Etnies seems like another good alternative, they also have some shoes made of recycled materials and some are vegan. I will continue buying second hand because new shoes are too pricey for me. The second hand vans I got 5 months ago look still the same when I got them because the non-abrasive griptape really does its job, very pleased with that.

I've noticed that the Vans made in China are tighter and longer than the vans made in Vietnam. Slip-ons seem to all be made in China now so if you want Vans slip-ons that aren't super tight you have to order customs and select wide. I've started getting Fallens and Etnies as they fit much better and are in general more wear resistant. These Cariumas look interesting I'll have to try some out.

I just started breaking in some Vans Skate sk8-hi's I got for sale a few weeks ago.. and those seem comfortable enough... but now I'm wanting to try Cariumas. I don't know if they have these in stores around me tho. So I wanted to ask if you think the change in the toe cap design you described would be better or worse on wider feet?

hi! Thank you. I'm glad you've been enjoying the videos :D I feel you. Shoe shopping is a nightmare for me. My vans sk8 hi shoes were also pretty pinchy on the toes, though they did wear-in eventually unlike the slip ons. So, I can say that the toe-cap design definitely seems better for my wider feet. The widest part of the Cariuma is slightly closer to the toes, which is why they fit me better than the vans slip-ons. But, I don't have my sk8hi's to compare with. I would say if the sk8-hi's and slip ons have the same shaped toe cap, it's pretty likely that the Cariuma's will have a slightly wider fit as well.

Hi Sarah, thanks for the great video and especially for telling your personal reasons why you got Cariuma skateshoes-it was very helpful. I'm also thinking about getting a pair of Cariuma catiba pros. I like the ethical and sustainable factory concept of Cariuma. Here in Germany the price is (98 € plus) also higher than for Vans (around 70-100 €), but if they last longer and are more comfortable, for me, it would be worth it. For the moment i skate cheap Oxelo vulca 500 low from Decathlon and they feel very comfortable and longlasting (already 6 month and i go skate 2 times a week). My feet and my moneysaving soul are really happy with these shoes🙃. But i guess that they won't be made of organic materials. And i don't know if there's an ethical factory concept behind...so thanks Sarah for encouraging me also getting Cariuma skateshoes 😃 the inclusive website is also an important reason to me...gender neutral would be great, too. I totally agree with you 🙂 sending you positive skatevibes from Germany!

Same shoes, same colors, just the sizes are different. I really appreciate that. Also, glad your shoes have been lasting so well! :D It's hard to beat a comfortable and long lasting shoe. That's a good point. If I could, I'd buy one shoe. Of course I'd be buying a left shoe bc that's my front foot. Also I agree with the vans thing. My experience (so far) is, every vans shoe Ive owned is kinda narrow towards the front, and that ended up making my small toe rub against the inside side, and I'd actually get blisters and can't skate for a bit bc of it. Then bc of that, my other toes rubbed against each other and it was painful. I got my vans half cabs, and they're nice and way comfortable than my other vans, but still a bit narrow. But idk of they'll stay that way, bc I'm still breaking them in.

    2 жыл бұрын

Hi! That's awesome. It's easy to find tips and tricks on cameras and equipment, techniques etc. But, if I was to give any advice, it'd be on mindset. 1. Don't worry too much about what you need to have/know when starting the channel. I learned a lot more just making the videos. My videos are way better now than a year ago, just because I committed to make them consistently. No different than skating. Practice is the best teacher haha And you can learn while you make them! 2. Make sure you're talking about or doing something you're passionate about. It's much easier to connect with someone who is passionate about what they're doing and share that joy. 3. If it is your goal to connect with an audience (and not just make a few videos for fun) think about what value you can give them. If you provide value, the people who connect with that content will appreciate it :) Good luck to you 💪 Making videos consistently is a lot of work, but it's also really rewarding.

Thanks Jonathan! I'd like to try Etnies sometime...maybe a thinner shoe of theirs 🤔 if it can handle what are apparently my wide feet lol. You keep skating too 👊

Anyone who has wide feet on the top portion of their foot will have problems with vans. I literally can’t get my hobbit feet into vans because they’re built for narrow feet exclusively it seems. I’m size 13 men’s and wide footed - it’s so hard to find anything out there. Been thinking about trying cariumas.

A feature of the insta360 cameras is that they automatically remove the selfie stick from the video. I originally thought it was a drone and she was holding some sort of tracker in her hand, but it's an "invisible selfie stick" is what they call it

haha thanks Mike! So funny, we were just talking about it. But yeah K J, Mike covered it. The 360 camera actually records a little more than 180 degrees to each side of the camera lens, so the software can remove the stick (absolutely not a stupid question 😃 and I'm glad you liked the video!)

They're exactly half the cost of both shoes. So, still expensive haha especially for one shoe. Not sure the exact price though!
