    * JOURNEY ACROSS JAPAN CONTINUES - MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! * One of my favourite episodes of the trip, as we get to see the epic Tachineputa floats with the awesome team. Also I realise the last couple of thumbnail/titles are about food - but make no mistake this isn't a food tour! The main reason is food topics are generally better promoted on KZread to viewers (as opposed to arts, crafts, culture), so we typically gravitate towards it. Still it was a delicious bowl of ramen and I highly recommend swinging by if you ever visit Aomori city! Have an amazing Christmas everyone and a big thank you for joining us on the journey - we still have 6 epic episodes to go as we head into Akita soon!

This is a very clear example why you should do a festival mini-series. I don't know why you haven't just yet. It could have a part dedicated to exploring the origins and what it stands for, maybe even speak with some local festival experts too, and then enjoy the festival itself.

So for the Nebuta festivals from what I remember being told during my time in Aomori, they were started in the 1950s to try and invigorate the local economy and also encourage local residents to come together post war. Different areas in the prefecture have different versions of the festival. Hirosaki's one is to act as jf its a group of soldiers going to war as the floats usually have warriors on one side and then crying women on the other side. Aomori city is more meant to be them returning from wR victorious as the festival participants are always meant to be dancing. It's worth seeing though for sure

It was madness at the time, but I'm glad I went to Aomori for just a few hours up from Tokyo using the Shinkansen and back in November last year (while the JR pass was much cheaper) to experience the Nebuta museum, bought some giant apples, gone to the Aomori Nokkedon to get some fresh sashimi straight from the market, walked along the boardwalk, and back to Tokyo in the same night. I did go back to Aomori again last October and explored a little more to the North Korea-esque building of an information centre, but forgot that the Nokkedon wasn't open during that day. What a shame.

I like that you seems to take the criticism seriously, and portray the "Journey" part a lot more compared to the previous episodes in the last two episode.

Your videos are amazing! And seeing you share these experiences with your partner brings warmth to my heart. The day I go back to Japan, I'll have to do a full channel review of all the wonderful places you made us discover.

Incredible episode, I love Aomori and it's thanks to videos like this that it's my dream holiday destination BUT I must say that Chris being so excited to show 'even' the editors the giant float killed me, he's like a kid dragging his long-suffering parents outside to show them his favourite tree 😂
