Yes it’s always amazing to see how many fish play around with your bait, when you think nothing is happening. In all types of fishing, cool footage.

Tony, those snails sure have an attitude about them, The vast variety of fish that is in the surf is astounding! We do not have that many surf species out here on the Left Coast. Good show!

I fish on Florida's SE coast so we have similar species as you have although the "hard tails" you mention look to me to be a cross between a Jack Crevalle and a Blue Runner and the "leatherback's" we refer to as "Skip Jacks" (they have a very sharp small, sawblade shaped dorsal fin) over here. I now have a better idea of how many species are stealing my bait. We have a lot of "crab stealers" on our coast, most notably Calico's. I'm not sure about the snails because I've never brought one in like I have the Calico's. I might try to do a similar experiment here but I will use an independent outfit for the camera only and throw it out first. Then I'll throw my baited rig out on or over the camera and then reel in till I have the bait in view. It might take a few try's to get it right but we have so many shark problems here I'd be afraid to have the camera on the same rig. Thanks for the video.

Hi... are you saying that all fish are conscious when and when not that there is a hook amoungst the bait? If yes would that be local shallow waters verses ocean depths? Fish just don't seem to be cautious about feeding biting anything if there is no hook?
