The view on top is really rewarding especially after having to struggle with the 800 steps up the headland to reach the feet of the statue, plus another 100 steps to its shoulders. It's a steep climb but the view is truly amazing. Vung Tau also has nice beaches and of course, delectable local food. Great place to explore and best visited via a motorbike.

My dad used to live here when he retired! Makes me want to go back to visit. Great videos mate

I made it up the steps about halfway. It was so hot and my motorbike driver looked so comfortable in the shade at the bottom that I gave up and joined him. We ended up at the ferry dock for lunch and many beers. He spoke no English and I spoke no Vietnamese, and we drank and chatted all afternoon!

You didn't climb up the Jesus statue? There are 2 observation decks on his shoulders.... You could tell from the seaweed in the trash.....they washed up on shore when there are high tides....so those trashes came from somewhere else nearby, locals organized clean up teams very often, but you can't stop the waves from bringing in trashes elsewhere ....you can search for this a lot online 'trashes in vungtau"

You're right...all the plastic trash littered across the beautiful beaches in southeast Asia is an absolute eye sore. I wish heavy fines were imposed like in Singapore to deter people from littering.

You are epic, "I kindly accepted that request";-) The litter you have in many places on beaches, even in the Bahamas. I went to one beach there unknown to tourists and it was so disgusting with tons of car tires in the water and like 3-4 feet high mountains of trash right on the sand.

I use to walk it every morning and even ran half way once, and just once. Weather permitting. Too bad you didn't go inside and out on the arms. Try to go up Hem 444 to see the old French cannons and go further up.

If it’s a DJI, you can register it there.. entirely up to you, but the drone will work fine without being registered 😉

Didn’t need anything to enter, I needed an E visa which you get online, and I always have insurance when I travel, there is a link in my description for who I use 😊

Me and my husband are cook for out to Thailand in 7 weeks, we initially wanted to bring our drone with us, but found out recently that it has to be registered as we only in Thailand for one week it seems we don’t have the time to register, but we are back In February next year, would it be possible to register it this trip to use in the next trip as I think the licence lasts two years. Do you happen to know if this would be possible to do. Thanks x

You are definitely supposed to register your drone, mine is registered, but I have never been asked for it.. I have met plenty of people that just bring their drones and use them.. I’m not saying that’s what you should do, but it does happen a lot 😉

It’s very disappointing to see the litter on the streets and beaches in VN. I see people talking about it but few take action. So, as a challenge for some compensation, how would you like to receive a reasonable donation (from a Vietnamese Australian American) by getting the locals to clean up the beaches in VN and keep them clean?
