Well here's a fun little Hoover cylinder vacuum cleaner from the mid 1980s for us to restore.
I bought it from my friend Richie who's having a clear out. Along with another Hoover that we will see in a later video.
This little cylinder requires a FULL restoration and we will do that in an upcoming video series - it's been a while since we were in the workshop together and I think this is an excellent candidate.

We really enjoy seeing Steve elbow deep in some basket case. Giving succour and life support on the workbench. However for us this would be a bit too far gone. £80 seems cheap to save all that palaver. As always great to see Steve's delight at the latest treasure to be unboxed. 👍

It’s amazing that all the cheap two a penny machines of 40/50 years ago are now the hardest to find . I guess the bearings went then that was that in the bin 😖

Funny thing is, I don't remember these coming in to my friend's shop very often back in the early / mid 90s. I reckon you're right - they were cheap so even when they were relatively modern, people didn't have them repaired. My grandmother's Freedom only lasted four years from 1982 to 1986. The motors were DREADFUL in these cleaners

@@TheVintageApplianceEmporium yes not great motors but since I got a bearing extractor they hold no fears now 😂 but look how we love the freedoms now 😄 orange one on eBay not long back got all excited then saw chunk of plastic from the side missing .wasn’t paying £200 for that 😖
