China high speed train seating primer: A/F are always window seats, C/D are aisle seats. In 2nd class, seats are 3+2 with ABC on one side of the aisle and DF on the other. In 1st class it's AC + DF. In business class, it's A + F, or AC + F, or A + DF.

@@josieliftsthingsIn China, a lot of elderly people complain about the AC being too cold. Also there is a saying that staying in a space with AC on full blast is bad for your health in general and would cause Arthritis (I am not medical professional so I don’t know if it’s true) That is the reason these trains have the temperature set around 27 C/ 80 F by default. It's interesting for me, as a Chinese person who has always lived in this country, to hear about different experiences. Because of my business trips, I regularly take high-speed trains. I heard that you complained about the air conditioning in VIP class because it was too hot. However, I always need to wear more layers in second class. I think the key reason is that we have different temperature requirements. Maybe you can ask the attendant to adjust the temperature. I believe they will be glad to help you because it's their responsibility. Additionally, to avoid crime and other unnecessary trouble, I advise you to order a taxi using a mobile app (like Didi, similar to Uber in the USA) in advance or wait in line outside the station.

Having a high speed rail alternative might also introduce more price competition with the air alternative that might bring down air travel prices. Ultimately, it would be preferable for Americans to have the choice of rail vs. air.

In some small cities in China, there are always illegal taxi(we call them black taxis) drivers who come to chat you up at the station. We locals hate them too. The next time you see them, you can reply "no" seriously and they will go away. Remember to choose a formal way to leave the station. Using the Didi app to call a taxi anywhere is the right choice. Every station will have a pick-up area for Didi platform drivers, and the platform will pay attention to your safety throughout the journey.

If you feel hot in the train compartment, you can tell the train attendant and they will help you adjust the compartment temperature. Generally speaking, the temperature of the train compartment will be adjusted to a temperature that most people feel comfortable. If there is a special request, such as someone feels too cold or too hot, and no one else objects, the attendant will agree to your request.

Yes and no, normally in groups it's assigned by automatically, probably in the order in which the booking was received. To get seats next to each other just head to any HSR station in advance and have them get the seats you want. I think some booking platforms can actually do this for you by request for a charge.

U can choose whatever seat u want booking online if there's enough seat. Such as , if u have 2people u can choose to seat side by side or one in the front and one in the back so u can both sit next to the window. Same logic for more.

The pink ribbon on the toilet seat has two functions. The first function is to make it convenient for people to lift the toilet seat without touching it directly, as many men prefer to lift the seat and urinate while standing rather than sitting down when using this type of toilet. So they need to extend and lift the toilet seat. The second reason is that when the seat is put down, it sometimes makes a loud noise when it hits the toilet. This rubber handle can also absorb some of this noise.

Regarding the allocation of seats on the HSR, the situation is as follows: in case there are spare seats, if two tickets are booked at the same time, these two seats will usually be arranged together. However, if the seats are tight or if someone refunds the ticket, it is possible that the two seats are not next to each other. You can look at the seat numbers before you pay, and if you think there's a problem, you can cancel the payment and repurchase. This method also applies if you need a window seat.

I am not sure why it is confusing. You book the seats available. It is printed on the ticket. They are not double-booked seats. So why is it confusing? If some other passengers want to swap seats with you, that is between you and the passengers. Why has it anything to do with the booking system? Please be clear and precise in your narrative as this kind of "misinformation" will spread.

What possible misinformation? You can select seats but you’re not guaranteed to get them when choosing VIP, because the configuration of the train is not known at the time of booking. I think you need to settle down a bit and not be so sensitive to such a small thing. It’s a bit of an overreaction.

@@josieliftsthings it makes zero sense. your seat is printed on the ticket. There is no such a thing as unknown configuration. You are not the first person filming the business class seats. No one shows confusion on which seat to take. There is no unknown. Whether you like it or not and want to swap with others is totally up to you and others.

@@josieliftsthings The reason I said you are spreading "misinformation" is because you give people watching the impression that business class seating is confusing and up for negotiation with other passengers. That is NOT the case. Your seat is well determined.

I literally said VIP above, which is a different class to business. I caught both I this video. When I reference that I’m talking about “VIP class”. This is the information I was told by 12306 customer support chat. For the record, the configuration DOES change. When we booked business online it was a 1-2 configuration. When we turned up it was a 2-1 configuration. Meaning B and C were not seated together. They were when we purchased the tickets online. We literally didn’t even complain about it. Just shared my experience and you’re flipping out over it lmao. Calm down. Your lack of control of your emotions is embarrassing. Yes, I’m aware other KZreadrs pander to the Chinese audience for views. I tell the truth. If you don’t like that, go watch those who want to make you feel good in return for money - there’s a lot of them.

@@josieliftsthings What you can say is that "hey, I hope they could have a seating map like in the movie ticket website so I could pick and choose a seating I like during my travel." That is improvement. That is not confusion.

Hi Josie. The trains look luxurious compared to the Sydney to Canberra rail service. 282km in 4hours costing $55. Average speed 70km/hour. China rail is the future in comparison.
