Some of the comments under this video are kinda mean, Im suprised. Im a climber and haven't watched your videos before, but youre obviously amazing in your sport field and where really attentive and respectful trying to learn something new. Of course you're not going to be as great as Louis or climbers used to the sport, but I doubt many have your physique. Willingness to try out new things should be admired. You seemed incredibly humble and happy too! Enjoyed this a lot + hadn't seen Louis as a teacher yet, he gave really good tips I'll start incorporating into my explanations too

It seems you've got the perfect attitude for climbing and you'll get so much out of it, it'll be the favourite part of your week soon and something you'll always be looking forward to. Stay humble and watch better climbers, soon you'll get a real feel for it

Obi, you really did a great job, and I really appreciated how much attention to all of the little things Louis was showing you, and I'm super impressed with how well you did! Even a strong guy like you often has a really hard time adapting to the unique body movements in climbing. I think you could do well in this sport if you keep at it. You earned a sub.

I've been climbing for 5 months and absolutely love it. I clicked on this just for fun and was pleasantly surprised by two things. One, Obi's attitude about trying new things, taking them seriously, and really committing to it -- to enjoy it, grow from it, and have fun! Two, Louis' precision in teaching the fundamentals was really helpful. I'd heard of being "quiet with my feet" but never thought to practice precision with purpose like that. Great tips and I'm totally using them in the gym tomorrow. Thanks!!

  • @RIanCold

Great, really interesting. One thing I was expecting him to point out on the second climb is that our legs, not our arms, are designed to hold our body weight. This why you twist and move your body position so your legs push you up rather than your arms pull your body weight up. On harder climbs this becomes increasingly more difficult.

It's really surprising to see such a strong first timer, faced with an overhang with good holds, take their time to actually think about body and feet positioning (trying to make sense of all that Louis had been teaching up until that point). For such a strong guy as yourself, you'll improve incredibly fast as your body learns these movements. This guy is doing the equivalent of teaching you good form for bench press, dips and squats. In climbing if you don't learn good technique you will hit an early level limit, but you will have a hardtime overcoming bad technique AT that limit, so you will have to go backwards to relearn. If you get the technique from zero you will still find your limit, but making progression will be so much easier/pure/true. Obi seems to have a great attitude.
