A word of warning: I would be very careful about plate replacement, the stock plate is stainless steel for a reason. It needs to be stiff so that the distance between the switches and the sensors on the PCB doesn't change

Bs. I‘ve been running a alu plate for over 6 months and had no issues with 0.1mm activation and 0.1mm rapid trigger. FR4 is very similar and should work as well. Brass is stiffer, no problem either. You just don’t know what you are talking about.

@@benjaminhavens7266 I doubt it. The wooting has a very thick pcb and as long as the switches stay in contact with it there shouldn't be a problem. Wooting ran into problems, because they picked a too thin pcb before. Maybe I will run a super flexi plate at some point just to prove that.

I’ve owned this keyboard for about 4 months now and it’s incredible. I program on it more than I game and it just makes me feel like a proper dork. Very satisfying to type on.

Great and funny video ❤ Idea for the next stock keyboard mod: Gluing a rubber sheet cutout to the bottom of the steel plate to dampen the sound and resonance. I did this on a Redragon plate and it was really tedious but the end result sounded great even with the stock Outemu switches (which I lubed). So it's definitely an option instead of switching out the plate.

Btw replacing the plate is likely a bad idea, the switches have to be at the perfect position to the pcb for the actuations to be accurate

It sounded very cool actually, the wood really came through and had a really satifying thunk to it rather than a thock.

Honestly I think a lot of people in the niche keyboard modding scene try to achieve a very specific sound, which is usually something close to a smooth and silent keystroke with the only tactile and auditory feedback coming from the cap bottoming out, though there's a lot more to it than that. But it isn't really a better sound in any regard, it's more that getting that sound requires going through the insane amount of effort to get there which makes the end result feel more satisfying.

The Zibra stripes are called rays, cellular structure of the tree, very pronounced and cool in that board.

Actually prefer the before sound lol. I prefer the higher pitch, it has more high frequency in it :) Then again as a mixing engineer I like my high snares :P Both sound amazing though for me.

For the amount of mods I've seen Hipyo do, I have never once seen him put o-rings or other dampeners on the keycaps

I had similar issues with housing not staying fully closed after lubing and then semi opening when installing back...

Would you be willing to test out the Alienware AW920K? I can’t find any reviews or in-depth info about this keyboard

Quick question, is it bad to lube the lekker switches and stabilizers on the Wooting? Some guy that owns a mechanical keyboard shop said the additional lube will mess with the lube that it came with from the factory and will affect the lekker switches making them not perform. Is he right? Why would Wooting sell lube marketed towards it? Any advice would be much appreciated
