That's an old scam brother making like she's stranded and needs money to get home. Don't feed the scammers. When people come up to you and they want money it's usually a scammer. If you're going to do an Airbnb rent only from a Thai person or a Westerner.

Yep. a month ago Had a middle aged dude here in the manila PI try to do the same thing. He was dressed nice, with a new NFL hat on. Long spiel, no cellphone, no IDS. ya da ya da. needed ferry money home, around $40. I gave him $4 and told him he needed to take a cab on down to the US Embassy and figure his situation out. He acted all angry at me, like as if I was the one who caused the current problem he's in (if he's even in one).
scams from thai people: lose $3 scams from foreigners: lose $25+ dollars lol

I don't mind to give money to strangers if I know they really need it.
Haha, that Aussie accent impression was legendary!
Had same from a fellow Brit in Spain, saying he needed money to get home but I could tell he was a meth head so ignored him.
Bro you just have to force it to airbnb support and they will give you all your money back plus the will block this scammers or give them a fine. There is a diffrence between beeing nice and not letting them fool you. Sometimes it really helps if you shoe them where the line is
What scams are you experienced or heard about?
Bro please make a guide where to live in Bangkok
I respect how you try to live with honor. Eventually you will spot the scams sooner and be able to deflect them. You’re already some of the way there. I expect it may eventually feel like another martial art to you.

@@BushidoNomad yeah I was actually surprised considering all your experiences in Colombia. But with each experience, we grow, so onward!
Straight up..Brazil is where its at. Although Portuguese is very difficult. I have been to many different countries, and Brazil is honestly the best country i have ever visited. The people there are so cool, the vibe is like no other..the people, so cool. In Medellin, I always felt a very tense vibe, and always felt like the locals were mean mugging me...which they were. Brazil, not at all. Brazil has the Caribbean, the women, the activities, surfing, kiteboarding,...has it all. Though again, Portugese is not an easy language...and i ended up reclusing because i couldnt talk to anyone. But as for the country....EL MEJOR!

Thanks for sharing bro my observations were similar
I’m sure you are aware of this scam but I was walking on the upper walkway (above Sukhumvit Road and under the BTS Sky Train) between Nana Sky Train and Asok Sky Train and some guy approaches me and asks me if I speak English. I knew it was going to be a scam so I just kept walking but he kept following me. He was aggressive but backed off eventually. It would have been more difficult to try his bs if we were actually on the Street but the walkway I was on was less traveled and no close exit points if you are in the middle of the walkway

@@MikeO8585 he didnt let it proceed to the scam. could be anything, but always involves some hard luck story and needing money. non-scammers dont follow you, period. scammers do b/c they think they can wear you down and relent and give them money.
Man your right DR they’ll try to get ya for everything but once they know you been there and they don’t try as hard usually the guys from the states especially in sosua will ignore them that seems to work pretty well don’t talk to them don’t even look when someone’s yelling I know it’s hard when ur a nice guy in someone else country so you say hi next you know is they want money I’m talking grown healthy dudes looking for hand out gave guy money once it’s funny I gave this guy some cash later on as I was going into the liquor store he was coming out with an expensive bottle of rum I looked at him funny and he tried to play it off like ohh bro you want shots? Nope lesson learned not talking nor helping u again But if I was in a situation where I needed help I’d even be willing to take the shoes off my feet to sell or exchange for help I’d never beg once in DR I ran outta money I sold my back up iPhone to get through the last 48 hours But man you did a good thing it sucked it was for the wrong person

I live in Bogota and also believed this British guy who says he got robbed in Cartegena . gave him 50 mil. My instinct was to help him, but realized that he probably is doing this to every gringo looking guy.

ASK HER TO GO TO HER EMBASSY!!!
It seems that you've got the Australian accent very right.
Brothers, careful of, HIV and all kinds of STDs.
Merci pour les conseils. J'ai le projet de voyager en Thaïlande et je ferai attention aux étrangers. Il est vrai qu'une personne qui demande de l'argent à un étranger est un peu étrange
What did I miss? In the first story about the lady who said she was stranded, I am just hearing you say that you "think" you were scammed, when in reality, as suspicious as that must have been, you don't know if you were really scammed or truly helped somebody in need. Did you see her afterwards go buy some liquor with the money or something? Desperate times makes people do desperate things.

Exactly in the after math of analyzing it it's probably more likely I was scammed but not sure

tbh, since she is dressed like a hag, it would be considered hard luck begging.

So, if he wears a cheongsam, he will be mistaken for a local? Worth a try I suppose
I hear all these peoples story and never run into these people, of course I am an Ahole and would give them some great "free" advice and move on.

I love your impression of an obnoxious Australian. Just put those experiences behind you. In the end you didn't lose much.

As an Australian myself, I actually felt embarassed and was cringing hard having to hear your accent. You weren't too far off in all honesty as some low-class/uncultured Aussies actually speak something like that 😅😅🙈🙈
