I freaking love this game. I'm an illustrator and had work last weekend, but my wife bought me this on Friday and I spent my entire weekend playing (because I'm weak and have no self control) and now I'm a few days behind one work and ... I still wanna go home and play more lol.

The art direction is UNREAL!

Excited to play this, the change in gameplay, this "NEW" take on Rpg and matched with their Art style makes this game seem really unique.

Gives me old school God Of War vibes with the overhead camera.

Dude 100% it bothers me that we only have like one good pirate game. You’d think there would even be more pirate movies/tv shows… at least we got POTC which the first one imo is one of the best adventure films out there. Also check out black sails if you haven’t, it’s so good.

I think Sea of Thieves had become very good nowadays. Me and my friends are having a lot of fun with it. By now they have a ton of content in the game (including a 6+ hour long Pirates of The Carribean storyline with really high production value, and a 6+ hour long Monkey Island storyline that's also pretty great)

The controls are going to be what make this game sink or swim. I really hope they figure it out because right now the "smart" controls and not allowing us to rebind and set 1 button for 1 action is nearly unplayable for me. So much potential so I really hope they step up and make the game as playable as it is beautiful.

How is it unplayable? I literally got used to the controls after a couple of hours. Yes dodge on A sucks but it works out because of how easy it is to attack.

Played a total of 6hrs so far. Love it. Tired of the damn review bombing for a game that is clearly in EARLY ACCESS and it’s still better than a lot of AAA games recently.

I’m running this with a 3070 at 1440p balanced & I’m getting a pretty good 60fps. I’ve seen games with FAR WORSE optimisation at full release so for $35 I don’t know why it’s getting mixed reviews. It truly is one of prettiest games I’ve ever seen, intriguing story well told, dense world & challenging too. Won’t lie, I pelted that 1st boss with 8 bombs, that aren’t expensive to buy, so if you get stuck it’s more forgiving than DS. It reminds me of what you’d get if Fable & Dark Souls had a love child. Mixed reviews are harsh, it deserves better especially when EAccess is taken into account. Virtually every other early access game has run worse than this & had less content.

What does this EA build include?? How long is this game now? Does it have an end game? The devs said 15-25 hours, which sounds a lot, but if its 25 hours of going back and forth doing nothing, or collecting some stupid stuff from nooks and platforms forever, than that's not fun 25 hours of content. Thats 25 hours of busywork. So im super curious to know what this game contains in this build

Man, I was waiting all morning for a video about this game, from anyone and wouldn’t you know it, The Dinger saves the day.

The game looks great. Sadly it will take 1-3 years for the full release. I understand why companies do early-access, but personally I'm sick and tired of every non-AAA game being EA these days.

To be honest, I completely forgot that this game, which I have on my wishlist, was coming out this week. Thanks for the reminder and insight as well, definitely got to check it out.

Most AAA released games are now a work in progress. Only reaching the full potential many years later.

Even if games were using this as a way of updating AAA titles with those speeds back then it would of taken 8 yrs to update something. Games were released complete. There was no 15 patches etc. If gamers standards are too high, then games companies need to pull there fingers out. Why would expectations be so high if they were never to be met. Regardless of the time AAA titles were still AAA, Even if now we look back and think.. omg that looks atrocious, when it released it was the best looking thing ever created. I started on an amstrad, game boy, Nintendo, snes, mega drive, game gear, ps 1,2,3,4,5.. I'd only say it's since 3/4 on the ps era that this has become the norm. Sad fact is games companies will keep selling alpha/beta wip titles because sadly people have more money than sense and far too much free time. Many are essentially paying to be testers.

@@Cobblers1982 My first console was ColecoVision. Games were never released "complete" in my experience, they were released when they were "done" since patching a game was impossible. The definition of "done" has just been changed thanks to the prevalence of the internet, and gaming becoming corporate. Now devs can push out the game to meet the ridiculous release windows set by idiots and suits, and satisfy the impatient bitter little children that gamers have become. By all means, call out a game when it's broken and unplayable. But people shouldn't be sending death threats to developers because it doesn't run at 240 FPS on their barely held-together toaster of a PC. Even when a game is well-made, performs perfectly on every platform, and would make you a grilled cheese sandwich or something, gamers would somehow find something to bitch about. The gaming industry has changed, and gamers changed with it. From a bunch of fun-seeking enthusiasts to nothing more than toxic little consumers. Being a game developer was once my dream career, now I feel like a dodged a radioactive bullet by deciding not to pursue it.

Super fun and addicting game. At first I kept getting a staff as my first weapon which definitely seems like one of the trickier/weaker weapons for a newbie so I was having a rough time. But after they patched in some changes to early weapon/armor drops I've had a much better time. So much to explore and do and the art style is so amazing.

Early access ... wake me up when it's not anymore.

I like early access it allows developers to interact with the people playing their game to make a better game. Some studios abuse it sure but this game seems to be in pretty good shape at least for me.

Runs fine at 1080p, i5-13500, nvidia 2060. I haven't noticed any performance issues, but I haven't changed any settings, running whatever it decided when I launched it. Oh, and it is a lot fun. Art direction is incredible, story interesting so far, characters cool, loot getting interesting as I gain levels, etc. Good game that will only get better. Only negative so far? Fall damage is the most dangerous opponent in the game.

Played 5 hours and getting serious dark souls 1 vibes in a good way. This game is a lot of fun, and I love the art style and the world. The animations are beautiful, and combat is very fluid and smooth.

Personally I loved the interconnected areas, falling down from somewhere and recognising that area is a great feeling, hope there are shortcuts between different regions as well.

This game is amazing.. one tip for new players.. don’t get too attached to a weapon right away, save some stat points and hyper focus stamina. If you don’t have good stamina you are going to die a lot, you will still die a lot lol.. Also go to the WAR room once you get to sacrament, and fight that mini boss challenge and fight and fight.. It will help you get use to how to time and fight. It look me 2 hours to beat him which felt like I wasted time.. but then I went out into the world and was so ready for the pace and movement of the game.. there is an adjustment period even for veteran souls players.. which I am. OVERALL. THIS GAME IS VERY FUN and most will enjoy the deep rich lore they seem to be building!

I really hope this game does something new and different. I love these developers.

Once I got off the boat I was getting around 50-90 frames on max settings with a rtx 3060 but when I was gaming it was hardly noticeable majority of the time.

I'm absolutely loving this game, performance issues aside I'm having a blast and struggle to find anything I don't like about the game.

The gameplay interested me. The art direction and visuals blew my mind!

Really enjoying it. Love souls-like games, love arpgs like PoE, and love mmo games. This game has the combat of a soulslike, the prefix, affixes, rarities of PoE, and craft/gathering of mmos. Gone through the first and second zone several times just to gather and fight things to upgrade the town and player housing.

I mean come on, it's not really an "unreasonable" complaint, saying the performance is poor or inconsistent is valid if it's an accurate accounting of the product, regardless of it being "early access" or not. It's completely fair for people to review positively and negatively of what they are literally paying for based on what the state of that thing is currently

7:41 I had this EXACT moment last night with Remnant 2, re-rolled the campaign got to the Labrynth Cube Boss and after 20 or more times of dying... I realised I was punishing myself for no reason at all and I went to adventure mode 😂

Game looks badass. Definitely going to support since the Ori games were great.

Luke you seem to have a talent for sabotaging yourself. I was fighting that first boss at about sub 20fps, tweaked some settings out of the game and fixed it. Took me about three tries on a one handed sword.

@@lewissharpe4695 Omen has a game booster that shuts down some background processes, that helped a lot. I had my memory page file size set too high, which disrupted how my ram allocated space (I think). And now I'm at a point where tweaking resolution doesn't effect frames. It's really goddamn weird. I now only get slowdown when physics kick in (breaking barrels/boxes), or the screen gets littered with effects.

The game looks visually stunning... i hope they optimize it and fix that auto lock on situation

What gaming rig do you have, Luke?

It is early access, so more tweaking will almost certainly happen, also, you can probably turn down a lot without losing much in graphical wonder but gaining quite a bit in FPS too, let alone with more tweaking. But most of all, how does it play, it's a style of game we have not seen much, and it has a great art style, a bit more like Dishonered. I like it so far.

Looks absolutely stunning. Can't wait.

This game is fantastic. I’ve played a lot of different souls-likes and this one definitely stands out. The striking visuals and the fluid combat are extremely satisfying. On top of all of that, it seems these devs are putting in 40 hr days cuz they’ve been patching this game non-stop since release. I think this game has so much potential and I only wish the best for Moon Studios.

I’m hearing different things about this game I want to play it but people say not to in its current state. I really love this art style and might just get it regardless of what people say

Water simulation is also an easy way to turn PCs into coal. Altho it got better in the last 10 years.

~5 hours in myself. Game definitely needs some polish on both gameplay and optimization, but seems like a really solid start. Not sure what level Luke was when he fought the boss, but managed to get it first try (barely) running sword and board around level 3 or 4.

Wouldnt a pro-gamer have noticed the game giving you a prompt to"eat"at the top left on the right of the health bar when his health was low?

man I hope this get to ps5 cause it looks awesome. I love games with that camera view, I recently played the ascent and death's door and I just want more. wanna try tunic too

03:10 - I have an RTX 3090 Suprim X and an AMD 7800X3D. And with everything maxed out and in 4k resolution the game runs at a solid 60 fps absolutely everywhere, inside, outside, on the ship, on the island, during combat, etc. Either the game has a 4000 series problem, or the RTX 4080 GPU user mentioned in the video has other problems in his rig. Most likely the CPU is overheating, since he mentioned his CPU is sitting at 100%...and it starts throttling heavily to lower temp, crawling to a much slower frequency... With the recent problems 13th and 14th gen Intel CPU owners are facing in games (crashes, high power draws, etc), I'm wouldn't be surprised... But it may even be software related (faulty drivers, other software etc)... I encountered 0 (zero) performance issues in the first 2 hours I've played until now. Not saying someone with an older rig won't encounter problems. But a 4080 + I9 13900K not running this game smoothly at 1440p, not even 4k, is certainly not normal.

Not realistic. Not every kind of game lends itself to this. Even FromSoft doesn't do Early Access, and their games lend themselves to Early Access formulas.

I have an i5 12.6k with a 4070 and it runs very well appart from intense weather zones for a couple of seconds only

Really didn’t keep count how many times for warrick but I left the boss to explore came back tried a little more and was curious if the vendor sold anything like fire bomb and he did. First try beat him with bombs and great sword

I love the studio and look forward for it.

Oh wow I played this game last night and so many things are different already from you playing… also I didn’t know the game was random loot as I hit a full set a heavy armor in the beach area and two daggers not a great sword

Performance on my machine is pretty bad and I have a medium powered computer. It does need more time to cook, hence the Early Access. I’m sure they’ll fix it up by 1.0

I don't mind a game launching in early acces, but i'm a bit afraid of said games never getting OUT of early access. There's been a couple of games I've been following that have been in Early Access for 5 years or more and the updates are really starting to dwindle, making me think they'll never get finished > I like this game's concept and hope it will be fun to play and do well!

This game looks RIGHT up my alley….but straight up, I CANNOT seem to get over those ATROCIOUS body proportions 😮‍💨🤷🏼‍♂️😤 The rest of the art looks pretty SICK, to be fair. WTF happened when it came down to the Popeye forearms and Thunder Thigh Betty over there!!?!

On top of that, I am so SICK & TIRED of “Early Access” for video games. When it’s done right, by a trustworthy studio like Larian , then ofc it can be used to optimize and make the BEST game for the players that actually are going to play it. But for every Larian , you have multiple Blizzard style developers that ABUSE the Early Access tag, outright. At the end of the the day, the ends just don’t seem to justify the means anymore. One could say that these companies also engage in these practices to escape having to pay and allocate time for play testers and actual QA 😮‍💨😤

I've played for a few hours. Initial impressions are that the art and visual style is super unique. Combat left me feeling meh. Durability and inventory space just feels old and played out imho. I hope they spend some time focusing on combat. The exploration and verticality are on point. 12900K 4090 native 4k and didn't have too many problems. Some slight hitching when zones would load.

Hold on. Having one button to run & roll I literally the best thing to do. It's one button to adjust movement in an action game. If a single button religated to a single particular use is difficult to get used to that's kinda a you problem. Should run be one button & roll be another? The controller has but so much space lol

Yeah, I died seven or eight times to Warrick the Torn. I stuck with the greatsword through it, just to "git good", but the fact is... I'm not very good at this. I think the parry window needs to be opened up juuust a tiny bit. At least leave it ajar and don't slam it in my face so hard. Other than that I love it so far. Especially art direction, cutscenes and the weighty feel of the combat. I do hate the very low item durability for tools especially, though. And the game could do with a lot more atmospheric background music. It's a _very_ mute game, outside of combat. Let's see, what they come up with during early access. This is a great first course for me 😊

I love no rest for the wicked. BUT I wish they would've approached the inventory system like Elden Ring. I'm so done with inventory management, limited slots and having to go back and forth between shops and chest irritates the hell out of me. I will never understand why items without weight need to have limited slots and maximum quantities. Games have already solved this by making it so everything in your chests is automatically counted as in your inventory when crafting. I prefer the From Software game but if chests are in the game and you need to take out things from it to use them on the vendor, its just a waste of time, literally does nothing for you as a player, is a boring chore and a waste of time that takes away from the awesome experience they have crafted. I'm a loot goblin and everything I see I want to grab and I'm constantly opening up my inventory to check and remember how many of a certain item I have to see If I have space on the stack, I waste so much time lol. EVERYTHING else about this game is awesome, I wished it was a bit better optimized, I have a lot of casual stutters but the Art style, the voice acting, the combat, the level design. Everything is so good. I just HATE INVENTORY MANAGEMENT. PD: I will say, yes, the context focused camera has gotten me hit a lot of times, Im not used to using lock on so I would prefer if I can just hit to were I am moving to.

How is your 4090 hitting nearly 80c...that's very high for a card with an excessively good cooler on it. Custom fan curve is too low? Could set you back in FPS.

I think he has it vertical mounted, and that doesn’t help cooling. But you know, chips are designed to run in those temps and even higher, so nothing to worry about.

i am just happy to see moon studio is back again with a soulsborne Arpg...And its getting lot of attention. I think there are very few good studio that excels the genre. And moon studio is one of them. i love the game. I am playing it on my 4060ti 8GB i5 14500 32GB ram. And it runs pretty smooth on 1080P like 80 to 60 on quality mode and 70 to 60 on resolution scale to 120%. Might drop to 55 on some places which is understandable on early access. I am sure they're gonna fix performance on final version. I am gonna play the fcuk outta this game when its gonna come out!

My major gripes are the performance, platforming/fall damage, multiple actions on one button, and weapon degradation mechanic. I also wouldn't mind more accessibility options and button remapping. I'm hoping DLSS can help further on top of the game continuously being optimized further to full release. Other than that, wow... Visually, it is one of the best-looking games I have seen. Not in photorealism but in how dynamic the animations and physics are and the top-class art direction. I really like handcrafted content and you can see the love and passion they poured with the environments. Right now, I would tell people to wait, but this has the potential of being something very special!

Great review Luke. This game though is not my cup of tea. This camera view? Looking from far and above? Small sprites ?Its like the 90s. There's nothing better for me to have a game combat and camera like Witcher 3 or Assassin's Creed Odyssey where the combat is very satisfying and look all those details from gears to combat moves.

The thing with pc gaming is there is so many variables. The review that had the 4080 guy could be running it on a dodgy PSU that is struggling to drive the thing which could explain poor performance we just cant know. Just gotta keep that in mind.

Great game, I'm a fan of dark souls. I killed the first boss from the second try, actually I was surprised how fast it was, and probably because I have a 3080.

i've been thinking about getting it, but poor performance plus early access, not the best combination. i've also heard there are daily and weekly quests. i don't have time for live service fomo elements in games that shouldn't have them. i didnt see too many people complaining about them, so i dont think they're that obnoxious, but i'd prefer them to not be there in the first place

If I’m not mistaken, the daily and weekly quests are only there to give the player something else to do while also giving you loot from the existing loot pool.
