Buxton Mineral Water: As an retired marketing man, it’s always made me laugh that the splurg on the label says something like: This pure, premium water has taken 5000 years to percolate through the Darbyshire limestone strata from its source’. But then they put a two year sell by date on it!

Glad you are enjoying our city & sorry about the extreme heatwave!. If I may make some other sight seeing suggestions while you are here: 1)AQWA-underwater Aquarium of Western Australia(good to do on a hot day as its indoors) 2)Caversham Wildlife Park where you can feed the kangaroos & get close to koala's. They have quokka's there too.(best to do this on a cooler day- maybe this Friday as it due to be only 30C) 3)Perth Optus Stadium tour. 4) Fremantle Maritime & Shipwreck Museums 5)Perth Mint. Hopefully you have time to fit them all in.. Enjoy your travels & remember to slip slop slap!(slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen & slap on a hat in hot weather)

Great video mate, really been enjoying your videos from my hometown of Fremantle 'Freo' and Perth more generally! Freo has always had a lively craft brewing, coffee and fish and chips scene! Also the review of QF10 over from London was great - a very long flight for sure but truly one of the great flights in aviation to experience at least once in your life!. Do try to stay cool though I think today will bring some considerable respite only heading for around 30 and and a good dose of probably an early arriving 'Fremantle Doctor' sea breeze but it will quickly shoot up again on Saturday before we are predicted to get to 43 on Sunday and 42 on Monday! There are towns inland and to the north of Perth within several hours drive which are forecast to reach high 40's this weekend so we are getting off pretty lightly to be honest!. As you were considering I think it's well worth heading over to 'Rotto' Rottnest whilst you're here which is defs one of Perth's favourite holiday and day trip destinations alike! Hiring a bike over there is a great idea although many locals usually just bring there own bike over on the ferry for a small surcharge otherwise you can just go over there and relax have a good time there's a pub at the main wharf and even a golf course on the island! Flying over there is another possibility usually you can incorporate this as part of a wider scenic flight around Perth and its beaches. Nearby Carnac Island is suppose to be the one notorious for Tiger Snakes so much so that they do not recommend people who arrive (only by private boat) to not journey beyond the beach! David Attenborough actually filmed a documentary on it! As per your question on Starbucks they are very rare in Australia probably the nearest one would be in Melbourne CBD which is like 3500km away!. Popular West Aussie coffee chain Dome dominates in Perth and even has shops over east and abroad and a pretty good local coffee culture nation wide and quite a few national chains I really don't see why most Aussies would bother going to Starbucks let alone it make business sense for them to try and expand aggressively into the country!

I’ve been living in Sydney since leaving the UK in 2007. If you don’t try the fantastic different ethnic foods when you come here you’re missing out. Cabramatta is the centre for Vietnamese, Fairfield and Merrylands for Iraqi and Persian. Auburn for Turkish. Lebanese in Sydney is amazing too. 👍

You are supposed to replace the sunscreen as the skin does absorb it. Wait until you come to Sydney on a hot 40 degree day with the humidity that we have here in the eastern side of the nation. I would rather dry heat than ours any day as you come out feeling like a wet towel & constantly needing a shower.

Hi Lee, another cool vid. Hoki is a very mild fish and popular with a lot of people who enjoy Fish and Chips but aren't really fish eaters, as bizarre as that sounds. It's very mild in flavour, which makes it a very non-offensive-tasting fish to them lol. Personally, I've always felt like you could batter and deep fry a slice of white bread and get just as much flavour out of it. However, that said, in all my years of frequenting local chippies where I live on the East Coast, I've never come across Hoki so flat. It's usually quite a meaty portion that you will find with Hoki. Mind you, I noticed with the first place where you had Hake that it was also quite a thin fillet for Hake as well, so those two things leave me a little mythed as to what they have going on over West. Now, quick heads up. Mushy Peas isn't a traditional side served here in Oz and if I were you, it's not something that I would be confident in encountering on a regular basis. What is traditional here in Oz is to have Chicken Salt on your chips. In fact, if you get away from those tourist trap-type Fish and Chip shops and go to a nice local Chippy, then you will always get asked if you Salt or Chicken Salt on your chips. Every Aussie knows, the answer always is ... CHICKEN SALT! Trust me, give that stuff a crack, you won't be disappointed! Now, not sure how much help in shooting you any great Fish and Chip spots to try in Sydney, I'm much further North than that myself. However, the Sydney Fish Market is an obvious one straight off the bat. However, there are thousands over Manly and also Watsons Bay way, not to mention scattered throughout all the burbs themselves. Hopefully some local Sydney siders can be of far more help for you :) Now, you did Ok first up going with the Barra but stay away from the boring stuff like Hoki, Hake, and Flake (Shark) Get your teeth into a big juicy delicious slab of Snapper my friend. That's where all the action is in a quality Aussie Chippy:) Good Luck!

Also went to the market and got some cup cakes from the stall you walked past. You wont find Starbucks in perth they did have one once but noone used it preferring independent coffee shops so it closed. You will find starbucks in Sydney, there is one by the rocks one in manly and im sure there is more.On our tripdown under the hotest place was Darwin at 32 degress and it was unbearable. We walke from the botanical gardens to the museum a 20 minute walk by the time we got to the hotel we felt like the inbetweeners when their car broke down on the australian highway😅

Hi Lee I grew up near Grimsby and my grandparents had a fish and chip shop in Cleethorpes In the 1950s , so I think I know a lot about fish and chips . But even in that area there would be a vast difference between chip shops . If it’s haddock it should be cooked properly , and be good quality fish . So when you cut into it it should Break into regular shaped flakes , if it does that I don’t even need to taste it to know it will be good . As for the batter my late father used to make his with a bit of beer , and also a little bit of custard powder added . He definitely took after his mum bless him when it came to fish and chips . 😂 👍

In law the statement "The Number 1" would be classed as puffery. It is mere "puff". Exactly what you said, a marketing statement that doesn't really say anything. However, I happen think that Cicerello's is the best fish and chip shop in Perth, but I would always go for the Dhufish or Snapper. Your fish didn't look too good at all. Also, Cicerello's might be called a tourist spot now, but it has a long tradition in Fremantle and started as a fishing boat harbour fish and chip shop selling freshly caught fish and cooked fish and chips in a dingy tiled shop that succeeded because it's produce was so good. Thanks for featuring Freo!

Lee, Did you know that when they say a beach is 'shark netted' it doesn't always mean that it's a totally enclosed area? Sometimes, particularly on long beaches, the nets are simply set out in broken staggered lines on the principle that sharks are put off by the interruption of their swim direction and also often get tangled up in the net. They're adventurous cads, the Aussies.

There is a wonderful fish restaurant called Doyles at Watsons Bay in Sydney that has been there since 1885. You catch the ferry over from Circular Quay. Great location and views of the city from there too.

Next time you come to Western Australia in the summer time go Marble Bar up north inland it can get 50 degrees. It’s one of hottest places in Australia.

I’d really like to see The MacMaster attempt something more risqué, like hiring an electric vehicle and taking it for a drive into the WA outback where charging stations are few and far between. That would make for an awesome episode! Please MacMaster… do it for your loyal viewers.

Good to see Cicerellos is still going. I ate there many times when I lived near Freo in the early 1990's. It was never cheap, but always good quality and a lovely location. I often miss things about living in Australia, but 40+ degree days are definitely not one of them!

Not anymore. Cicerellos changed hands quite a few years ago and now it is average at best.

They don't do mushy peas . . . That's a plus in my opinion! I may be English by birth, the most common veggie served at mum's table was peas. followed by green beans. As an adult of 27 years (don't ask how many times . . . I've lost count) I have a rule, if it's green, and came from a can, it will NOT pass my lips! Extra points for no mushy peas!
