Metal Gear Solid 3 got a bit harder and Metal Gear Solid 2 got a bit easier, I'd say all 3 have similar difficulties. Also MGS2 is a sequel and MGS3 a prequel so you can play the one you prefer first, no problem. My favorite is MGS3 though.

Also, just an FYI, getting the Fox rank can be done on the original japanese release. It doesn't have difficulty settings and only plays on easy, but if you do the other requirements you can still earn the Fox badge.

I love how impressed you were by the storyline of the game. And the fact they put this game together on the ps1 hardware, when still figuring out how to utilize 3d models in gaming is amazing. Especially with all the little quirky things added into it. Along with Resident Evil 2 this game shaped my whole gaming outlook and what could actually be possible. Only problem was, every game after never hit me the same

Another highly impressive platinum. Your persistence paid off. Speed runs are my least favourite type of trophy. I don’t mind doing a level or a race fast but I’m not a fan of having to do a whole game under those conditions. I never owned a PS1 so have never played Metal Gear Solid. Currently playing Trine 5 Clockwork Conspiracy then hoping to move on to Assassins Creed Mirage.

yeah man, do it on hard, get the stealth camo it'll help you with 80% of the main game (minus the bosses)

The 300 missions, did you do it only on Special missions or did you do the other stand alone “VR missions” game? I did Vr missions and it didn’t pop. Curious if glitched or if Special missions is the one needed

MGS came out when I was 13 and I was wise enough to pick it for one of my two games I got a year back then 😂 I know it absolutely inside and out (still have a ps1 hooked up today) but picked up this collection anyway. Going for the plat and very glad I watched this because I would have made the same mistake with the VR missions, luckily did all the main game stuff first. If you think it holds up well today, imagine how it was 1998 - absolutely mind blowing. The wait for Sons of Liberty was one of the longest of my young life, I literally bought PlayStation magazine just to get a disc with a none playable game trailer on it!

@@PlatinumBro Psycho Mantis was a huge road block back then because for a long time me and my mates didn’t know you needed to plug the controller into port 2. No internet back then, we were stuck weeks, till we looked at a guide in a mag in WHSmiths and got the tip! Cheers.

I remember when the Official PlayStation Magazine had the Tanker mission demo for PS2, it was before 9/11 so still had the Twin Towers in the intro cinematic. And then when 9/11 happened it delayed the release for months as it was a little "too soon" given the storyline and context of the plot. Still, that Tanker infiltration is one of my most favourite moments not just in gaming, but my whole life. Metal Gear series is definitely one of the greatest of all time.

I’m fuming at the game right now, as I’d got all the way to the end of the bank mission & only to discover that I had missed the Janus Key in the underground car park, so redoing that will be tomorrow’s task!

Regarding VR missions Trophy, did you get it via Playing Speacial Missions or VR Missions (which I think is the US version?)

Yeah so many! You can play either the normal version or the integral when you boot up the game but I didn’t a have clue about what the differences were ha

While I have only played partially the VR Missions on the vanilla game, and a few of Snake Eater and Sons of Liberty... I know I'll have a lot of fun getting the platinums for real this time... I just have to wait until I can download Integral for MGS1 as I'm curious if that version can unlock achievements, as I would want to do the Fox/Big Boss rank run on it's Alternative Round mode.

@@PlatinumBro The game takes different camera angles and arrange the location of guards and cameras, so you can't go like you normally do in the vanilla game during infiltrations (you can notice that as soon as you start the game as you have a guard very close to your starting position where you need to crouch).

Earning a platinum is great but being the first person to earn it is different achievement well done👌🏼

The 2 online trophies in Catalyst are pretty simple. Just try out each type of user generated content missions. You unlock them about an hour or 2 into the game. It’s not as good as the OG Mirror’s Edge but still a fun game IMO. Good luck.

I think it was the guys near the flame barrels during the escape. If you kill them by barrel explosions apparently it doesn’t count as a kill

I believe you have to do Speacial Missions for the VR training trophy if you choose the 3rd game VR missions its currnetly bugged so you would do 300 missons for nothing

Metal Gear Solid is very very good, I'd love a remake with the Metal Gear Solid V engine, but my favorite Metal Gear will always be MGS3 Snake Eater, one of the best plots in any videogame ever.

I got the Elite trophy without having to do it! I don't know why, it might be a bug but here's what I did to get it so you can test it. I finished the game one time in NORMAL mode and FRENCH language, got the BANDANA ending and received the code name "IGUANA". When I started the new game plus, the Elite trophy popped just like that at the beginning! Best bug in my life! 😁 Hopefully It will works for you too unless you want to do it legit! 😅

note: if you're going for the elite trophy, PLAY THE JAPANESE VERSION. It completely refills your health after each boss & you can still use the soliton rader. i can confirm it'll still pop the trophy (worked for me). this is MUCH MUCH MUCH easier than doing it wit the PAL or USA versions of the game

@@etienne.r. no just the normal version (first one on the menu on the master collection) but select the japanese language to start. you'll have to play it in japense but it's actually pretty easy. there are still short english language descriptions of all the items and weapons in the menus. just remember to call meryl after you beat revolver ocelot and otacon when you're in the room filling with gas at the very end.

@@pureisepic3035 no, integral was a japenese release but it used the difficulty settings from the american game, so that won't give you fox ranking. you want to play the ORIGINAL japanese release from the main menu (first MGS on the list in the launcher, then select japanese language to start). it's actually pretty easy playing in japanese - i was worried it'd be too confusing but it wasn't a problem at all

Decked out is for the bandana and elite trophy is for getting the fox or big boss code name :)

My VR missions got bugged in integral version where I got 99% done but ninja missions still locked.

@@PlatinumBro Oh, I am talking about the VR disc percentage not trophies. Since I need the ALL VR missions completed trophy but that on hold cause of a bug that locks me out of ninja missions that I need to do for 100% VR missions. Konami did respond that they are aware of the issue and investigate hopefully.

I've 100% every vr mission but sadly i was using the wrong version, even though special edition and vr training are the exact same😞

My spider-sense tells me another game was platinum 500. Did you land an early access sponsorship? Pretty cool... This was one of the first Playstation games I played when they won me over from Nintendo.

I haven't started my playthroughs yet as I'm trying to beef up my FOBs on Metal Gear Solid V which is an unnatural amount of grinding the same things over and over. But it's reassuring to know that they didn't make them insanely hard. Good luck with the other games. Metal Gear Solid 2's ending is going to blow your mind😉
