Hi guys! Next time you buy jajan pasar, you don't want to throw away the "biting", the tooth pick like small stick that seal the banana leaf wrapper because it is supposed to be your fork to pick the food. Jajan pasar (jajan means snack, pasar means market) consist of many kind of sweet made of rice flower, sticky rice, and some local potatoes such as sweet potatoes and casava. Shreded coconut is used for filling and topping, beside palm sugar syrup. Next time you can ask for "campur" or mix so you get pieces of everything in one package. Lupis basically is sticky rice, wrapped in banana leaves and cooked for hours. Served with coconut and palm sugar syrup. Cenil is made of plain tapioca (casava starch), also served with coconut and palm sugar syrup to give taste. Have a nice trip!

Wow,you in jogja already..this city very well known for its javanese culture, College students lifestyle,nice and kindhearted people and cheap foods. If you already in there why not go to House of Raminten, try Bakpia Pathuk 25, or try find interesting craft at Mirota Batik..you could do a lot in Jogja and it is not always about Borobudur,temple etc (in case they are still closed)..

Every tourist attraction was closed when I was there due to PPKM ☹️ so I will need to visit these things when I am back some day 🙂

@@isabelleandflo not really.. Occasionally there will be sunshines, but the weather really change so fast. Humid a.k.a. sweat will be your bestfriends when it's not raining. Oh, you're coming to Mt. Bromo? Just a heads up, bring your thick jacket over there. Often times in Mt. Bromo, you will feel warm (just like morning sunshines in around 10-11 am) because it really cold. And avoid bathroom/water at nights (after 8pm).

@@isabelleandflo FYI again, almost every traditional market in Jogja sell that traditional snacks such as lupis & cenil 👍 almost all Javanese traditional snacks using the coconut & brown sugar 👍

Actually executive class isnt the highest class in Indonesian Train. Even for executive class has so many variation price from 120k - 1.000k depends of route, train etc.

Just went to see her a few days ago to try the Jajan pasar. The lupis was good but for the other one you mentioned I think you ordered the wrong thing. The other one locals like to order is called campuran which means mixed. And that’s what I ordered and she grabs a little from everything on the table. I hope that might some ppl wanting to order. And it still costs 10k. But she doesn’t get there till 5:30am, at least that was the case the 2 times I went.

Yeah..so sorry u can’t entered Prambanan, maybe also Borobudur Temple, I see u travel to Jogya in 12 Sept, and that time Jogya still in PPKM level 3 and so many tourist spot still closed at that time. Come back and try when all Jogya tourist spot open will u? 🙏

Some people may not appreciate how the grandma seller handles the jajan with her hands but for us local, we really appreciate her for preparing the food for years and those hands for sure are older than the buyers 🤗

@@isabelleandflo So many times i had friends came here and they bothered about how people here treated their domesticated birds in a cage. They were mad because of it. I said, look, the birds are treated very well and feed very well also. I understand how your people enjoying the birds by just watching it in the wood. And they said, but those birds are still in a cage, they need their freedom. Ok i said, when you go back to your country, ask all the zoo keeper in your country to unleash all the animals there if you still think that animal also need their freedom. What hypocrite those whity are.

It's fine for the experience but, with all due respect to her, I would've suggested not to buy her food. Jajan Pasar literally translates to market street food, you can get them from elsewhere. If you're a tourist in Yogyakarta, then the first priority would be to visit the temples, the old buildings, like Taman Sari, and the museums. The second priority would be the Batik store and workshop. Then the third one maybe food. However, buy the traditional foods that locals actually eat. Otherwise, your experience of Indonesian foods are very misaligned with the reality. We preserve some traditional foods since it's our culture, but we don't actually eat it on a daily basis, so they're more of a delicacy made for souvenirs, gifts, or special occasion.

@@isabelleandflo Yeah, I think some places were open for a while during COVID but then cases rose again. Things are starting to get better though and there are even plans to build better infrastructures at Komodo Island and its surroundings, so I hope it won't be long before things are open again.

@@isabelleandflo Yes, they are traditional but we, at least me and people I know, don't really go out of our way to buy them anymore, we might get them at a special occasion or when someone just had the urge to buy or make them. Even then, what I get the most were risol, lemper, kue lapis, wajik, dadar gulung or gemblong. Also the way she sells and made hers adds to them being delicacies. When I was a kid, people sell them in plastics ready to be sold and at a stand, and I doubt things reverted to banana leaves. Buying from her and thinking it's the norm is like if KFC opened in an antique building and we eat there once but say "KFC is a classy restaurant".

Unfortunately, Prambanan temple is a secured heritage. You need a pilot license to fly the drone there.
