The problem would be the lower chamber. While you could separate one piston from the next, how would you separate 2 pistons on opposite banks? But there's ways to solve that, like instead of using the lower part of the cylinder to create pressure, use a positive displacement supercharger

The presentation of builds in this channel reminds me of the Primitive Technology channel where the creator doesn't talk at all. But that channel uses the subtitles to provide some background on what is happening in a scene. I think that idea would work well for this channel too. The builds are really intricate and I'd like to know a bit more about what is happening through the build.
Converted to an opposed piston two stroke. Simply amazing! There are guys out here with FAR better tools and no mean level of skill who could never do a project like this. One of the things I enjoy about channels like yours is the can-do attitude. You guys just make it happen! Well done!
Always amazed at your fabrication skills. Looking forward to seeing it run.
The compressor conversions were cool. This is next level.
Your expertise in building something out of just a few bits and pieces is amazing and your sparts department is impressive carn't wait to see this impressive piece of workmanship running. Absolutely Amazing.....

Yea this is the man to have on your wing during the upcoming apocalypse for sure......👌👍👌
Don’t leave me hanging! You built a monster. Is it alive?
It reminds me of the Fairbanks-Morse Diesel Engine for big ships. It's also oposed pistons.
Maybe make an oil tube to the other crankcase. Great job though . Chrysler made a TS3, and there was the junkers back in World War II. Recently, Cummins joined Achates and made a 2200 hp diesel two-stroke. Not available to the public though . Military applications only . Keep up the good work - there’s also a variation where you can connect with a third opposing engine connected to the one you have.
Can't wait for part 2. Your videos are amazing. ✌️from Australia

Great job, looking forward to part 2 Thanks for taking the time to make the video and share it.
You just OWNED LeDan with this one. Stepped up your game BIG time! I gotta see this one run!
Dude, you're spectacular, a mechanical engineer couldn't do better, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
So far this is the most unique project you had taken
This has gotta be the coolest channel on KZread, well done keep up the awesome work
Looking forward to seeing it run, TY!
I'm not sure it will run, the exhaust and intake ports are set up for a closed cylinder (normal 2-stroke set up), the opposed piston engines that I've seen that run on gasoline have the ports for intake charge and exhaust release at opposite ends of the cylinder. It will be interesting to see an attempt at starting this engine, but excellent machining, kudos.

He did make the exhaust ports at the bottom of each individual cylinder, and the crank case pressure/ vacuum is connected to eachother in the spot where the timing chain used to go. Just that they use the same reed valve and carburetor

Bugger really wanted to see it run 😂😂😂
My prediction is that the vibration will be greatly reduced. With this design, thermal efficiency should also improves by quite a lot. Bravo!
This guy could probably disassemble and reassemble one of these engines with a blindfold. That would be interesting
This just pure skill to get the engine runs
Excellent build, question, did you use 2 stroke pistons as they have a dimple in the groves to stop the split of the compression rings going across the ports
I like how anything is torqued: just the ugga dugga machine spec and that's it! 😂
FANTASTIC EFFORT! But, I can see a few problems... -- (1) WHERE IS THE SUPERCHARGER? In normal 4-stroke engines this is used to make more power, but for an O-P engine, no supercharger means it wouldn't run at all! In O-P engines the exhaust ports are uncovered first which allows most of the exhaust gases to escape, but when the intake port is uncovered the cylinders are still at atmospheric pressure or higher. If the intake is not at higher than atmospheric pressure nothing will go into the cylinders as there is no intake stroke draw it in. The intake has to be at higher pressure than the exhaust to push it out and replace it with the intake charge. -- (2) Related to (1) is the issue of throttling. How do you plan on throttling your engine given the constant positive pressure requirement? Most O-P engines -- from the Jumo 204 to the FM 38 D8 1/2 to the recent Archates and Cummins ACES -- are DIESEL engines, so they don't have this problem. Diesels run at Wide Open Throttle all the time, they simply meter more or less fuel and run lean on lower power settings. -- Another nuance... O-P engines typically have the output crank shaft running about 10~15 degrees ahead of the follower crank. That is the crank connected to the transmission needs to run ahead of the follower crank and it actually carries 80% or more of the torque. In fact the follower can be driven by chain if you want -- it doesn't carry that much load.
Not the kind of opposed twin I was thinking of when I read the title 😅 Amazing work! Look forward to part 2!!👍

nice bro, nakakabitin naman!!
Iba talaga ang galing ng Pinoy
You need to add a carburetor to the other side too (at least a small amount off oil to lubricate the crank and piston) , 2 stroke need's to have the bearings lubricated by the fuel/oil. the oil from one won't reach the other crank and will ruin the half that's not being lubricated..
You are the god of engines😮😮😮
U are crazy man !!!
NEXT UP? How about a pair of vertical-shaft Briggs-style flatheads, joined with deck plates. The plates have to be bolted on with countersunk allen head bolts and pinned, so the spark plug hole(s) threads stay aligned. (If the plug(s) are centered in the parting line.) Then the plates are bolted together around the periphery, that's made bigger than the barrels. The valves of one engine could be directly over the bore of the other engine. So it becomes an opposed piston overhead valve 4-stroke. Could have high-compression and excellent breathing, plus some of the advantage of opposed-piston.
mind blowing

If that motor was made out of cast aluminum then you have some very good welding skills.
1. Opposed-piston engines only make sense if the full cubic power is used. 2. The outlet must be opposite each other and must open and close earlier. 3. Two-stroke engines as opposed-piston engines have the ignition on each piston center. 4. Two-strokes require large pistons over small pistons as a pre-compression space. 5. From 4. it follows: Only the piston + cylinder combination effective without 2-stroke disadvantages. 6. Very high efficiency due to better cylinder filling and combustion.
Awesome project 👏👏 brother 👍👍 🎉🎉🎉
You have a big brain
Hol up. This is mind blowing.
