As a person that works with high schoolers in the US (specifically NY) it's so cool to see similarities in behaviors and wittiness around the world in other cultures. I study in a school for tons of immigrant children learning the dutch language and it's so funny to see how everyone gets along and is every character you could see through middle school and highschool, the popular group the nerds quiet kids and who not! But by the end of the day everyone gets along and talks to each other dispite race or religion and its the sweetest thing I've experienced, I'm 17 and this has made a big impact in my life and has changed the way I think. This video just as I watch it, it's just so similar to what I experience on a daily basis lol and it's truly amazing.

Have you ever learn a foreign language? I mean for real not on a duolingo application by yourself. Do you know that for some people speaking another language can be stressful and challenging? English is no exception. It's need a lot of courage to speak in front of other people when it's not your language and yeah stuff like that can happen. Nothing to made fun of.

@@wins._7 I'm not in his mind, but I use to teach French to immigrants and I notice that, especially asians in beginner level, tend to translate the meaning of their names. So maybe he was thinking how to say his name in English or he was thinking if it is better to say his first or last name first (since in Japanese they say their last name before the first). It could be also only nervosity.

  • @SidusBrist

I think it's because Japanese people invert their phrases compared to English, so after he said "my name is" he would naturally have ended the sentence but he forgot to say his name, while actually he was doing right!

I think Sidus is right. Im learning Japanese recently. They form their sentences by putting the object before the verb. So instead of “I eat apple”, they say “I apple eat”. Since the dude already said the “eat” part, i guess he confuse that he alr end the sentence

Pretty sure there are people who are going to tell you that you shouldn’t, because of the culture shock and everything. And how Japanese kids are ignorant, yata yata yata. My aunt is an English teacher in Japan and to her experience, she pretty much enjoys it. But again, the culture difference was the hardest thing for her. I also grew up in Japan and I had this funny ALT and I asked his experiences of being one. You can really tell how he loves his job a lot by the way he talks about it. He’s been teaching in Japan for 11 years. He understands Japanese but he can’t speak Japanese lol. While I’m the opposite. I can understand English but I can’t speak it. So he talks to me in English and I talk to him in Japanese, it’s so funny So if someone says don’t be an English teacher in Japan, just keep in mind that not everyone has the same exact experiences. Try it out first, quit the job if it isn’t for you.

I've watched an insane amount of content where Americans/brits travel to japan and China etc. Twitch streams and youtube videos- and none of them catch the heart and personability of the people that live in these areas. I love your videos so so so much! please keep making them

I taught English in Taiwan many years ago. Most of my students were from K-thru Jr. High. Most of the little girls all had a crush on me. They were so much fun to teach, I stayed for 5 years.

Hey!!!! I absolutely love all of your videos, you are a big inspiration! I always wanted to teach english as a second language and I don't have my certification yet, would you know what's a legit website I could get one? I was thinking to teach / live in Thailand or Japan, I'm not sure if a bachelor is a must (which I don't have), a lot of websites say you do and don't need one. Keep posting your amazing videos! Thank you!!!

Hi Anming, as someone who grew up in the generation where some or most of the family spent some time in Japan, i personally enjoy watching your videos...it really bothered me when i heard some of the things people write to you. Pondering on it, it all comes down to the simplest answer that they are so jealous that you are living the life you want and they are stuck. Enjoy life while you and your husband are child free. Travel, work and enjoy each other. I love languages, if i could have done this when i was young, well i dont know if i would have been brave enough. May Gods light shine upon you both. ❤
