Feeling kind'a sorry for Logi as I do appreciate them for some of their product offerings, but after watching this video and not being able to come up in my head with one single argument to contest any of the reasoning being exposed here, it is even more painful. You're undoubtedly right in sharing your frustration and disappointment, especially after having spent $180 US plus tax for this. And then the claims; and then the press release; and then the PRO part; and then the inability to mod it; and then... oh boy. Please tell me you did not pay for this out of your own pocket. @@strayiggytv Tbh the "nameless chinese products" pretty much caught up with the big boys now when it comes to the mice. And they evolve much much faster than the dinosaurs like Logitech and Razer. Logitech released GPX2 with a big fanfare recently, and it's basically just a GPX1 copy with USB-C and 2000MHz polling rate. And they spent years making it. Brands like Lamzu, Pulsar, Vaxee and others are releasing tons of great mice frequently, around half the price, full of latest tech, 8000MHz sensors, optical switches and encoders, super light weight, hot swappable switches etc. Logitech is living off their past fame, but they aren't the inovators in the mouse market anymore either.

Professional typist here, aka a programmer since the 1980's. Logitech keyboards are excellent, and of the dozens of keyboards I've used over the years, every generation has a Logitech keyboard that I prefer. My current favorite is a K400+, and I have an identical replacement for when that dies I bought for $9 at an Amazon bin store. Yep, I used IBM mechanical keyboards when I was a little kid. Hate 'em. For most programmers with many years in the field a silent no frills keyboard is ideal because in its genericness you can go over to your laptop and change nothing. Then to your tablet with its keyboard. Sameness, predictability, and no change of feel is what pros want. Also the least amount of pressure that works. 40 years of touch typing is hard on your hands, and my muscles can get sore. You can crave a keyboard that costs more than $100 but you're paying more money for something worse, maybe without realizing it.
I would literally pay an extra $100 for Logi's lightspeed wireless technology on a decent keyboard. Yes, I'd pay the extra $100 for Lightspeed tech in my Air75 V2. I just wish they would put it in a customizable keyboard. Or even a good closed ecosystem keyboard.

So the really cool thing about Logitech software, is that the new control panel doesn't support older devices, which means you need to have the old Logitech control panel installed for those devices. Sounds like a minor inconvenience? Well, you can't have both installed at the same time. You get to choose either the newer devices, *or* the old ones. So if you have an old racing wheel and a new mouse, you're SOL.
A few months ago I bought a CoolerMaster SK622 60% keyboard, as I wanted to have a teeny mechanical keyboard to bring along to LAN parties and such. Considering I just needed WASD+Space for 90% of the games I played, it's done the job quite nice. While I was watching this video, I was comparing the Logitech to my CoolerMaster, and the only thing I envied was the carrying case and the volume slider on the side. Everything else was leaps and bounds better than the Logitech, and my CoolerMaster only cost $90 USD (But I got it on sale for $59)
The issue with a big company doing mechanical keyboards that are good enough for enthusiast is repair/replacement costs. The “standard” hot swap system is great, but it is something that is hard to “automate” to mass produce and they are prone to ma factoring errors where the socket is not 100% aligned and so they pop off when the user installs a switch….meaning they face a choice to either have a generous refund policy or to have angry customers. It just makes sense to try to come up with a “new and innovative” switch system. What I’m getting at…they just won’t be able to make something that is cheap enough to hit the “mass market” represented by people who want a good keyboard for gaming but has the quality expected by a keyboard enthusiast.

Speaking of the wooting you should revisit it with the Hall Effect jades you can buy separately now. They sound incredible. You can literally also buy just the PCB and use your own switches for wooting, your own case, and everything. It’s standard 60 percent layout. There’s literally no reason not to run one now if you’re a keyboard enthusiast and a gamer. With the numerous HE switches that are now out, you can find one with a good sound signature, do all the class keeb mods you normally do, with relative ease. Plus their software is better than anything else rn. Literally nothing but wins.
That reminds me - Has Hipyo tried the Coolermaster Masterkey keyboards yet? Had a secondhand one for a few years now - I've modded it to have a USB-C cable and now I've moved over to using Keycron keycaps... and I wish I'd moved over to the keycron much MUCH sooner. They feel so much nicer, sound better (they've killed the 'ping' it used to have completely). That and I'm enjoying how much closer the tops of the keycaps are. But - all of this was done for about a quarter the price of the Logitech (it even has macro settings).

I was born in 2002 & I've always known Logitech as a controller company. For whatever reason they decided to trash their iconic logo & copycat Google's logo. As for the key count, I don't like it. Sure it makes the keyboard less intrusive, but that's what controllers are for. If I'm going to game with a keyboard & mouse I want the maximum amount of keys so I have more keys to map. Minimizing the number of keys also limits other stuff. On top of that, a lack of F keys is a problem for Minecraft.

Other options are a bit limited that way if you need that layout for professional reasons). It is cheaper than a new G815, fully customizable, and has a way better typing experience than any other Logitech keyboard I ever had. I personally even find the lighting effects a lot better than on the Logitech G keyboards. I'll never look back again.
I have a question I have a logitech keyboard (not the one i am typing with) it might have had something heavy on it while transorting and now when i press a key it presses like 10 different keys at once. Especially the caps lock is the hardware destroyed or is this something i can fix?
Try the Razer Basilisk V3. It has an infinite scroll wheel, but you can click a button just below it to switch to clicky scrolling. I know some Logitech have that too, but I use middle click all the time, so I can't stand the type that switches scroll modes with middle click. My favorite part though is that it has a smart mode where the scroll wheel is clicky until you try to scroll extra fast and then it automatically switches to infinite scroll until you stop it or it loses momentum, then it goes back to clicky. So nice, especially for like video editing and scrolling through long pages.

The Logitech switches on and off infinite scroll the *exact* same way.

@@musicman24X It has the smart scroll though? I know it has the button. I hadn't seen any other mouse had the smart scroll feature.

@@musicman24X I looked it up and the G502 mice don't have it. Logitech calls it SmartShift and apparently it's only on their MX Master mouse. I'm glad it uses a button to shift between modes instead of middle click. It was just some older Logitech mice I knew did that. The smart shifting is so good though.

@@Artistikk Good to know. The G502 referenced in the video does not.
I'm curious to see what you think of the HyperX Alloy Rise, its their first "hot swap" keyboard that they released, and haven't seen any proper reviews of its customizability.
Funny that the sample photo of a college is where I'm literally working right now - but in a different building. Davidson College.
What was the 2nd keyboard that you showed Josie? It looks like a Monsgeek with 2 columns of navigation keys.
I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the g502 and the g502x redesign
The Infinite Scroll wheel is why I got the G500, the G502 improved the infinite scroll as well as the tilt actuators which is why I will use it until it falls apart. HE is butter.
may i have ur recomendation if i looking for creamiest switches, which one i should look further ?
@HipyoTech I know you're probably not going to see this but I was wondering if you could give me some advise on a keyboard. ive been using the one I have now for quite a while and wanted to get a new one. Do you have any advice or tips that could help? P.S. I have experience with modding keyboards.
Hipyo! Can you please make a video on rating foldable keyboards, good mechanical keyboards to travel with and traveling cases?
I built a custom keyboard for my client for 70$ and it's much better, than this Logitech...
As someone who bought the G910 tkl wireless - and loved it - having since then delved deeper into the custom keybaord era and areas - I have seen the glaring disparity on quality that logitech has taken. The rattley keycaps - when I got it i was placebo'd into it because of the price I was paying and the combo that I got. I have since moved on from it (which i feel really ashamed to admit because I did love the keyboard initially, the low profile keys, wireless that never failed and the layout and tactile style of it) and then - Ive found myself ive bought 4 boards since, a mix of custom and prebuilt with different styles etc (switches, build material etc) PS - wish I had kept my previous boards for your Boardwalk - traded them into my local cash converters cus i needed stuff to fund - oh well there go the Steelseries and Corsair keyboards I had laying around as 'spares' hehheh..ahhaah...hahaha...spares....keybaords...hahahah
Would you like to review a Dygma Defy ? I just got one and iterested in your opinion
You set your expectations a little high when reviewing a $170 keyboard.
This reminds me of my current keyboard of the last six years or so, the Logitech Orion G610. I always liked the black and white colour scheme and the white lights as well as the sound scroll, which I believe is a early implementation of the know. The caps are wobbly, the space bar is just horrendous and it's all fairly loud and I don't know I could mod it safely. It doesn't seem like they learned at all from the G610. I am going to probably just pick up the Montech MKey and call it a day.
Where is the link of the Logitech video designing it with pro’s?
What was the other keyboard you gave josie for comparison? Sounds hella nice.

funny in the end you also scrolled and went to Keychron hahah.. btw i have way more expensive boards and i still like my Keychron Q1 modded of course but it's my fun mod board.
11:41 That sound effect (which can be barely heard) in the background is from Stardew Valley. Are you enjoying the 1.6 update, Hipyo?
I've tried optical switches and currently use them on my daily driver (Hunstman Tournament Edition), but they took so much getting used to. Took me a few months to really get used to the actuation points especially since it actuates BEFORE the click... it doesn't have the same forced feedback as your standard set. However I think some of these companies are marketing optical as 'gamer' due to how highly sensitive they can end up being, and that is such a bad reason to give it the 'gamer' tag. It kind of makes the keyboard harder to really use (esp if you need to smash a key) until you get used to the very sensitive and rather high actuation point (it's way further up then you'd think so spamming the key like a normal switch does nothing as it thinks you've still depressed the key). I can only assume this has similar flaws, and pair that with the price tag and cheap materials? Yikes.... I think mine was closer to $80 at the time. I can see why everyone is calling it a scam. Logitech really messed up here. Not to mention proprietary switches for that cost? Insane.

Throw in the rgb as it seems that's all you need for a 'gamer' keyboard.
Nice Focal headphones! :)
hello hipyo! can you give a review on the ROG Falchion RX Low Profile would like to see what you can say about that
So i have to ask, did you return it after the review? since no mod required LOL.
did you review the aulfa f75? cant find it on the channel
the lightspeed software for the G502 kinda sucks if you try to customize the settings any - when you begin moving the mouse it uses windows' mouse settings for a second or so before the mouse "wakes" and the software overwrites the settings. You supposedly can fix this by turning on "onboard memory" but it doesn't seem to work.
The g502 x plus lightspeed is my favorite mouse of all time, which of course it is because the g502 x and normal g502 were my favs b4 it. It makes playing games that require tons of keys like Destiny 2 SOOO much better. That infinite scroll wheel is great as well.

I returned my G502X Plus, absolute downgrade from the OG G 502 LS. Switches were awful sounding very hollow and the pinging was on another level, palm grippers will hate it because they didn't bother to taper the sharp angles where your palm sits and the scroll wheel is worse. On one hand, it is noticeably lighter I just bought another g502lightspeed instead. It'll last another 5 years, hopefully Logi will come back with something good by then. Been using their mice since G5 days.
What keyboard would you recommend for gaming for 100$? I like to have my function keys and numpad as I also use excel a lot.
I'm surprised you haven't replaced the switches or skates on that G502.
anything "gaming" increases the price automatically 75%. adding "pro" increases it another 50%. wireless is +10%. this keyboard should only really be like $50.
The kendrick lamar verse cutaway was great lmao. Fun fact, kendrick lamar's disses are copyright free
You made a typo in 1:20 with the word completely… was that because of the Logitech keyboard too?
Suddenly feeling very good about the "Rii" keyboard i got for £40 on amazon. Actually came with a keycap and a switch puller and a couple of spare switches as those are socketed too.
Hipyo having Kendrick transitions was not something I had on my bingo card
Hey hipyo are you thoughts on gateron silvers
Would like to point out that the keyboard case is cheap trash that you can buy premade with customized logos for about 1000 buckaroonies for 100 pieces or there about. You essentially start with a flat sandwich that gets heat formed, to which then they either glue or use a shoe type sewing machine to sew on the zipper. The whole op is less than 5 minutes per case and can be done with stuff you have at home you so desire.
Probably designed years ago and then they sat on it, thinking they can release it when the TKL sales slowed down too much, i mean on amazon its listed alongside the TKL as a variant, which also means it benefits from the TKL's positive reviews.
Royal Kludge made the RK61 how many years ago? Easy choice.
