I'm someone who dabbles in audio engineering for my own recordings and when I found out that not only does mafumafu sing really well and write lots of original music, he actually both PLAYS THE PARTS and MIXES HIS OWN AUDIO and also mixes OTHER UTAITE'S AUDIOS, my level of respect for this dude went from "wow, this guy is great" to "holy shit this is a genuine musical genius"

This is one of the most crazy videos I think I've ever seen, just considering the amount of time and effort you put into everything and went from no idea of how to make music to making a pretty amazing song very clearly inspired by one of the most insanely skilled songwriters ever (and that you also attempted mixing it yourself). The sequence of Mafu screams had me cracking up - that man just be screamin' I was about to be scared when you mentioned downloading Utau; I briefly had Utau and the only reason I managed to set it up, I was possessed by hyperfixation. And that was JUST to set it up. But the fact that you used even an "easier" form of Utau is still not easy, because tuning and figuring out what notes you're even aiming for was a headache for me Like the level of effort into every second of this is crazy to me dude. Even your little animated character and all the video editing. I think the way you probably lost your mind allowed you to more properly channel the Mafu-song vibes

Commission an artist to draw up a character and like 4 images of them in dynamic poses (with separate layers for each part of the image), find a fitting Japanese font, edit it all together into a lyric video (plus some subtle effects for pizzazz), credit the artist as “Illust.”, credit Mafumafu as inspiration, hit send. I have faith it’d do numbers - much larger numbers than 274, in fact You are actually wild for committing to this and seeing it through BTW. thanks so much for your comment, it means a lot to hear that! tbf i wasn't on the grind for the whole time, i spent several months not doing anything most days cause i kept losing motivation but hearing this really puts it in a different perspective, so thanks again for your kind words!! 🥰 i'm probably not that qualified to give tips since i wasn't super methodical about learning in the beginning and just let the algorithm keep recommending me things LOL but to get started what helped me was watching a bunch of beginner-friendly YT videos to ease into it, like from how to start the song/make a melody (e.g. kzread.info/dash/bejne/n2qDybCphM3bctY.htmlsi=ZPK6pNPRckebeBZQ) -> to how to do arrangement after you have an idea (i think this was one of my first videos kzread.info/dash/bejne/gKuIstODe9Ksh5s.htmlsi=EJFz3RggmeGulXWj) and looking up how to do stuff as you go along ("i need chords, drums, etc"). if you want to see the entire process there's also "making a song from scratch"-ish videos to help you get an idea of what you need to do my playlist has more mixing videos so it might not be as helpful for production (i also dumped everything vaguely music-related into it so it's a mess) but i recommend making your own! happy new year : )

It's been a long time since the last time I watched a video longer than 30 minutes without pausing and I must say that the effort you have poured in making a Mafumafu is FUCKING ADMIRABLE. Also as a casual fan of Mafumafu, I hope this video will reach Mafumafu (and a hope for him covering this lol) Anyway, thank you so so much for this inspiring video. I must say that this is CRAZY. I just can imagine how many times you had to replay the song over and over again in the try of getting it into a masterpiece. The lyrics, the sound, all the explanation. You really did a great job, the determination and the discipline as well. I know nothing about Mafumafu, vocaloid, jpop, or anything of the sort, but as a musician, i can confidently say that this absolutely fucking slaps. There is so much diversity in the music, it's dynamic and chaotic, yet structured and organised. To think that you believed this is *bad* is a sin. You should be not only proud of yourself, you should be celebrating! You are right, making music is hard, but by god have you hit the nail on the head here. I genuinely mean this when i say you have potential. And don't let the fact that you drew a lot from Mafumafu's style detract from that idea of potential- everybody starts somewhere, and everybody has their inspirations. Modern music is absolutely chock full of sampling, copying and referencing. Keep at this and keep sharing your music. I believe you will go far!

i headbanged so hard to this song that my brain felt wobbly for a good 10 minutes. (its a banger.) i feel like creative people, no matter what type whether it be writers, artists, musicians etc always get trapped in this cycle of never feeling good enough and failing to be proud of the progress we have already made. even though i'm not a composer or musician i still relate to the lyrics as an artist because it's such a fustrating experience. so i just wanna say you should definitely be proud of this!! it's genuinely incredible (and inspiring!) how you went from knowing basically nothing to composing and making an entire song that goes THAT hard. and if i was a popular musician and i found out someone had spent entire months of their life making a whole song inspired by my own work i think it'd be the coolest fucking thing ever.
