I always notice Mathew in the background after Tom(Wes) grabs the phone and speaks to “Flaming Dragon”. Just the subtle reactions as a blur figure nobody should really be watching. I appreciate it. Genuinely. And Bill Hader brings it home. His little quips when Wes is dancing are scene stealers for a brief second. That scene should get a lifetime achievement award.

When McConaughey asks Stiller how the adoption is going and Stiller says not good, McConaughey looks at the picture of his son and says "yeah, well at least you get to choose yours" all disappointedly, had me dead every time.

The fact that Les Grossman's personality was made by Tom cruise makes his character just that much more amazing.

I saw Tropic Thunder at a cinema, and I must recognice that I never guessed that Les Grossman was Tom Cruise until I saw the credits, and still justo didn't believe it, hahahaha

You may not like every Tom Cruise film, but you can not deny the amount of hard work and dedication Cruise puts into every film he's in.

Ali plumb is hands down the best film and entertainment interviewer in the world. He has a genuine love and passion for his work, he does his homework, and more importantly never crosses the line with the people he’s interviewing, the man is a consummate professional. The actors all let their guard down when speaking with Ali, because he has earned their trust time and again. Tom Cruise is a prime example, he is pretty much always charming in his interviews, but his mannerisms are practiced and not quite natural, with repetition between different interviewers, it’s Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise, with Ali there is no facade, Tom trusts the man opposite him, and enjoys their interactions.

Tom Cruise is often dismissed as merely a handsome kook, when in fact he's a cinematic savant. So many of his turns on film make them favorites. Vanilla Sky, The Last Samurai, Collateral, Minority Report, Eyes Wide Shut, Rain Man... even Risky Business. Hollywood wouldn't be the same without him.

I love Vanilla Sky but it was a remake of a Spanish film and they really just copied it verbatim and really didn’t even improve on it.

Tom Cruise who has been interviewed over 1 million times still has this incredible enthusiasm for his body of work. You would expect him at this point in his successful career to be bored by these question. The man is a true superstar.

The first time I saw "Tropic Thunder" I had no idea "Les Grossman" was Tom Cruise until the credits rolled. The reaction from the theater when they saw his name was priceless.

When I saw Grinch first few times I didn't notice it was Jim Carrey, then I saw credits, also a lot did the dubber that was selected for Grinch, 'coz we usually have this one specific guy dubbing Jim Carrey. Also had no idea that Robert Downey Jr. was playing the black man in Tropic Thunder until he took the mask off, or as you mentioned Tom Cruise. These little random surprises always get me.

I love this man's interviews, they flow, and I have yet to see a poorly formulated one from him. I appreciate that he does not constantly interrupt the interviewee's train of thought, that he is reflective and considerate and that he has a lovely sense of humor. Regarding his being given a show: he is not a comedian/S.N.L. Alumnus. This style of interview doesn't really demonstrate a need to pander to an audience. It seems like he really enjoys this type of interaction with a famous person. I hope he keeps doing his thing, it's pleasant to watch ❤.

Tropic Thunder gets funnier as time goes on. I just realised that most of the characters are out there shooting a war film, and Tom Cruise, the dude who you would normally expect to be doing all the action, is relegated to the role of a movie producer in an office the entire time. That is such a fucking fantastic joke, I can't believe it took me this long to get it.

This popped up today, and I had always heard that TC was a little arrogant. That never bothered me because to achieve in his industry I think actors need to have some arrogance. But this felt like Tom really enjoyed this interview and was truly genuine. Love the interviewer too. Absolutely loved Matthew McConnaugheys face when Less Grossman dances in front of him. Can that be any more expressive ?? 🤣

That is how an interview should be, where you get to fanboy out and ask questions that your viewers wish they could ask and talk about your favorite parts of the interviewees career. Most importantly, he respectfully listened instead of just rapid firing questions. That was so fun to watch.

I agree this interview is very good, this is the first interview that ive seen where they actually discuss some real staff and not just superficial issues promoting the movie or paying tribute to the actor and Tom Cruise had fun talking about the staff he cares about. I learned something and I gonna check more of that

TC is legend. Most of his movies are just an immersive experience, he has hardly delivered bad performances. One of the most committed actors in the world.

Probably one of the best Cruise interviews I've ever seen. You see how intelligent and down to earth the guy is, even after all that fame and fourtune. Great stuff.

I feel like In real life...he’s a bat shit ego maniac. But when it comes to movies, he just transcends. Can’t knock the guy at all. He knows his skill set and doesn’t go for roles that don’t particularly suit him but he’s great at what he does...which just happens to be dancing around in a fat suit

The fact Tom Cruise still knew that line word for word is pretty impressive.

It's rare to see an interview where Tom Cruise is relaxed and personable. This is probably the best I've seen so far.

Les Grossman was hilarious. The fact that he defined the look was genius.

Tom Cruise is one of my favorite actors. I’m 40 years old and my entire life (as far as I can remember) has been jam packed with outstanding movies. From Risky Business, Legend, and Top Gun to Tropic Thunder, Edge of Tomorrow, and back around to Top Gun again. This dude is so dedicated to his art he pulled off being a white American samurai; I mean who the hell else in earth could do that? Just a phenomenal actor and for the love of god does he ever really age. The guy looks better at 60 than most men at 40 lol. I swear he physically ages at 1/2 the rate of the rest of humanity.

7:25 the guy starts to mention from the top of his head some of the classics from old cinema, he is an excellent committed actor, he knows what he is doing, he has a good background on the topic, he uses no stuntmen, Tom Cruise when making a film is the translation of the word PROFESSIONAL!

This interviewer is awesome. The level of comfort I'm seeing on Tom Cruise in is so lovely to watch.

It Happened One Night is just a great film. It's freaking hilarious. I respect Tom Cruise for liking old Hollywood classics.

I do find him to be eccentric, but I don't think I have ever seen a movie of his I didn't love. He is terrific.

The thing I love best about Tom is his sense of play. He enjoys having fun and laughing. I'm guessing that's his best side...want to see it more!!!!! 🤣

These are always absolutely the best interviews of all time. I’m embarrassed to say I can’t recall the name of the interviewer, but I have watched all his Marvel content and I’m so impressed by his in-depth level of knowledge. He truly interviews in a way that no other interviewer has mastered. He makes it fun. Give him a massive raise!

Just shows the quality between US interviews and UK, they will give a whole show to Jimmy fallom who is one of the worst interviewers ever with his fake laugh and standard questions and you've got Ali plumb getting a great interview in order 10 minutes.

I'm a Brit and it's nothing to do with countries, just individuals. I've seen hideous Brit interviews and great American ones. In this case it's a really good Brit one.

The dynamic is very different from a late night show interview to an interview set up like these.

Say what you want about him....but Tom Cruise was a HUGE part of Tropic Thunder success...Les Grossman was a classic character

In retrospect, that was probably him playing a version of Harvey Weinstein

Edge of tomorrow.. That is probably my favorite. The acting in that movie was rather difficult to pull off too, awesome work.

My favorite movie with Tom Cruise, and Les Grossman is my favorite character for sure.

One of the best interviews of anyone I've ever seen, got a lot out of Tom. He was relaxed and having fun.

I have such a massive respect for Tom Cruise. He takes NOTHING for granted. He is in love with movies, and gives 100% of himself to them. True movie star to the core. Zero posing. I don't care about any of the crap out there about scientology or whatever. He is this guy you can see here.

I've watched this interview like ten times this week. I dunno why but I keep coming back to it and I love it so much

If you think about it probably the only actor that remains a top star in the business since the 80's until now .So much respect from Tom

Hanks, Streep, De Niro (even though his later movies are mediocre), DiCaprio, Pitt, Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington and a few others. . .Cruise does tend to draw the bigger revenues with blockbusters though.

The way Tom plays Les is just out of this world, I was literally crying with laughter watching him but he was quite a scary dude at the same time 🤣👌

The editing on this video is top-notch. Every film mentioned is shown, just the perfect amount to give context to what they're talking about. Major kudos for that!

Also really good interviewer i hate when an interviewer is fake and asks the same questions as the last guy. Or they have fake ads forced laughs. This guy though! Keep it up your killing it

I agree. I think of the 'superstars' of yesteryears, he is the only one the term still applies to today. Movie after movie, people are walking in to the MI franchise just coz of him. In this day and age, I can't think of any other star that gets people into theatres just on his name alone.

What religion is Tom Cruise? Scandinavian?

I can feel how much the interviewer loves movies when he asks questions and interacts with the actors and actresses.

I never would have guessed the breadth and depth of Tom's preparedness for his roles simply based on how the media has portrayed him to me.

best interviewer ever! could watch tom talk for hours this was so much fun

I don't think there is any other actor that genuinely loves movies as Tom Cruise does. Brilliant actor, polite, courteous and for me he really defines the modern day 'movie star'.

Damn! He knows so much even about the classics! He genuinely loves his craft. So much dedication, passion and knowledge about movies! 😍😘

The perfect interview. This gentleman might be the best interviewer on KZread. He knows the subject and and the subject matter. Tom Cruise is hands down the best actor of our time. This is a legendary interview with a legendary actor.

Legend This guy flew a helicopter in a dangerous sequence, while acting and controlling the cameras and all alone in the helicopter. Nobody has ever even attempted that. He's the man

Tom Cruise’s point about movement and meaning in fight sequences was really great, I think a lot more directors should follow his lead.

I don’t care about people talking about this movie has the best cast and that movie has the best cast. Tropic Thunder will forever have THE BEST cast

Tom Cruise. An absolute legend. He is friendly, inspiring and always trying to make movies better than they were originally written, I bet he can be a pain to directors sometimes but in the end it is worth it. I enjoy his movies no matter what role he plays.

I always love the way this interviewer phrases his questions and is respected by every actor who he engages with.

Does 500+ jumps from an aircraft, and also sings Rock You Like A Hurricane as good as the original. We are pretty close to running outta words to describe this guy. Holy frigging flying fish.

Say what you want about him as a person...but as a filmmaker and actor the guy NEVER phones it in. Always awesome to watch!

I wouldn't say he's a bad person. Extremely deluded and brainwashed, but not a bad guy. To be fair, most religions sound as ridiculous as Scientology to me. I don't get why they tend to be singled out.

I’m a big Tom Cruse fan. I watched tropical thunder and I didn’t know he was in it until the last scene when he’s watching the oscars with that tom cruse relaxed posture and his signature smile on his face. Awesome acting. Worthy of an Oscar

Say what you will about Tom Cruise, but he is single handedly carrying all of Hollywood on his back. He truly cares about every aspect of cinema.

This interview was quite exciting! They both communicated so well and in such a vibrant way! Also, I think Tom Cruise is an excellent actor! I enjoy his movies a lot! Hope to see more of them!

Worked for a few months on the WB lot in Burbank. When he came through the gate, one of thee nicest people, you'll ever meet, hands down!

This is my fav Tom Cruise interview. You did a great job.

Amazing interview. Usually interviews are a waste of time but this is incredible.

This interviewer is incredible. When he asks Tom's favorite movie, he says it's impossible question. Depends on the mood and the interviewer immediately sets the right context for his question to get a clear answer.

the dude broke his ankle jumping from one building to another in MI: Fallout and still completed filming the scene I have a minor pulled muscle in my back and fell like laying on the couch all day

This is the kind of interview I want to see more of. An interviewer who loves movies and appreciates the talent and the actor who is able to let loose and just enjoy the event.

Excellent interview, but also gotta give credit to the editor for making this video so good from start to finish.

@@ashash1927 Cruise does a great villain/unlikeable character, shame he's been choosing mostly Mission Impossible type movies. My favourite part of his career is probably 90s to Tropic Thunder, he really did have a large variety of roles while still churning the occasional quality action film. If you like Cruise in Collateral as the villain, he's also villainous/not the traditional protagonist in Interview with the Vampire, Magnolia and to a lesser extend Vanilla Sky. Magnolia is a top 5, maybe even all time best Cruise performance for me.

Thank you for perpetuating this as a relevant comment in EVERY video related to this performance.

This guy's one of the best interviewers I've seen in a while. I think because he comes at Cruise more like a fellow insider talking shop, rather than as a fanboy like most would.

Biggest movie legend in the world, period! The fact that the Academy hasn't given him an Oscar yet, is simply a tragedy. Whether you like the guy or not, Tom Cruise has the most impressive track record in Hollywood, and he should've won more than one Oscar by now. Mostly, I think he got robbed when he was nominated for "Born on the 4th of July" where he delivered a breathtaking performance :/

I think he's beyond those awards. He never expressed any real interest on those anyway(i think he actually not a fan of the idea of a paid award). Acting, stunts and learning new tricks is where his passion lie.
