They want good brand representation and they want other companies to see that if you pay them and invite them to events that they get easy promotion so that the youtuber gets invited to more events. this video will hurt this channel in the future with brands being less likely to invite him to see/test prototypes many techyoutubers wont take that risk and hurt their own channel

You do not understand the definition of the word "biased". As long as someone has any sort of want for things going one way over the other, they are biased. For example, in this case, there is a financial incentive for making engaging content to maximize clicks to maximize them $$$s. Whether that makes it more attractive for him to destroy this product regardless of whether it's good is irrelevant to the discussion of whether he's biased. The best anyone can do is typically "making an attempt to appear unbiased or correct for their biases."

  • @DavorBa

    @DavorBa

    Ай бұрын

@@Alice_Fumo I believe you are overthinking it, as the definition of "biased" is: unfairness or prejudice against someone or something. It goes without saying that every content creator has a need to make watchable engaging content. But when reviewing products it can go two ways: they are pro or against something. Their "bias" of making a good video will pervade the video in any case, so they might as well share their honest uncensored experience and let the content write itself. Was Arun unfair in his criticism against this product ? I don't think so. Did he have prejudice ? Well if you count his desire to like this product, then yes. But technically no.

Plus, the only reason you’re not gonna see an nothing-but-negative review of the iPhone, Samsung, Pixel etc is because is far as the tech and ability of the devices are concerned, they’re pretty decent. Privacy concerns are a completely diff matter and don’t belong in ANY electronic review bc if I was gonna make a video pointing out that Google uses every sliver of your data and spies on you (just like every social media app on the market), then I’d do it on a separate video. But I get what you’re saying 100%. These guys have made a nice living off of reviewing tech, so I’m sure they don’t want to piss off Big Tech in the process, makes sense to me 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not saying I AGREE with it, but that I simply understand it.

@@Druze_Tito You're one of those. Yes, they (the reviewers) affect the sales of this product, for a very good reason. It is not a good product, and it is not at all worth buying. They don't want people to waste their money. That is the point of a review, it affects the sales of a product, and tells people whether they should, or should not buy it. Back to what you said, that it has potential. So why don't you work on it and make it a good product, before trying to sell it? For 700$, may I add. A quality product is more likely to garner positive reviews and generate sales through word-of-mouth recommendations. Investing in product development to enhance its features, functionality and overall quality can significantly improve its marketability and customer satisfaction, which will lead to less negative reviews, and more profit. I don't even think you watched the video, and saw all of it's flaws. This thing, in it's current stage, is not better than a smartphone, even for busy people. And I'd go as far to say that it will never be as good as a smartphone, let alone be better than one. Overall, relying on the product's potential, and hoping that it does get better while it is falling incredibly short currently, is not a good reason to spend 700$ on it.

The cost would have been lower, leading to better adoption, and thus possibility to improve the other unique features through user feedback. Eventually it would have been a question of “should I ditch my phone”, rather than “do I need this expensive device?”

I love your idea of it being an extension to a phone and being able to record longer, i.e. I work outdoors and would like a record of my work in case there are any issues. Being a tech enthusiast and building tech of my own has taught me something: Most users do not care about COOL tech. If your product's tech is cool, but has limitations, most users will gladly go for the boring yet useful product. I understand that the concept is like the AI of the movie "Her", but that product didn't want to become a "Tool", like this AI pin is trying to become. That product was an "AI friend" of sorts.

Wonderful video. Thank you for not being “bought” by that trip to their company and time with the CEO they gifted you. You fundamentally reviewed and pulled apart the entire concept at its core. Bravo. One sentence I felt was missing right at the end - is that we have watches, we have wireless earbuds for private audio, what do we need this company for - they didn’t even create a single AI model that makes this device useful. They’re pointless. Once Apple and/or android puts chatGPT into their voice assistant, this entire company is worth nothing. The self-importance of these people because they worked on the original iPhone and iPod is hilarious.

They seem incredibly out of touch with reality, like people with a lot of intelligence in one area but no perspective in general life. The idea that having a 24/7 AI assistant literally attached to you somehow helps you "stay in the moment" more than a smartphone is honestly one of the silliest things I've heard supposed smart people come up with. Thinking we need a new "smart device" that does most of the same stuff a smartphone does, just without the visual aspect, to stop relying on another smartphones is a peak 'intelligent people being stupid' moment. This isn't going to make people less reliant on apps or a smartphone, they just want a piece of the consumerism pie and they're using the idea of it being "good for humanity™" as their selling point. Also the name "Humane" just feels trashy, especially because now we've seen the device in action it doesn't seem like they were thinking of what humanity needs while making it at all. Even the thought process behind it seems to be just a random gadget to add to the market and make them rich. Calling your company "Humane" seems like they're trying too hard to be perceived as "the good guys" of the tech world. It's overkill and a desperate attempt to build a public image that will sell.

Even better if they can reduce the latency in requests, maybe by also having it run on high-speed 5G- which again, will be something that is more accessible in the future than it is now. So this idea is basically too ahead of its time atm. Already I can see the beginnings of a good product; its quirks just need to be fixed and it'll be there. It’s slower than what I would want. Hopefully he, the maker, has a patent. People would definitely copy what will be an awesome device to have in the near future. Someone will add a very decent camera and brighter reflections to make it a convenient usable piece of tech!

I have a Humane AI pin and agree with Arun’s assessment- and will add that the “hands screen display” is really difficult if you have small hands. There is just not enough real estate to adequately accommodate the screen display…. And the set up instructions are brutal. Sure the packaging is super sexy and very Apple-esque but that’s where the graceful onboarding experience ends. I have had this Humane AI pin for all of three hours and already logged three “support” emails as I cannot find out how to integrate my iCloud and Spotify into the settings ( suspect I cannot and will have to subscribe to a Tidal account😮). I agree that the PIN would be more useful if it integrated into the existing ecosystem I am already using

You know a place where this device like this would be perfect? A Star Trek Starship. Powerful enough processing capacity to host its own AI model, spacious and populated enough to justify day to day use for users, enough mission profile variety for users to fully utilize the badge's functionality. This basically combined the combadge and the tricorder

Won't look out of place either with the other 60"s technology lol. Sounds good on paper but IRL it's basically a Nokia 3310 and a projector. In comparison this makes the iPod Shuffle seem like a good idea.

The Humane AI pin's attempt to marry convenience and innovation is commendable. However, the limitations shown, particularly with connectivity, time lag, and limited app integration, are fundamental barriers. At this stage and price point, it doesn't seem like a feasible daily companion yet. I admire the vision though and look forward to seeing its evolution.

Is the vision really admirable though? I just don’t see how this could have been a compelling product even if it was the perfect version of itself. It’s just gimmicky nonsense given that one already has a portable device they already carry absolutely everywhere they go and can do much more and provide far more personalized and fine grained experiences. All this hoopla simply to avoid whipping out your phone from your pocket?

This reminds of the Pebble smart watch which was pretty basic and clunky but drove the smart watch market on. I think there is scope for Apple to take this concept as another satellite device for your iPhone. This removes the need for a separate connection and fee.

Props for the honest review. Before even watching the video, I could already predict what the issues were going to be and I was indeed correct in that assumption. The other issue is most people have smart watches now too, and all you really need to do is install an ai assistant on it and you pretty much have something that this thing does, without the price tag or need for an additional data plan. Great video Arun.

That's a great point. In the 150 dollar range I would consider this, in its current form even. At 700 it needs to at least match devices in that range or really excel at something those devices can't do. The benefit of this is convenience, even with a 15 second wait time, I can think of plenty of cases where I would use something like this. (Especially after traveling and wishing I could Google something with one free hand as I'm pulling luggage). But at 700 I'll just wait til my hands are free.
