Wow great to have two legends of F1 hosting a podcast. Thank you DC and EJ for the fun and stories!
A very easy listen.. and you seemed to have stopped talking over each other! Great anecdotes.. nice work.
Great stuff, thank you gents. It brings back such good memories !
Just flicked on to this to see what Rob Smedley was up to,was actually glued to it watched till the end, loved it ,its great to see people do get on in F1 and become good friends, this was a great to watch.
This guy comes from my hometown. Makes me miss Middlesbrough.
Goodmorning DC, didn’t know you had a channel. Enjoyed your F1 commentary, subscribed
Really enjoyed that, great down to earth talking from these guys.
Thank you ive been waiting for content like that for years !
Met Rob in 2015 in Barcelona while he was at Williams. What a lovely guy he was, I have fonder memories of that day than with Lewis as a Lewis fan. Also Nikki was amazing to talk to, so blessed to be in the paddock that day.
Love the show, great guests.
Wow - Possibly your best podcast to date. Brilliant guest. ❤
This is the 3rd time I watched your channel. I love DC and EJ co-hosting. I got hooked in F1 during the eras of these two great guys. I just subscribed 🙏🏎🇺🇸

All 3 with regular drivers & not even on sprint weekends - if the most experienced drivers on the grid (Hamilton & Alonso) can have big moments in practice, there's no difference to a test driver crashing crashes happen, so its up to teams to plan for them

@@biljancanin Other than a claim which Bernie denies, Crashgate didn’t actually come out until Piquet Jr was sacked and he then cried to the press and Media. This was half way through the 2009 season. Always loved Rob, he seems like such a great guy. Will always remember that ‘fernando is faster than you’ radio message. It was like a big FU to the bosses at Ferrari with him making it so obvious to everyone else what was going on.
Love this podcast!
Jean Alesi.. Ha-ha! - what a character! I'll never forget the F1 race, Jean Alesi being told over the radio to come in for fuel. He sensed victory, and refused. Some laps later, Jean Alesi pulled over to the side of the track.. out of fuel. What was Jean thinking? XD

Another brilliant episode
I still don't understand. Justice for what? Ferrari blundered the pitstop and that ultimately lost him the championship, it wasn't Renault that lost him the title as much as he'd like to think that it was. Common sense just seems to be devoid. There could have been any reason for teams to pit, Ferrari messed up pure and simple.
Grate podcast. Must be longuer.

EJ says about replacing Frentzen by Sato. But that's not how I remember things. I remember that Frentzen was replaced by Zonta in Germany and then by Alesi for the remainder of the season. Moreover, there were two car and with Jarno leaving for Benetton/Renault anyway you can fit both Frentzen and Sato.
I’m really enjoying Formula For Success. I never used to like EJ and thought he was very opinionated. Well I think he has character and I’m glad he has strong opinions about things, we need more people like him in this woke world. Yeah, I can't understand what Massa is doing. For one thing, Lewis got screwed in Spa. A commentator said, "If Massa wins, it will always be tainted." Also, how many times could a legal case be made retrospectively? What about Bandini taking G Hill out in Mexico so he lost and his team mate, Surtees won?
I love EJ's growl. Hit like to keep the the growl ! 😂

You can see Rob being a proper jack the lad in his early years, great guy, cheers 🍻
I ave got so behind with my work so many times due to listening to this podcast and the other episodes before. I don't care.
TV GOLD.
Rob is great.
Talking about Takuma like he's Sakon Yamamoto or Alex Yoong. His Jordan scored 9 points, 2 by Sato, 7 by Fisichella. It wasn't winning a race with Schumacher at the wheel.
Jordan probably perfected the pirate growl on his Oyster Yacht around the world sailing.
No such thing as bad luck 🍀 just bad preparation. I remember Ron Dennis saying something like that.
What justice? Kimi was being sabotaged, hated the car/tyres and Massa made countless mistakes. Massa did not deserve 2008 at all.
The very first thing I thought of as interviewed started was Rob to Massa ( Fernando is faster than you ). Was it Alonso's Maiden race for Ferrari if not it was definitely his 1st season partnering Massa. I like Massa but he's wasting his time and money ,regarding the 08 WDC he was world champion for less than 10 seconds and that's how it is plus it was 16 years ago
Ditch the hybrids and go to hydrogen combustion V10s. All the sound, almost no emissions.
22:45 Michael Masi is not a racing god...that circumstance was man-made. The '08 circumstance was nature naturing.
Eddie DOGGINg on Yorkshire moors???🤣🤣🤣
In Lances Autobiography he mentions Massa
It falls into the "if my mother had balls, she would have been my father" territory.
Takuma Sato won the Indianapolis 500 twice.
Massa drove off with the hose attached, binned it in the wall later, had the clearly better car over a season, and was an embarrassing spinning top at Silverstone. Let’s not even get me started on the FiA screwing Lewis at Spa to bring Massa back into the title fight. I’ve lost all respect for Massa.

And Smedley was a charlatan.
I worked with ALL THREE of them.
You 2 are awesome. If I've said it once then it's worth repeating. Lewis is, at best, a 2x champion on merit. '14 &'15. Massa got screwed on '08, Jenson beat him in a car with a Merc engine zip tied and gaffer taped in the back. '10-'13 saw RBs 1st run, '16 Nico had enough and beat him in equal equipment and broke Lewis and the Merc PR team so '17-'20 he got a compliant team mate, Merc outspent everyone by a wide margin and now that there is a cost cap we see the results. I'm not hating on Lewis but if you go back and watch the races, Google the budgets you'll see for yourself. Merc has alot of money in Lewis from day 1 Nd fair play to him and them, it was not against the rules, but neither was it on merit.

You got time to comment, then you got time to Google it and see for yourselves. Not trying to change anyone's minds. It's there for everyone to see but I understand some folks blind admiration and fandom for thier hero's, that part of the sport but if you truly believe that Merc and Lewis went 4 straight on merit and not by spending close to 2 billion then bless your hearts. Just look at Bottas. 10 wins and 60 podiums in a Merc. Now he's lucky to get out of Q2. His talent didn't fall off a cliff that hard.

@@Lockwoodbeck61 I've been a Merc fan probably longer than some of the teamLH fans have been alive so it hurts to see them like this but facts are fact. I had to do the research to find out what went wrong. Now, he has been in a very top seat since day 1 as well so there's that but this podcast has changed my mind a bit. I'll give Lewis 3 championships cause, stuff happens but the big run was bought, not earned. Merc and the 17-20 run is a major reason there is a costcap now. And don't get me started on Michael schumacher, they'll come with the pitchforks and the torches for sure. 😅

😂 McLaren-Merc shouldn't have even been allowed to enter the 2008 Championship, never mind what happened in Brazil. Dennis and Whitmarsh were cheating bullys. Merc screwed up in 2021, if you think it was unfair following the directives of not finishing under the safety car, you can call it Karma. Like is said in this video, sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't. No point crying about it.

Justice should be done.
I'm by no means a Lewis fan but this whole Massa thing is ridiculous. You can't rewrite history. There have been plenty of rule breaks that have happened throughout history. Do we have to now go back through history and invalidate all results from any grand prix which featured a driver getting disqualified? Well said Rob for putting that one to bed. Speaking of rewriting history, it seems that Eddie has forgotten he dropped HHF for Alesi again...

Does anybody believe this Frentzen Sato story?, Eddie's regurgitated it several times but he didn't sack Frentzen mid season for Sato to jump in the car. No Alesi was in the car, if Eddies story is true why didn't he wait till the end of the season? There were rumours flying about at the time of a rift between Heinz and Eddie.
Lance Armstrong's 7 titles were taken of for cheating many years after he won. Why in F1 it looks strange to do justice. Many people were punished even banned for life but points were kept. Also with last lap saga of Max and Lewis and banned software that is installed but not used, secret tests etc. That is the ugliest part of this sport.
