Hey everyone, my name is Octorious and in this PlayStation 5 accessories video, I thoroughly test the PlayStation Portal at different distances away from the PS5 on both mobile data & hotel wifi. I put it through its paces on several singleplayer games such as Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Astro's Playroom, God of War Ragnarök and more, all complete with latency tests! If you've been wondering if the PS Portal works well away from home and whether it's worth taking with you on your trips, then this video will answer that question for you. I also give my PlayStation Portal impressions & PS Portal long term review; is this really viable as a portable PS5? What do you think? I hope you enjoy the video!

    have had my portal since launch genuinely love it 🙏🏻, it does have some issues in certain instances depending on setting but I love it mostly cause of my love for PS and PS games so to be able to theoretically play them anywhere was always going to be W for me in terms of a portable quote unquote "portable" 😅 Cant wait to see how it performs on an actual vacation not just on a downtown commute.

    I did a trip from LA to NC just now. Had to decide what portable to bring (have Portal, Steamdeck, Switch). Went with the Switch because of it's smaller size than the others. Also, found a cool thing that it actually fits nicely on the mini-tray on the back of the airline seat (Boeing and Airbus 737). This helped remove neck strain as I just separated the controllers from the Switch. It would be cool to know if the Portal would fit, but then would need separate controller too.

  • @Octorious

    @Octorious

    Ай бұрын

    The Switch is definitely excellent for being portable, especially with the kickstand in that scenario. With the portal, I think you'd probably sort of just be resting your hands on the tray, but there'd be no resting it on it and using a separate controller. Thanks for watching! 😊

    @@Octorious The planes now have an additional cell phone style tray above the normal table so that no kick stand is needed, so I'm wondering if the Portal would fit there too. Thank you for the video!

    time to continue the trend... sigma. on a mkre serious note would you recommend the portal for a long plane flight? I'm doing an 11 hour flight in the summer and although it does work in the air how well does it actually preform is the question?

  • @Octorious

    @Octorious

    Ай бұрын

    Hhahaa thank you for the actual comment in addition to the trend 😂 As I mentioned in the video, I wasn't able to actually test this for myself in the air so really can't say for certain, but if the wifi speed is consistent then I would have thought you'd be okay. If possible, I'd advise packing it into your carry-on (as I'm sure you'd benefit with having it wherever you are flying to anyway), and then do a speed test using the speedtest.net site and also look at the ping. If speeds and ping seems to be consistent with ping below 200 and speeds above 15mbps up and down, then you should be able to play singleplayer games just fine so get the portal out and give it a shot. If not though, just leave it in the carry-on. Hope you enjoy your flight :D
