It is impossible to dislike Jean, he’s all heart! 😭❤️

Too much heart for his own good. I didn't get to his battles with Eric Comas, but he really made a splash with Tyrell at Pheonix

Indeed. A very likeable man. He made a mistake signing for Ferrari. At Williams, despite their previous reputation for viewing drivers as employees, he would have been nurtured and looked after. Ferrari, being a big, political bureaucracy did not work like that, and in Alain Prost, he had the ultimate politician and diplomat as a team-mate, who sorted him out comprehensively. He wasn’t able to politick effectively and make the team work for him. But come to think of it, very few drivers (bar Ascari, Surtees, Lauda and Schumacher) have been able to get the very best out of Ferrari.

Awesome driver.
Jean was my favourite driver back in the day.
3 nobodys to some, 3 fucking legends to most. So happy F1 is in my blood
Alesi (briefly) re-passing Senna at Phoenix was utterly fantastic.

By far the best podcast at the moment. DC & EJ are natural co-hosts. Jean Alesi is just brilliant.
Jean and Gerhard were quite the pair at Ferrari

It’s a shame they never asked Jean about the story of him and Gerhard rolling their valet car in the Maranello car park right in front of a horrified Jean Todt.. 😂
Omg this is getting to be the best f1 channel on KZread! Every single interview is ace. If only you could laugh with Gilles and Ayrton about things… brings a tear to my eye.

The most likable figure, probably ever to race in F1 alongside Rubens. I doubt you'll someone who'll truthfully speak an ill word about Jean

Best interview yet. I love Jean Alesi. Down to Earth and a real icon of motorsport
I love these oldschool stories. They're great. The characters that were in the business back then. Just great.
I love Jean Alesi.
In F1 you have to be in the right car at the right time, which helps explain Alesi's one win. Its been 11 years since Alonso won a race, over 2 years since Hamilton won, and Schumacher didn't win any races in his Mercedes comeback. You can't be too critical of Alesi. Maybe he should have nursed the cars better, however even when Schumacher started with Ferrari, they were unreliable.

Alonso and Hamilton are the victims of rules which are favoring Adrian Newey (and the team he is designing for). The rules were set to end the Mercedes dominance and they saw the only way is favor Newey but it turned into bigger disaster instead.
My favorite driver in 90’s F1. Maximum attack, always great to watch and of course the hand position was unmistakable.

@@Bale4Bondthat’s harsh on Jean. Danny doesn’t have half the talent, heart or grit that Jean did. Danny got a big head and started to act like a public figure and a “celebrity” ahead of being a racing driver. Jean always has, and always will be a racing driver first and foremost.

@@Bale4Bond not disagreeing on the principle here, but the comparison to Danny is unfair to Jean. Jean wasn’t a glory hound, it’s fair to say that he followed his heart, and was a gentleman, almost to a fault.

I was there to see his only son and I've just realized his debut it race in France 1989. I went to Monza a number of times and was a number of frustrating car breakage including the year a rear hub failed and eventually. Back in the days of the V12s Alesi and of Berger were usually first out of the pits. To hear the shreik of the Ferrari engine as it made it's way around the Royal Park at Monza or the Ardennes Forrest was something else.
Coulthard is fantastic in this.
Channel should be renamed "Irish Pirate & Scottish Pilot".

We need a team like Jordan on the grid again that provides the conveyer belt of drivers for the top teams. All the teams seem to have junior drivers these days, but we need more cars on the grid so they can actually race and upset the top drivers and bag the odd win and podium.
One of his best years was 1996 in the Benetton. He was regularly on the podium as a best of the rest behind a dominant Williams, designed by Newey. Add to the fact Briatore and Brawn were fighting, and a lot of the crew were already packing their bags for Ferrari jobs. Much like his display in Phoenix, 1996 was a real show of the talent.

That' s true. However , they ( the team and Alesi) had too fanfaronned , jumped uo and down before the season start and puts audience expextation very high. In that regard, the results were a huge deception. I remember the interview that Alesi gave to french paper L'auto-journal in the pre-season. He was clearly saying he was targeting the world title 1996 and he had no time left and he was anymore not at an age to be satisfied with small pieces. ( small results) ( translated from french). If they had played it a bit down , 1996 would be perceived as a far less of a deception or underachievement.
I don't usually listen to podcasts on Spotify but these podcasts are so good that I binge listened to all the episodes. Its a shame you guys didn't upload the podcasts on Spotify at the same time as KZread. Please continue uploading podcasts on KZread regularly! This is the best podcast of all time! There is no other F1 content creator that can match this content.
Always admired Jean as a driver, and when he speaks you just think he is gonna start to cry, a great talent who just seemed to miss opportunuties in F1. If you know F1 you will know what I mean, one of my favourite drivers of all time and a true gentleman. About 20 years ago I was reading my monthly F1 magazine and I found out Jean is 1 day older than me, we will both be 60 this year in June. So I hope June is a great month for you and your family and have a very, Joyeux 60ème anniversaire.☘ :}
BRILLIANT INTERVIEW EJ & DC!!! Was alway's a fan of JA, thank you for telling us so much "behind the scene's" stuff. WHERE'S MY CUT??? LOLOLOL
This is a great thing to see. In our life we meet and make certain relationships with people that will stay forever. A great piece of humanity watching Jean And Eddie
I first saw Jean in the Silverstone European F3000 round in 1989 driving for Eddie, great cars great days!
If you want to see how popular Jean was with everyone in the F1 paddock. go and look for video clips of him passing the checked flag for his 1995 Canadian win..... the whole pitlane was out on the pit wall cheering him over the finish line. EVERY team! That is love!
I subscribed just because Jean was being interviewed. Man's a legend. Love Jean

Great to listen to a true legend in Jean , fantastic podcast we want more please
Love these interviews with iconic F1 drivers from the past
David Coulthard is great. A funny man far more entertaining than Brundle.
I never get this when Jean Signed for Ferrari the 641 was pretty much the best car on the grid. How was he to know the Williams would be better for the next 6 years
My favorite driver. Thanks for interview.
Well done on another great interview, really enjoy reliving motorsport in the 80's/ 90's
a couple of old friends together, what a great show, thanks for enternaining us!
Peter Windsor: “I remember going to a nightclub - it was DC’s party actually - after a Brazilian Grand Prix one year, and it was a late party,” “There was a balcony overlooking the dancefloor and I went up to the balcony to look down on it, see who was there and what was going on, and Kimi was up there.” “He had his elbows rested on this balcony, staring into space. I stood next to him and we both stared in silence at this scene, and then suddenly Kimi turned to me and said, ‘I hate Formula 1’, and then just walked away.” Quite a contrast between these two Ferrari drivers. 😄😄
Yessssss a full podcast on youtube! 👏
Jean Alesi, what a lovely and nice man. I was so happy for him when he won in Canada. Great talant driving his heart out.❤❤
Met david in south africa 🇿🇦!! Lovely guy my first ever f1 race I watched was Brazil 2001 where he won
Jean is one of the coolest F1 drivers ever 😎
I would have liked to hear a little about his Benatton years, Not bad cars ( again not good) and he got quite a few points in combattive drives.
love these podcasts with Eddie and DC and their OG guests ....hope it really takes off and keeps going
Greatest moment for me was being in Montreal and seeing Jean win the race!
I love these FFS, thank you, (I didn’t hear the podcasts).
So entertaining, thank you all
Alesi is such a star; a bright talent whose luck squandered what should have been at least a title. Such natural speed and a lovely guy!
Please for the love of God give to Mr Coulthard and Mr Jordan a proper F1 talk-show on television, they're such fantastic hosts!
it's so good to see jean alesi. one of my all time drivers. i love jean alesi! such an icon and so much style. lovely guy. and to hear him say that about fernando, awesome. bring mark webber on!!!!!

great episode!!
Jean what a legend great interview
Great podcast
Love Alesi ❤
These interviews with Eddie are incredible. Well done David and team!!
Allez-y Jean! He is such a legend. His manner of holding the steering wheel remains unique, and his car control was second to none. I remember seeing him get a massive tank slapper in the 412T2 once and by some miracle he kept the car on the track. Anyone else would have been in the wall.
Simply brilliant!
As a long time Spotify listener, I thought video uploads would never come and I'm very thankful!
Wow i just love this podcast, more more more please.
amazing these 3! I am learning to heart Coulthard! that Spa crush is deep in me, but one day I am going to get over it soon
That was brilliant ❤
I’m in bed with flu at the moment and really enjoying all episodes o ffs.
Wow three great legends hear great stream and so nice your so honest
Great podcast Gents! Gladly subscribed. I already see that there's one with Gerard Berger, watch that tomorrow! Happy days!
17:56 The funny thing is that they were 2 Jordan on the podium alongside Alesi for his very first win. And 3 years later in Spa 1998 when Jordan won his first grand prix and even 1-2 with Hill and Ralf, Alesi was there on the 3rd place, which would be his last F1 podium.
Saw Jean Alesi spin out in the early 90's at kyalami.... Good memories.... he was fine.... obviously.
The Great Jean Alesi indeed! I remember that Phoenix race! What a DUDE and thoroughly lively human being! 💪💪💪 Great podcast! "If I wanted a girlfriend I had to knock on my cousin's door" !! 😂😂😂
love it, jean is my hero. i had 2 hero in my life, jean, and webber. then i grew up and now i'm simply passionate of motorsport. i'm not a fanatic anymore.
Loved watching Alesi, he's the type of driver who made you sit up in your seat when the camera was on his car. Anything could happen.
Jean is an all time hero!
He came to the Paris launch of the renalt r29 and my debut as a test and demo driver for them. Met him a couple of times after that. Lovely genuine guy.
As a Finn growing up in the 90's, I had four favorites: the two Mikas, obviously, and then Jean as well as Giancarlo Fisichella. I bet many other had the same favorites of the two latter at least.
Bloody brilliant interview....getting into the real piranha club
I funking love this podcast there is nothing like it
I'd put Patrick Tambay's Imola 1983 and Jean Alesi's Montreal 1995 wins as two of the most emotional victories in all of the time F1 has been held, the circumstances both of course related to Gilles Villeneuve. I loved Jean's very individual 11-1 hands on the steering wheel style. Very likeable guy, very good driver, perhaps not quite top drawer, but an extremely reliable number two, a good man to have on the team. Great interview.
😂the F1 millions are flying around Eddie 's ears, yet all he can think of is how much money he saved by his kids not learning how to drive....😅😂
i Always liked Jean Alesi , a great driver .
What s charming gorup, enjoy to listen
Love hearing the stories behind the racing when we would watch F1 on the tele box.👍🏻😀
I always loved Jean's spirit. He had a difficult time at Ferrari. I think one of his best drives was the 1992 Spanish Grand Prix in the wet - where he finished 3rd. There was also his win at Canada in 1995. The battle with Senna at Phoenix in 1991. The battle with Mansell at Suzuka in 1994.
JA a true legend 👏
Enjoyed this EJ is a riot ...,! 🤣
Jean, always rooting for him. Don't think he got the best cars at the right time. Great series guys; lots of fun and insights.
I saw Jean win his only F1 win in Montreal in 1995 and have a picture of Michael on the back of his Ferrari editing the hairpin. Mind you in 1995 I did go to 11 of the 17 GPs! Alesi led many laps at the European GP in Germany that year.
Gotta love Jean Alesi!!
My favourite f1 driver ever....
Eddie Jordan calling someone else "dishonest at times" is hilarious
Jean Alesi, what a class act
Alesi one of the biggest wasted talents.
Eddie calling Frank dishonest is Like Arthur Daley calling Dell Boy that 🤣
