I’m so happy I have never been materialistic and always a saver. Living frugally and being a minimalist, I retired at 60 free of debt and happily left the rat race workforce in 2021 with my employer matched and unmatched retirement accounts, my nice size savings and my emergency fund which will see through at least 2 years of my expenses. Not to mention collecting my well earned Social Security benefits I paid into for decades. The last 24 years busting my butt working in healthcare as a (RT)Respiratory Therapist and through the Covid/Delta pandemic 😷. So although I have the cash, I won’t waste my hard earned money on an overpriced fancy golf cart/EV. I’ll keep my 50MPG Toyota Prius Hybrid I paid cash for brand new in 2013. The best trouble free investment I ever made. 2 years scheduled free Toyota maintenance, Reliable, Low fuel ⛽️ consumption and expense, Zero issues, Zero repairs, Zero plug 🔌 in charging required. Just gas up and go!. Today, my Prius continues running like new. Saving me a ton of money. Awesome car!. Since retiring I rarely drive. So my Prius will likely outlast me.😂😂😂😂😅😅😅 No EV for me.

You've made the right decision Terry, you won't regret it. Stick with good old internal combustion. It might be old, but it's still at the cutting edge of what's possible. Unlike these silly battery operated things that only the brain-dead would buy. Treat yourself to a nice V8, or even a big powerful diesel. Then you can roll coal every time you overtake some daft sop in a Tesla. Best game in the world.

Let me see if I get that straight. So... With enough money I can setup an EV charging company. Then I deploy bunch of charging stations, most probably financed by the government via some lucrative "incentive program" . Then I start collecting money from customers without even selling them something yet (say... 45 bucks) Then I program, maybe 20% of my charging stations to fail the charging but hold onto those sweet 45 bucks for 7 days in my bank account, collecting interest. Multiply by few thousand people per day and... wow. I now own a company that is both "green", "saves the planet" and profits while selling almost nothing. The big question is - how TF is that even legal?

I don’t understand these lease packages So you lease a car for 36 months skoda enyaq? , one payment of £3,800 then 35 payments of £395 so that’s £17625 for three years use limited to 6,000 miles a year, extra milage is £0.17 so if you need 12,000 miles that’s an extra £3,006 so your total is £20,631 for 3 years use before charging £6,877 a year But these cars are quite basic you could buy a car outright for that sort of money and pay £1800 a year in petrol And it will last you 15 years

  • @Barbarapape

@@TNT-projects I guess you've just found one lease quote. Play with somewhere like leaseloco and you'll find all sorts of deals and different mileages. There are many benefits to leases, especially avoiding a lump sum to purchase outright. The likes of PCPs are an option but can cost more. Then there's depreciation not being your concern. Keeping a car for along time will decrease overall costs, but maintenance costs increase, reliability decreased and you have old tech. Geoff's route can be the cheapest option if you have other vehicles for contingency and a good garage to keep older vehicles running.

Filling up my tank with premium diesel costs £1.649 x 50 = £82.45. And it never gets that empty in reality. But I could achieve 750 miles plus driving at steady 60-65 mph. So £59 for a 200 mile range is a expensive hobby I’ll pass on.

Come on, let's be honest now, all the ev owners out there if you have a 5 ,6,or 7 year old ev who is going to buy your car absolutely no way I would buy that car, when maybe you might be the one who as to buy a new battery for it of which would cost you far more than what the car would be worth that is a fact. Plus, at the moment, the devaluation is very bad.

A dealership in Derby got flooded and loads of cars ruined, the dealership told people to claim off their own insurance, one person had an EV on ramps but the battery had been removed and was on the floor underwater, the car was ok with it being on the ramps but the battery was ruined, They got very little off the insurance for the write off value of the car, they lost out over 30,000. Now if that was an ICE vehicle it would've been about £80 for a new 12V battery, job done 😂😂

We use apps like ABRP ( Abetterrouteplanner) that does exactly that. The app plans the route and indicates where to stop and how long to charge at each stop, with drive times and charge times given to show the total. Usually, it's best to stop at 20% charge and fill no more than 80% as charging slows down afterwards. On long trips, the plan will usually be for 150-mile 'legs' so that charging and coffee/meal/loo breaks coincide, and no time is really lost in charging. Lee refuses to plan like that so that vids can be made showing a drama instead. We know that there are still problems with the infrastructure. But nothing like he claims. And every month more hubs open.

We're from Manila & what we have here is the Nissan Kick's e-Power Hybrid that's electrical car that has ICE on board connected to a generator that's when you're using the car & the battery goes low the ICE turns on & charges the battery on the go without needing to stop. So when you get home at 3am, you don't need 8hrs to charge for tomorrow, you don't need a home charger or go to an out of the way charging station thats occupied when you get there. The ICE is low displacement so it's very economical on petrol. And it can go very far on battery alone. I hope more car manufacturers make cars like this using hydrogen internal combustion engine. No more range anxiety.

As great as EVs might be they are far from being the vehicle for the roads today. As with everything these days the governments all believe that if they so so it will happen. The major issues with EVs are simple. 1. Few and far between charging stations. 2. Charging takes to long. 3. The overall cost to own an EV and to maintain it. 4. The fact you can't take your EV just anywhere for repairs. 5. And this is the big one, battery's. The cost is far out of the range of the average person. 6. No one including environmentalist are even considered about the fact that building an EV isn't environmentally sound. 7. The world isn't ready for EVs as far as the infrastructure is concerned. We will need from 3 to 5 times the amount electrical power in order to charge more and more EVs. It's an idea where little thought was put into what it would truly take to incorporate. The world isn't built for EVs and it would be far to costly to make the world an EV world...

Thank you for showing us all the pitfalls of owning an EV, have watched so many of your videos, and you are correct they are not the future, they are expensive and the network is nowhere near capable of being practical considering only about 5-8% use an electric car, and they are not green by any stretch to produce. As for charging costs, wow how that has gone up in the last few years, one of the arguments for owning an EV was the cost of charging would be so much cheaper, not when it costs £50 for 180 miles or so, insane. They are a good alternative if you can afford one, have your own overnight charging port, happy to pay cashless, yes it has it's place, but not to push it mainstream on everyone. Being forced to pay cashless is a big issue for many, also you need a smart phone, not for me. And what is all that about the charging stations being with no cover ? Why? Thanks for the videos always try to catch them, and tell others about your site. If it was not for your videos I would not have known about all these problems and costs, as the propaganda machine makes it all look so easy and cheap and green, good to see the reality, or at least a different view, where people at least have the information to make an informed decision. Where is all the extra mining of metals for the batteries going to come from to sustain the vast majority of motorists using EVs, the figures do not add up. How is that green.
