Glad to hear your mom's doing better, Adam
Glad your mom is doing better. I'm so glad its not just me - seems that this is a thing. The OPR games are a really decent product where rules bloat has become a barrier - a positively disruptive business model IMO. I've found myself buying more models from lots of suppliers (inc. GW, OPR Wargames Atlantic, Anvil etc) to make little teams for these games. Would love to hear more. Rock on OPR.

I kind of stumbled upon OPR too for much of the same reasons. GW aren't bad at making models, but for some reason the army lists fill with so much rules bloat that it just isn't fun. And to think that after 40k 8th edition I thought they had finally understood that bit ... but when 9th came along and the cycle repeated itself again I said to myself : no more. So yeah, OPR ... like Mantic's Deadzone/Firefight it feels kind of liberating to have a game that goes : here's the rules and here's all the factions you could possibly want.
Yeah, I have a similar idea about my kill teams. A tip on the models: the One Page Rules fan wiki has lists of units from OPR systems and models to be used for them from GW and Mantic if one struggle with identifying the unit by name (as I sometimes do).

Cheers to One Page Rules! Enough of GW’s abuse!!
I’m just still playing kill team 2018 still, I bought all the books and have more than enough factions and options to keep it interesting in our gaming group :)
OnePageRules rules. The models you get with Patreon level 2 are just awesome O_O I recommend everyone takes a look at both the models OPR has made, as well as the rules they have. Glad to hear your mom is better, Uncle.

Yeah, I've been a OPR Patron for about three months now, and with the discount on their MMF store from the patron I've picked up a bunch of previous stuff for cheap. Awesome minis and an awesome value. Spent this weekend printing out a ton of Jackals and Alien Hives which I am going to be using with games like Space Station Zero, 5 Parsecs from Home, Stargrave, etc.. Since the last few months releases has given me demons for four different armies I may even look into getting Reign in Hell.

@@KrisHyre Reign in hell will be awesome, get on board, loving Space station Zero also and am just starting 5 parsecs from home.
I did a similar thing. I played Guard all the way back in 3rd Edition 40k, took a bit of a break, and came back briefly for 5th. Most of the Cadians got sold on, but I'm left with roughly 15 or so Valhallans with a mix of Troopers, Command, Special and Heavy Weapons. Came across OPR and started list building with what I've got. Built up and statted everything I had. Then the goblin came out and I bought a box of Scions to use as Stormtroopers and a box of Orlocks to use as Veterans... I been eyeing up a box of Mechanicus Rangers for years but can't justify it. Yet.
As a teacher trying to get a table top gaming club up and running at my high school this was exactly what I needed. Easy to play and being small teams/armys I can crank out a couple minis on my printer for the kids for what ever faction they want to paint/play.

One very inexpensive thing for kids is to print 2D minis. Wyloch has a great video on how to do this easily with a little Google searching and printing.
I like your have-models-will-play approach; it helps stop me from agonizing too much over building and painting the most competitive or even just plainly legal teams. Pragmatic, achievable and most of all refreshing. Cheers!
Happy to see you highlight OPR.. I'm so burnt out on 40k price hikes, release cycle and drama after decades of loving it I just don't anymore.. OPR has been filling that void and with 3d printing its easy and affordable to not only print minis to play with I can easily gift them to people I want to teach to play. Quick easy game play.. I'm loving it

Great point. 3D print, quick prime job with each army in a different color and instant gift. I've often found priming in the solid color which is most predominate saves a ton of time when you do get around to painting, but also allows you to just jump in and play without tons of grey on the table.
The thing I like about the streamlined nature of GF/GFF is it still feels narratively credible. It still feels like the miniatures fit with the stat lines. The factions all feel very characterful, and the points spread between smalle specialised armies vs horde armies emphasises that. A Battle Brother force looks like a small elite force vs a Human Defence Force army.
News of Mom's good health is the most important thing in the already interesting video
One thing to note is that the OPR rules include kinda focus on both GW but also Mantic Games and it's Deadlands minis, stuff like the Ratman and Dwarf Guilds. Then there's the Jackals, who were apparently Kroot but have gotten so many options I'm glad they did standalone models for them.
OPR content is great. They've really ramped up the content they are making. I also like that people have started creating variants to incorporate other types of models, such as Xeno from the Alien movies. Will have to see if there is a Cyberpunk variant of the Grimdark Firefight ruleset, as I think it would work well.
One Page Rules needs so much more advertising! So glad to hear you talk about it.

I think they're firefight game is not nearly as good as their larger scale grimdark future.
Just finished my "Battle Bros" and "Orc Marauders" crews for me and my grandson to play some Firefight. I'm on board and have the same thoughts as you do in regards to this. However, I am using Puppetswar minis for mine.
Glad to hear your mum's doing better. Low potassium is no joke; getting a doctor's office call saying you need to go to the ED immediately is scary. Been there, done that. Hope her potassium stabilizes and she doesn't continue to have problems with it. Thanks for keeping us updated, and for all your hobby videos.
Glad your mom is doing better! On a different note, "I don't know, it's sci-fi, man" gave me a good chuckle :)
Glad to hear your mom is recovering. Hope she continues to improve. Thanks for what you do.
Harrah! Thats good news!
One Page Rules is awesome! I've been using some 3d printed Halo models against Star Wars Legion, or Games Workshop models
I had a look at one page rules. It seems to me they heavily leverage old 4th ed 40k. It’s good to have rules options but unless my local meta changes (which is highly unlikely), I will likely just stick with games like Frostgrave or space station zero that are even more simple and focus on getting gaming done rather than rules flipping.
Glad to hear she is doing better.
First, glad your mom is doing well. Second, OPR is amazing, fun, fast and easy to play. Thanks for promoting it.
Best wishes for your mom's recovery. I love GDF Firefight! I've been playing Ork Marauders, Plague Brothers, Robot Legions , and some others with my son. Using my old Killteams!!!
Glad to hear your mom is feeling better Uncle Atom; As for the video topic, I think the same about the New Kill Team, in The previous edition you could go after the fantastic models you wanted in your collection and use them relatively easily in your game. Forces could be mix and match with what you wanted in your team. But now you have one unit, like Tau pathfinder and that's it. I also see a lot of tournament play and as a casual gamer, I don't tend to do well in that arena. One thing I still enjoy with games like Necromunda and Warcry is the number-crunching homework before the game in trying the best combination of the choices I have, the new kill team gets rid of that, I think the number of players will start to drop as the game goes on for those reasons.
Glad to hear mom is doing better
thanks for the awesome review and endorsement of something i discovered through you and am so much happier i play than the fore mentioned, 2021 version of - you know.
OPR has reinvigorated my gaming life. Was so tired of constant rules changes and book bloat. OPR is a breath of fresh air.
I'm glad your mom is doing better. OPR has been amazing for my gaming group. We're getting ready to play our first Grim Dark Future tournament this month
Good to hear she's better, best of luck to you both
I've been doing this for a few months now, including the use of Horus Heresy as Battle Brother 🤣 I am now pulling out all sorts of old games to strip the models out for OPR GDFF such as Gangs Of Commorragh, Silver Tower and AT43!
I'm curious, what is preventing you from playing Kill Team 2018 still if you enjoyed it so much? One of the things I love about tabletop games is you don't have to play the latest edition of things, and you can just stick to the versions you love instead. Is it just a shortage of people to play with? Or something more?
this is the first video of yours I watch but I can't overstate how glad I am your mom is doing better, hope she's 100% soon!
Whoa!!! Thanks for sharing this army builder. It was the missing link for me. Now I can lay out my many models of a particular type and just build a new list then play!
Fantastic news at the start. One Page Rules sounds fantastic. Hopefully it can get more people playing as they can pick up cheaper models from 40K that are not the meta any more. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
I just saw the video regarding your mother and happy is she is doing better. OPR and TMC have some excellent stls for printing for your wargaming needs...and I completely appreciate this comment "...its your stuff you can decide what you want to do with it..." (summarized)...that is the truth of this hobby.
Ah the Space Saurians, I love those models! Will build a list with them once I finish of my Space Samurai army.
Happy to hear your mom is doing better. It’s a nice Monday morning surprise to get a new video. Using my older models really keeps me interested in the work I did on them too.
I'm also trying to get into Grimdark Future as an alternative to 40k, because I don't like how the rules keep changing.
Glad to here Mom is doing better. OPR also lets you mix factions for the Big Army version... sure you could do the same for FireFight.... it's a nice game. that Heavy Flamer is clearly a SpecOps Heavy Flamer, dealing the damage of a heavy flamer in the size of a standard one duh.
OPR is basically the only way I can play. The rules are light, quick but flavourful. Great use for your models!
Excellent that your mother is doing well. And also great shoutout for OPR again. You are the hero miniatures gamers need. Cheers!
Glad your mum is doing better! Have the same problem, build Eldar for KT 1.0, Wraithguard and Banshees and now I can only use Guardians and Dire Avengers, bad move from GW. But I swore myself not sell anything anymore that I painted. So I guess they need to be used as proxies for other systems.
Oh yeah, glad you got a good run with OPR. The armies are super diverse and decently balanced.
Glad your mum is doing better, Uncle. This video is great, thanks for the effort with it. Like you I was a bit bummed by the change to the new version of Kill Team, and love that you’ve been getting into One Page Rules. Would love to see you do a bat rep or two of this one.
very glad to hear your mother is doing better. Your enthusiasm around Kill Team was one of the factors that really got me into it and I was lucky enough to have not dived too deeply before KT21 released, so i never felt that burn of having to start over. I'm quite enjoying the new edition (ESPECIALLY into the dark) and was kinda bummed that you didnt seem to like it. But I'm excited to see you find something to do with your old teams. I've heard great things about One Page Rules and a bunch of my favorite content creators have been picking them up. Seems like a great system, I'll have to give it a whirl.
Happy your mom is doing better. Thanks for the video. I downloaded the free version of Firefight and Future, but haven't really tried it yet. This video is inspiring me to build some Firefight lists and give it a try. Thanks.
me my wife and my friends have been playing Grimdark Future and Age of Fantasy games from one page rules.. we have been playing both games playing with 750 points so we can all find the armies we like and get the rules under our belts.. what we all like about OPRs is we can take GW models with D&D models we have and 3d prints models.. and it is made it where we have a fun creative armies that we are all enjoying building.. it makes it where all of our armies are super cool and to each of our personalities...
Glad to hear you Mom is doing better :) I did the same thing! I switched to OPR Grimdark Firefight and I love it! Can use all my GW models, and its so much easier and streamlined!
Not all their armies are GW inspired as far as I know, beyond their STL armies that is. Heck I think there's even a "make your own army" builder if you are a patron (As in, make the rules and units, and it calculate the points) That's the beauty of the One Page Rules games, it's made so anyone who owns some models can play with anyone who owns some models.

Can confirm the custom army builder, I'm using it to make various heroes and characters for established armies. They are revising it and will soon release a 2.0 version.
ALL of OPR's games are freaking awesome. Not only are the skirmish-level games of Grimdark and Fantasy my favorites of the whole bunch, I use the even more simplistic game "Warstuff" from their One-Off games section to introduce my 7 year old to tabletop wargaming with his Lego minifigures!
Please more of onepagerules! Great Video!
Very glad to hear your mom is on the mend. I hope for respite and comfort for you and your family.
Really glad to hear everything's going better with your mom! I am also in the boat that I went from having tons of Kill Teams I loved in 2018 and now I have some new ones but I never want to play the newer KT (on top of my friend's group not liking the new one and then drifting out). I think I am going to try out OPR with this stuff, hopefully soon.
Really good news about your mum, best wishes from London England
+1 for more OPR content. would love to see some batreps
Need to look this one page rule stuff out, sounds great.
Whew! So glad you're Mom's doing better!!
I am in the same boat. I got into 40k with 8th edition. I could keep up with the rules but the smaller scale games seemed a little stale. A friend and I split the Killteam starter box and played the heck out of it with some minor changes to the flesh wound system. We both ended up with 4 or 5 kill teams each. KT2021 didn't really work for us so we kept playing the old rule set. Some coworkers wanted to play and OPR really made it easy to introduce new wargamers to the hobby. We lent out teams, one guy actually glued legos to 28mm bases to use as guard. We got 4 converts out of that and even had a little competitive season over lunch hours. Big ups to One Page Rules for slim and trim easy to teach rules and fun games.
Great vid. And yeah - Grimdark Future: Firefight is such a great intro into war gaming. Don't forget you can use the point calculator with it, as well! Make completely custom heroes for your teams.
What I liked about KT18 was that it was 40k lite. It was a great way to get used to 40k’s ruleset.

That's exactly why I didn't like it haha.
Glad to hear your mom is doing better, Adam. Among the many things I like about GFF is that, unlike Kill Team '21, you aren't limited to the narrow pool of units you can choose from (basically just Troops choices and some rare other choices). The older version of Kill Team apparently gave you more options, but the current one is very specific, especially if your faction still uses just the compendium. In GFF, if you want an HQ choice, like a Space Marine Captain or a Drukhari Archon, you can. If you don't want any kind of leader figure, not even a Sergeant, that's fine too. You can freely mix and match models from many different kinds. So long as it all fits under the points you and your opponent agreed to, it lets you do it. It just works. That's sort of what I like about OPR. The game system just works. You aren't jumping through hoops, filing forms in triplicate just to field the units you want to field. It _empowers_ you to play what you want, rather than constraining you with arcane and multi-layered systems.
First of all, so glad your mom is doing better, family first. Secondly, great video. I am a huge fan of OPR and love the ability to use (or reuse) miniatures in a much more streamlined and fun ruleset!
im so happy its getting better for your mom
Thank you for the update on your mum. We appreciate how genuine you are with your viewers. Lastly, We💖love your💥" PA-CHOW!! ".
OPR is one Patreon I will maintain for a long time... so many great model STLs and what great work in the Rules and missions, etc... Cheers!
Started video. Followed the suggestion to watch "What Do I Do With My lllegal Kill Teams?" which suggested I watch "What If Your Army Gets Nerfed?" which suggested "Worrying About Change in Wargaming". I see what you did there. Time traveler.
Glad to hear she's doing better! I feel the same about KT 21 vs. KT 18. I tried KT 21 for the first time just a couple weeks ago and it's just a bit too arcadey/boardgamey and more restrictive feeling than KT 18 for me. I might try it a bit more in the future but only because that's the only skirmish gaming scene in my area unfortunately.
Really happy to see you putting the spotlight on OPR! They are the answer for anyone with GW figs around and a desire to play a game that feels like 40k without sacrificing the time/money/sanity/etc required to get on the GW book-buying train and experiencing it's accompanying madness. We've largely skipped over Firefight, but Grimdark Future has allowed my son and I to dig out old 40k armies and have a blast playing "40k" with minimal fuss and maximum ease and enjoyment. I've played a number of very good 40k substitutes (Warpath Beta, Shockforce/Warengine, ITEN) over the years, but the excellent rules, accessible layout, extensive army lists, and fantastic army builder program have me completely bought-in for OPR. Though as you point out, not every single wargear option is represented, it's darn near complete to the point where you can thumb through the codex of virtually any 40k edition and find your unit's loadout represented exactly -or at least by it's equivalent-in-function- in the OPR army lists. Lastly, I might have missed it in the video, but it bears reminding that the core rules for all their systems are completely free. The "complete" rulebooks, acquired via Wargames Vault or Patreon are highly recommended, but not necessary for starting out.
I love Grimdark Future. Some of the OPR armies are based on Mantic models. I think Feudal Guard are from another model maker.

Gotta chime in for OPR. Buy a month of Patreon, get the Unit Points Calculator, make custom everything. Leave 'Counts As' behind. (Also, glad to hear about your Mom.)
Glad to hear about Mother Smasher doing better. Good work figuring this out also. Hope you have a good time!
Very good to hear your mom is doing better. So, something a little left field... Today I had to give evidence in court. I really like how you explain things, and I have problems with talking too fast / being scattered. So, I just copied how you explain things, and gave evidence. It went really well! Thank you sir :)
Just found out, glad your Mom is doing better Adam. God Bless.
Thanks for introducing me to OPR... looks terrific. I have many older armies lacking rules and this looks to be a perfect fit. Much appreciated sir!
Really glad your mom is doing better!
We are still playin Killteam 1 Ed. Love this! Probably never gonna play 2 Ed.
nice to know your mother is safe & well
Grim Dark Future and Age of Fantasy games are FREE. It's only the expanded rulebook that costs money (or you get it for free as a Patreon. The Patreon gives you the 3D models every month. I've been with them for over a year now and I have almost 6 armies for Grim Dark Future and about four for Age of Fantasy. Some of these model sets, like the Alien Hives, I think are just better than the GW equivelents. Also, you can run different point amounts for Grim Dark Future Firefight, its just they reccomend 650 or so to get started while you get used to the rules, it's nice to bump up the points to 1500 for a size closer to Kill Team or Warcry. Can't wait til all the Suarian Starhost set is complete. Common, space lizards in power armor?; it's a no-brainer, lol. Welcome to the OPR club!
Good to hear ur mom is doing better
Really glad to hear mum is doing better, Great video also. Cheers.
Glad to hear your mom is doing better. Great video as always
Yea... One Page Rules write games well. Plus the army builder is top notch!
I'm pretty much in the same position that you are re: Kill Team, so this is very helpful. Thanks. 🙂
Love these new Fire Fight teams. I don't have any 40k but I've always loved a lot of the models. The smaller scale of this game makes it seem much more approachable than most games in the genre and a great excuse to grab a bunch of different models. I'll have the check the fantasy game as well!
Happy to hear your mom is feeling better. Stay well 🙏
Really glad to hear your mom's doing better. Take care!
I'm so happy you discovered OnePageRules! I just started playing with my daughter. Absolutely fantastic set of rules. We use mixture of GW models (for Battle Brothers), and some 3D printed GrimGuard. I love the freedom that game gives me. :)
Very happy to hear your Mom is doing better. Also, some fantastic paint jobs. I really like how you did the sword on the HH model. I’m painting that one right now also.
Looove OPR's skirmish games, definitely going to take pics of my teams and annotate them like you did with yours to help with gameplay clarity, that's a super cool idea!
Must be something in the air because my buddies and I are well into GDF:FF at the moment, partway through a Gang War (1PR Necromunda) campaign :) Glad your Mum is doing well.
100% man their beta online list building has to be one of the best army builders going - so easy and by the very nature of having a max of 3 stats per unit (if you include tough, which not all have) its so easy to look at.
Totally with you tbh, the 'shapes instead of numbers' play, the compendium being unusable and the really werrd line of sight rules are all annoyances. But not being able to list build (and re-use any of your existing teams if you built since Elites came out) totally killed my enthusiasm for what used to be one of my favourite GW games. Glad your mum is on the mend.
Glad to hear your mom's recovering.
Been hearing more and more about One Page Rules. Definitely checking it out later today.
I'm glad to hear your mother, is doing better, thanks for this video, I don't know 2018 kill team, I just approached it, and I really like it, but my life mate says, for her is a little bit too "strategic", and as you said in another video I didn't push, but maybe with the one page rules, everything will be simpler, I'll try. Thank you
Love hearing others talk about my favorite game
While I'm busy selling off all my 40K models (and boy does it feel amazing!) I cannot put into words how much I encourage people to look outside of GW and major main stream games. There are just sooooo many fantastic (and far better/more enjoyable) games out there.. Your miniatures deserve better.
Playing my first game of Grimdark Future tomorrow. Looking forward to getting into it the OPR eco-system.
Take a good care of your family, wish you all the best)
