The Grand National was a freak of nature in the 80s, they had a bumper sticker saying "I brake for Corvettes", the GNX was even faster. They're still winning races today.

​@@executiveinvestments The only reason for "killing" is the age of these cars (weak valve springs, boost leaks, lack of maintenance, etc.). The performance of a stock Turbo Buick in 1987 would still smoke half the cars today. It was a high 13-second car from the factory and did 4.9-seconds in 0-60 (Car and Driver test). Those 1987 specs are inline with with performance of Q50s, Q60s, A6s, and more); not bad for a 1987 car. "Freak of nature" suits the car. It was an affordable Buick that was only outdone in 0-60 by the Porsche 959 and Ferrari F40 in 1987. Aside from the point: A well kept GN with bolt-ons will hold its own against many things on the road today.

Lol 1 yr later and this amazing dudes videos just started Poppin up... And my videos are predator catchers, police body cam, and vehicle revival, street races, drag races, car builds, and some gun channels... Been that way for years and he just now popped up...

Those GN are no joke man They can really fly as they have before. Its fun and then you have to deal with the haters. The Neighbors complaining or some other dumb thing because the car is awesome.

Awesome video ! Brings back memories of my 87 gn... It wasn't a gnx but I had the gnx fender flares, wheels , vents... And was worked on by eastern performance in pa.

I was an Automobile claims Adjuster, in 1987 I had a Appraisal at a Dealership in Middletown Ct, one of the Salesman had a Gran National as a Demo Car, he let me take it for a spin...It was the fastest car I've ever driven, the rear tires broke loose when it shifted into 2nd gear. Also, back in 86-87, the Connecticut State Police used the T Type Buick Regal, they were all Maroon with T Top Sun Roofs, they had the same Turbo 6 Cyl, but they had a Computer Chip in them to make them even faster.

i have a 68 442 350 and u are right about that just like most people have no idea on a LS and what it means and who builds a LS engine and they never built a bb in history but a lot think they did they get confused because the 70 chevelle came with a ho 454 bbc 450 hp at 485 torque then they had the LS 6 454 small block that put out 485 hp at 525 torque and LS stands for leslie snoboskie which started the GM racing division then interduce the new line of crate engines in the 70 chevelle and LS never worked for chevy so y would they put his name on their engines then in 94 they made it a optional engine but before u could only get one as a crate engine and y would they call 2 different engines the same thing they would never do that plus there is a lot more about them . i got it all from the LS website plus my friend use to run a ls 6 454 in 1975 on the strip

Need more cameras. I love GNX's, An old shop I worked for had 3 of them and one was a built one with a 76mm turbo and ran a best of 10.3 and I loved being able to drive it around the shop. They got that typical 80s crappy interior but haul ass like a V8 except only a 6cyl. Something about those 80s turbo 6s just made them unreal for their time, the cyclones, typhoons, grand nationals, just awesome cars. The cyclones were even crazier with AWD

I believe the rod is a waste gate actuator rod. Its adjustable to shorten or lengthen . Three is a diaphragm inside that area where the rod connects to to regulate boost pressures .

I’m 23 and when I was small I always wanted a grand national or a monte to make it fast but can’t afford a classic. So I got a 98 civic that has a d16y7 non vtec and tubrod hits 15psi stock head and block. I raced one of those z28 and I smoked him bad he got really mad lol. Suggest hide the tachometer on the hood run shift light inside dash, Like Hurst 1/4 sticks automatic shifters like the old Lenco orbital had manual shift levers for each gear. Haven't seen one in years. Cool. Nice ride
