke at minute 7:08 of this video....
