Holding people at arms length because you’ve been hurt in the past, while simultaneously craving something deeper with others is what some people get conflicted with, including hachiman. Being genuine with someone is the removal of the mask. Opening up means you’ll bleed, and probably be judged, but even so, the need for human connection is so deeply ingrained in one’s self that we’ll do anything.

His speech gives chills . And not sounded stupid like his first speech in season 1 lol. This one, really, he sounded like he is genuinely seeks for something genuine, he actually listened to Hiratsuka's advice about the miscalculations and human emotions. Such character developement.

I think these words always existed in his mind. He just struggled to form them, so he used the words he could at the time, easier ones. Then came along Hiratsuka and told him that it's ok to struggle, that struggling is not something to fear, and it doesn't disvalue whatever you attempt to bring to the surface. No, struggling is not a good thing. No one want to, but if you're willing to brave through the pain of it, you will find what you want and be able to show it to others as well as yourself. That in my opinion is Hikigaya's development.

This is a very good clip, I watch it all the time. It makes me sad because I want that type of relationship but no one else does that I talk to.

Just like he says himself in the first few seconds, "There are things that you have to tell us or we won't get it", sometimes it's difficult to know whether someone likes us or not, I'm pretty damn dense honestly, and looking back in life I feel as if I've gotten hints but not really in words you know? I wish people were straightforward and didn't treat it like a game, sure it's cute I guess, but we won't know for sure about how people feel unless they tell us, life be like that sadly..In most cases, people don't want to step up and admit their feelings due to rejection, and it's true but, you never know until you try, and again, in most cases..we don't try. I hope that you, as well as everyone else reading this or everyone in general, can find that genuine relationship, it's hard and annoying but..it'll be worth is in the end (:

I watched some animes in Japanese Version, and i guess most male characters in Japanese Version do that, like speaking with calm voice or like whispering voice, so they can sound cool. That's why most people like Japanese Dub

I guess Yui isn't true to herself. Always has a wall around her, letting people know a side of her which she wants people to see. Yukino however, despite having such wall herself chose to show her vulnerable side, which hachiman felt genuine.

@@agrimpuriya2585 It can sometimes be as simple as "I'm drawn to this person and only like this person," and admitting that in itself can be scary. We don't want to be bad people, afraid of burnt bridges and scorned feelings. It took Hikigaya a long time to be able to hurt Yui, but he trusted Yukino enough to hurt her from the very beginning. He became friends with Yui over the course of the series, but befriended Yukino the moment he saw her.

Wish I would have been smart enough to figure that one out in high school.

I will still play season 3 all the way I seen it a long time ago or last year are they going to load it up again in English I would love to see season 3 of this show other animation cartoon thank you very much

Idk the english writer, but its basically a japanese translation. The manga is written by Wataru Watari so all these quotes are by him (i think)

Seeing him break down and cry because he wants a genuine relationship actually fucked me up a bit I will knock the series for being like overly dramatic overall way more than it should but the build up of him slowly breaking down into tears over the course of season 2 was done so great.

It's cuz all of his solutions involved sacrificing himself. He made others hate him in order to solve their situations. Since this was the only way he knew how to solve conflict, he was unable to help those that cared about him and eventually those he cared about. I'm only on the second season though and tbh it seems like the writer is a little confused on what they're trying to say at times lol.

That was before he had friends. He always sacrificed himself. But now he has someone who cares for him and will hurt when he hurts. He doesn't understand that so he makes everyone angry when he does things like that. His introduction was him hurting himself to save yui's dog from yukino's car

His solution only works in a best case scenario when he didn't have anyone care for him His ultimately selfless act made his friend understandably worried cause he was hurting himself to do it It was obvious how acting like that affected him too even if he hid it, it made his self worth way less No one wants to see a friend hurting themselves

On the surface, the way he keeps doing things isn’t even working anymore. During the Student Council election problem he gets Isshiki to win so Yukino and Yui won’t separate from the club, but he doesn’t consider that their friendship won’t just vanish if they do leave. He also doesn’t realize Yukino is doing this on her own desire. So he breaks their trust and proves that he doesn’t understand the emotional core of their problem, and when he handles the event on his own he ends up distancing himself so much that the three’s relationship is basically hanging on life support. Emotionally, his self-sacrifice methods distress Yui and Yukino, because now he has people who care if he gets hurt, and he doesn’t pick up on this fact until they call him out on it, and even after that he defaults to it showing them that he hasn’t learned his lesson yet
