♿️I TRIED MY WIFES WHEELCHAIR, AND THIS IS WHAT SHOCKED ME

YEP THATS RIGHT WE ARE BACK FOR ANOTHER WHEELCHAIR CHALLENGE!!! YOU GUYLS LOVED HUSBAND SHOPS IN WIFES WHEELCHAIR, AND WANTED TO SEE MORE. SO THIS TIME I SET SHAUN SOME OF HIS EVERYDAY HOUSE HOLD CHORSE TO DO IN MY WHEELCHAIR.
BY MAKING THIS VIDEO I WANT TO RAIS AWARENESS OF HOW DIFFICULT LIFE IS IN A WHEELCHAIR. AND HOW THE EVERY DAY TASKS TAKE SO MUCH MORE EFFORT, TIME AND ENERGY.
After suffering my spinal cord injury i have really had to adapt in life. So Im showing you my disability lifestyle to raise disability awareness. As a disabled woman and a woman in a wheelchair who is paralysed, I thought it would be interesting for you to see, and hopefully give you some inspiration and motivation so that you can live more independently. wether you are paraplegic or quadriplegic I hope that I can help you. The wheelsnoheels message is “so no one has to feel alone.”
I have lots of interesting disability videos, a lot of videos on how to cope with a disability and living life in a wheelchair, wether you are a girl boy woman or man. i have some paraplegic exercise videos, and advice. its important to keep your fitness levels up as much as possible as this can when physically and mentally with depression.
If you feel I have given you value today consider buying me a ko-fi, just think of it as a tip.

I was passing by a on my way to chemistry class and was early because I take the buss and a professor for the physical therapy program saw me and excitedly brought me before her class. They had a project where students were to spend 24hours in a wheelchair and write about the experience. I ended up showing them transfers from different places and explaining I can move my legs and how not everyone who’s in a wheelchair is fully paralyzed etc. and about my day to day challenges... what I do with hills, if there is no off or on ramp to sidewalk curves what public transit is like from a chair. I was there for about 1/2 an hour Before I went to class. (Bus came once an hour so I was either 40 mins early or 40 mins late) The prof explained her intentions and politely asked if I was willing to help I said yes because I’m passionate about awareness like gen is!!

Once I needed my wheelchair on a regular bases I asked my husband to reorganize our house and to help him and our daughters understand why it was necessary I asked them all 3 to try navigating the house in a spare wheelchair we have(it was a family members). They all three crashed into the walls and door frames and had a heck of a time getting in and out of the bathrooms. But each of them were good sports to give it a try.

When I first got my wheelchair my husband sat in it and went out the front yard to the car. He fell over backwards trying to push on the grass and it made him much more understanding as to why I need help being pushed. I think without trying to get about on wheelchair people are just oblivious to the struggles. Thanks for showing people that!

I think the next challenge for shaun should be to pull up a metre or so of the paving at the front door, spread an inch or two of sand under it and re-lay it to eliminate the low (2"?) step into the porch. Maybe I'm just a 'surely there must be an easier way' kind of guy, but that seems like an easy fix to an unnecessary obstacle.

They will get out of the wheelchair and say. "Wow, i don't see how you do that." Now my father wasn't disabled but by the time he hit age 90 he had converted most of his power tools to light weight electric Makita battery powered ones. I highly recommend them for those who have a hard time with upper body strength you can get more work done before tiring out. A lot of the newer vacuums have gotten lighter weight too. Maybe a handy man challenge for another video?

This was great. Don't your council do the thing called assisted bin lift where if you phone and tell them you're not able to take your bin out, the bin men come and do it for you every week? xx

  • @mydogeatspuke

Very late reply, but generally assisted bin collections (and other services for those with disabilities) are only usually offered if there is no able bodied person available to do it for you. Some councils will specify that you must live alone, but others will expect you to ask a neighbour, carer, friend or family member for help rather than offer a service themselves. My bin men absolutely love leaving the bins in the middle of the garden instead of where they found them like they're supposed to, won't empty them at all if they're half full, and never close the gate behind them, so it's not exactly ideal even when you do get help from them.

Was he sore for a while after doing all this? That fall back that he took kind of triggered me. 😱 lol. I can’t believe he did all that without bike gloves. I think my hands have gotten more sensitive as I’ve aged, It really messes up my hands if I don’t use bike gloves.

I cant physically push myself on grass because of the cerebral palsy I have I have slight arm weakness and my left side is slightly weaker then my right but its only noticeable in certain activities I do or when I'm having a bad day. but there is no way I can push myself on grass or even when the pavement has a slight ramp slight to it, I prefer to push myself road as well. However, when I push myself on the road I'm scared in case I get knocked over by a car.

I love these challenge videos there great to watch I've been wanting my boyfriend to try things to see how it's like doing things with my disabilities, but I don't know where to start with him though because you see it's taller and heavier then me,so he can't fit any of the devices that I've gotta use though to help me get around safely since not only do I've got cerebral palsy, but I'm legally blind too,so with that said I use a coupleto a few different things at the same time for mobility.

I Hoover (vacuum) our house every week (we have 4 dogs). I use a Shop Vac for the hard floors and a Shark Navigator Deluxe upright vacuum on the carpet in the living room. It’s a lot easier now than when I first started doing it as you have to figure out what works and doesn’t work for your abilities. I don’t even attempt changing the bed sheets. Of the challenges Shaun did I would find going across the grass field the most challenging. I have tendinosis and impingements in both shoulders, so I use a SmartDrive. But, the SmartDrive doesn’t work in the grass.

Just incase its not obvious Sean being a physically fit person normally means he could do things like hovering. A wheelchair user may not be able to do it or if they do then that is all of the energy they have gone. Its fantastic that he's giving it ago and finding cool work arounds but it dose not mean that x person who is disabled could do it if they just had willpower because Sean can.

My electric wheelchair tyres pulled up and ruined the carpets so all except one room now is vinyl flooring, and that one room will soon be done. I have a Shark cordless vacuum which broke after 7 months, so after I have had the last carpet changed will be buying a new cordless vacuum. I could not manage a corded hoover because I would get tangled in the cords.

I love vacuuming in a wheelchair, the trick is cordless, but most cordless vacuums aren't good. You have to shell out for the Dyson! My husband won't get in my chair!
